  1. Yep I had this test to rule out Asthma for my worsening lung issues.
  2. lol...my regular conversation with waitstaff now is -- "I can't safely eat anything on your menu due to severe allergies, so please bring me a glass of Zin just as soon as possible...thanks" then after they toddle away I whip out something yummy looking...more often then not they are curious about what I am eating
  3. Perhaps I am missing something, but I still don't see where you were tested for either Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) or Anti-Gliadin Antibody (AGA). These should be run if they have not been. Celiac Disease has over 300 associated symptoms...not everyone has digestive issues. Open Original Shared Link With the Thyroid, Anemia and strong positive...
  4. Always great to hear there is light at the end of the frustrating diagnosis tunnel. Do let us know when the endo is complete so we can all cheers!!! to your new gluten free life
  5. Were any of these tests run? EMA-IgA DGP-IgA and IgG AGA-IgA and IgG There is a strong association between Celiac and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and other Throid issues. The history of anemia also points to celiac disease. I'd vote for making sure you have had a complete Celiac Antibody Panel along with nutriment blood testing. Once complete decide...
  6. Completely understand....when we began entertaining post gluten-free...I was able to enjoy the desserts I made with my guests....eventually I was unable to...but still enjoy making sweet treats - especially for my sons. Enjoy your dinner party
  7. I guess I misunderstood your post. Asthma and shortness of breath seemed like a lung issue to me. Have a good day
  8. The dinner sounds perfect! Don't worry about dessert...but I found it nice to sit and have coffee while folks enjoyed something sweet....if interested...a really easy thing is Betty Crocker gluten-free brownies .... I add a cup of chocolate chips to the batter and sprinkle small squares with powdered sugar....easy.
  9. Hang in there....the best thing we ever did was invite the irritating family members over...first meal "Is this/Is that gluten-free" until I was ready to hit something. Subsequent meals "I can't believe this is gluten-free"....eventually it became "This item, meal or dessert is delicious" sometimes followed by "Thank You" -- be still my heart. Can't...
  10. Good Morning. My son has had lung issues for over ten years...first we thought it was damage from Forest Fires, then Asthma, but what it turned out to be was GERD. At night he was asperating acid into his lungs which made all sorts of trouble. For years we tried different gerd medications to no avail. About a year gluten-free his constant "smoker's...
  11. Thanks for the giggles....glad your visit is almost done...should tomorrow be a tough day...perhaps borrow her Teddys and arrange them lovingly on your bed...when asked what the hell you think you are doing.... "Well, I see how you enjoy my belongings when you visit so I thought I'd enjoy your Teddy Bears before they have to leave." Hang in...
  12. This is nice to hear...especially the parts about you improving! Thanks for sharing...it is nice to have folks pop back in to remind others that healing happens...it just takes time. Feel free to join in anytime...the more the merrier around here
  13. Welcome! I don't necessarily disagree with much of what you have introduced to this thread, but would like to comment on one point that I think is incorrect. From my understanding Gliadin has always been in wheat -- it is one of two proteins that make up wheat. If you are speaking of genetically modified peptide chains to create variations to Gliadin...
  14. Ditto Don't mean to dismiss...sometimes it simply takes time...four months seems like a very long time, but in the realm of healing from the damage caused from Celiac Disease it really has been a short time. Because your numbers are improving...it certainly looks like you are on the right track.
  15. What I love is the pity I see in folks eyes when I explain why I have brought my own food...I often say don't pity me as long as I am sitting here with you...think of all the events I have missed for many years when I was unable to function...now I am able to be here with you having a good time...I no longer need anyone's pity. Thankfully this conversation...
  16. Call your doctor and report the result of returning gluten to your diet. There are a few minor management of accidental gluten or cross contamination tricks...but nothing can stop the immune system from responding to gluten and I have no idea what can be utilized to help the challenge other than eating late in the day and no more gluten than necessary...
  17. Part of what makes us such great advocates....by the time we have "the speech" down....we usually know more than 99.9% of the health care folks we encounter. Very much hope to see the day when every MD is as familiar as us regarding the details of Celiac Disease and NCGS. Ever hopeful...but prepared to continue educating until that day comes.

Welcome Jared! Glad you found us...it can really help the transition to your gluten-free life progress much more quickly. Do read the "Newbie" thread and let us know if you have questions
  19. This is exciting....my hair also became less gray as my nutrient levels improved. Took me a very long time to climb back to all good levels...hoping you all have much improved numbers quickly. Thanks for sharing your good news
  20. Good Morning! Sliding into this thread late... Just wanted to say hang in there....you already know gluten is an issue...just because docs don't run the right tests at the right time does not mean you are not celiac or at least NCGS. Curious if your elevated liver enzmes have decreased during your time gluten-free. Mine took about a year gluten...
  21. As you can tell my brain is not all the way clear of the flare or gluten that took me out for for over a week...getting there but not all the way back quite yet
  22. yum...just was living vicariously and thot you were teasing us
  23. Good Morning Lexi- You do not need to worry about a certified gluten-free label if you are not buying processed foods. Your system needs a break and to be treated with care -- that means whole foods with occasional gluten-free processed items as a rare treat. Many of us have responded to you in this and other threads with this same message. Stop...
  24. Completely understand this as two of my kids had negative tests...yet all of their health issues improved or completely resolved gluten-free. Confirmation does help when improvement doesn't come quickly, but given your history...I do think you'll find some improvement gluten-free and the accidental glutenings that inevitably happen will reinforce your need...
