  1. I agree with Gemini. Many of us have issues with other foods. I would recommend a food journal and elimination diet. Best of luck-
  2. I too am an overweight Celiac. But when I started the gluten-free diet I started to drop the weight, feelings of hunger have come back to normal levels and I feel fuller when eating less. Some days I don't have any hunger..weird! So once your gluten-free and have been for a while it should help with the weight coming off. But don't for get to exercise. Now...
  3. Interesting. I find it very odd that they didn't explain Celiac better or more clear. The auto-immune response to Gluten wasn't even mentioned. As I read this I tried to look at it as someone without Celiac or knowledge of and to be honest I took this article as a slam on the gluten-free diet. I think that people could perceive this as a life style choice...
  4. I would like to know the apps as well. I find that I really use my iPhone alot when unsure of food since I can just research right then and there to see if it's gluten-free or not. It is very helpful in many instants.
  5. I have the book. So far *knock on wood* I haven't had any issues. The site does have updates of things that should be "crossed out" in the book. Like chicken broth and etc...What items are you thinking that are gluten-free that aren't? I would like to avoid those as well if you could share? I would also recommend looking at: Open Original Shared Link, they...
  6. This is a very powerfull statement that speaks volumes without saying more than a sentence. I also too have family member that need to hear these words. I hope you don't mind, I am also going to use them. I think many of us will.
  7. It doesn't seem to give me much trouble. However; I think it might be a big part of my weight gain as well as celiac as I always seems hungry, but now being gluten-free I don't feel hungry all the time. I think that even though it's slow digesting it actually at least gets some nutritional value from my food.
  8. I find it ironic how many of us are told by professionals that it's all in our heads or we're mental cases. I truly believe that doctors don't want anyone to have celiac disease because they can't treat it with pills. See I think it's a pharmaceutical thing..They aren't making money off celiac disease because it's treated with diet. But IBS and the like are...
  9. Hi there! I too suffer from Gastroparesis. Although I am not completely familar with it, my doctor basically told me that my food/liquids don't digest at a normal rate. He never said "Gastroparesis". This was back in 2000/2002, when I did a gastric emptying study. They found that after a meal of egg salad sandwhich and apple juice, my stomach only emptyed...
  10. I too have the left side pain, upper and under my last rib area, sharp stabbing. I found that whenever I ate casein it was "active" no casein no pain. Strange.... Best of luck.
  11. I am an overweight celiac as well (why couldn't I get the weight loss symptom!) Any ways people tell me the same thing that I don't look sick. Untill I actually don't feel good. Then they can tell. I look "toxic" as my father puts it, my eyes are glossy, I am not bright and cheerfull and my face looks paler (I am already pale to begin with) but it's strange...
  12. If you are fairly new to the gluten-free diet are you still eating dairy? I would guess either cc or dairy, possibly both in this case.
  13. Yes, I found it at whole foods and sunflower market. It is the best sweet treat I have had to date! Gluten Free and Dairy Free, but tastes SOOOOOOOO good. I hope you find it. It's awesome!
  14. Storm, could nightshades be a problem for you? Potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers etc? Also, which veggies were you making. Some of us have veggie issues. Also, I recently found out I had an allgery to olives (olive oil), so there might be a need for a elimination diet and a food journal. I hope you feel better.
  15. Thanks Joellen, I actually had the gastric emptying test in 2000 that's how they confirmed the gastroparesis. Frustrating thing is that the doctor didn't really tell me about it. And this might sound bad...but I wish I had the weight loss symptom. I gained weight over the past 9 years. 80 pounds to be exact, thank goodness I am tall. However, I have dropped...
  16. Hi all- Thanks for the response. I have been gluten-free since I found out in Feb 2009. I totally feel better so it makes sense. I also did kill my dairy intake I think I hate that more than the lack of bread LOL! I wanted to confirm the test I guess because although my doc is really cool, but he seems not so knowledgable in celiac so because I was...
  17. First time I have heard that. I tried that in place of Rice Dream, it tasted different and didn't bother me, but I am enjoying more coconut milk and almond milk lately. I guess called Trader Joes would be the best idea to find out about that. If you do, please let us know. I am curious.
  18. Sure thing. Sorry about that. The Doctor said I have it, but he also said to eat low gluten, so I doubt he was very familar with celiac disease itself. As we all know its gluten or no gluten, with celiac there isn't an in between. They are: IgA, Result: 6 (According to the lab this is postive) IgG, Result: 82 (According to the lab this is out of...
  19. I had one today it was pretty good. Very cool they are getting with the "program".
  20. If one of the blood tests is positive and the one is normal and the third is out of range, that would still be positive for Celiac right? Just curious. Thanks guys!
  21. Yes, I would highly recommend you don't use it.
  22. Just to add to this. Many digestive enzymes can contain gluten or dairy based ingredients. Please be sure to look at the labels. I love digestive enzymes, but the ones in my house I had to throw way after the diagnosis They are extremely helpful though and would recommend them. Also the probotics are awesome. I actual take some at present and they...
  23. Honestly, I don't know. I have had it for 9 years the IBS and the unknown celiac and when I wake up I am fine. Tummy is flat; soon as I eat I bloat, just a tiny bit. But if I eat something like dairy or soda...WOW! I am looking a little prego..ya know? I try to buy stretch jeans and make sure any buttoned pants or shorts are a little lose for bloating...
  24. I have the same problem. I also have IBS with Celiac, so I would say it's IBS off the top of my head...the funny thing is the normal reaction would be to get larger pants, but really they fit fine, until bloating kicks in..ugh then its a nightmare! The strangest things...huh. Best of luck!
  25. Gemini, please tell me your being sarcastic about the "fat" size 4-6. That is not fat. I am sure your aware. These comments even in jest bother me because I see our young children in our society going to extremes and delevoping eating disorders because of statements like that. People have a tendancy to believe that size is everything and nothing else...
