ARCHIVED Cutting The Starbucks Cord...
Salax replied to leadmeastray88's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was thinking also, what about any meds you take first thing in the morning? I have some and if I pour coffee on top of that my stomach rebels, I have to wait an hour or 2. Just a thought. -
ARCHIVED Cutting The Starbucks Cord...
Salax replied to leadmeastray88's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It could be the milk. Ever ordered it with Soy? It's good that way, doesn't bother me. Coffee doesn't seem to be am issue for me, but I did cut it out because if I didn't drink it I got headaches. -
ARCHIVED Medical Id Bracelet
Salax replied to Amy Joe's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I wear one and it does state celiac/gluten. I figured the most common issues in the medical community is lack of knowledge. So if (heaven forbid) something happens to me, the doctors have that knowledge so they can respond accordingly. It's a precaution, some may say it's un-necessary....I think it's my life and it could be on the line without it. -

ARCHIVED How Can I Help My Ex-wife Understand Celiac?
Salax replied to Idontlikewheat's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I feel for ya. Being a psychology major...I have a tendency to be looking at everything in that "way". I also tend to be very blunt. So not to anger or offend you, but to put this as honestly as I can...it would appear she is angry with you and unfortunately she is taking that anger out on your kids in a roundabout way. Almost punishing them, because you... -
ARCHIVED Synthroid
Salax replied to teamworkjr's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can't answer this, but I would like to throw out there that I take the generic for Sythroid. Perhaps, you could switch? -
ARCHIVED Should I Be On A Detox Diet?
Salax replied to kdonov2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I can't give you a specific amount of time, but I can say for each of us it's all different. It really depends on how damaged your insides are. I would recommend for anyone who is still sick while on the gluten-free diet to stop eating casein. This helped me immediately. No more D, stomach pain or nausea. I would also recommend a meats, fruits... -
Just a warning about Olive Garden. I ate there and got glutened. They are clueless about cross contamination. My server gave me the gluten free menu and still after telling them not use shared grill space or tongs/spoons etc..I still saw him use the same serving fork with my co-worker whom I was having lunch with, then proceeded to dig into my dish with it...

ARCHIVED Delicate Subject: Latex Allergy And Safe Sex
Salax replied to Ms. Skinny Chic's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have latex allergies in the "lady part areas". I was pain before I got married..Other than that I don't have the other issues with it. My OBGYN knows she can't use latex examine gloves etc.. it's hard because people want to freak out when I say I have latex allergies, like I can't inhail it..but for me its not that bad. I tried those allernative ... -
Well I live in Vegas, actually Henderson area..it is about 20-30minutes from the strip. I don't eat or even go in that direction at all. But there are a few places to eat that are in the area. 1. Sammy's Woodfire Pizza (they have a gluten-free pizza crust). It's pretty good and they are celiac friendly. Pricing is about $10-$15 a plate. 2. In...

ARCHIVED Cleansing/detoxing Phase?
Salax replied to latteda's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I experienced that. Had to go to the bathroom more than normal, didn't have breakouts, but I felt like I was detoxing. -
ARCHIVED Is It Really Ibs?
Salax replied to ninabear's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think it's very possible. I was dx with IBS prior to celiac. I think that seems to be the norm for many celiac-ers here. I would have the doc run the test pronto so you can find out and stop eating gluten to see if it helps. Remember though, gotta cut out the dairy as well when you start the gluten-free road to let your body heal. Let us know what... -
ARCHIVED Asymptomatic Children With Celiac Disease May Be Able To Eat Gluten?
Salax replied to SalmonNationWoman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have to agree here. The idea that these kids have celiac, but don't put them on a gluten-free diet until they show symptoms seems like a very bad idea. That's like saying ok, I am going to eat 40 cheeseburgers a day until I see that I am getting fat and need to go on a diet. WTF? What kind of non-sense is this? If the kids have the disease don't let them... -
ARCHIVED Is Chronic Rhinitus A Symptom Of Celieac
Salax replied to dolphin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed with that as well. I noticed the post nasal drip has been better since going gluten-free and casein free. I also get ear infections yearly. I have severe allergies as well. I get sinus infections every couple of months. Best of luck! -
ARCHIVED Celiac Treatment Research
Salax replied to Mollifier's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Interesting. I don't think I would take it though. More chemicals pumped into the body. Likely to get cancer from the vaccine or something. I think natural healing is the best AND since celiac in a sense is cure-able all it's own from diet, why risk a shot? *getting off my soap box* Cheers! -
ARCHIVED Cutting Out Dairy
Salax replied to LandonL's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well I dumped my rice dream down the sink, luckily I had back up. I had bought a Trader Joe's version of rice milk vanilla, it was awesome! And it's said to be gluten-free. So if you have a TJ's in your area, I highly recommend it. Almond milk is awesome, but if you don't like almonds I don't think you will like it. You could always do Hemp milk. Never... -
I heard that Burt Bee's was bought out by Clorox. Sucks! Open Original Shared Link Someone told me they are playing around with the product line. I can't find out if that's true or not, but this sucks.

ARCHIVED Bad Reaction Tonight Even While Being Careful.
Salax replied to Arcolite's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would guess the cream cheese as well. I would recommend all fruits, veggies, and meats for awhile. Processed food seems to be hard to handle for most of us in the begining of the gluten-free diet. -

ARCHIVED Cutting Out Dairy

ARCHIVED Do You Get Canker Sores Or Chapped Lips?
Salax replied to PeachBlossoms's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I also get canker sores. I haven't had any since being gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Casein/lactose Intolerance
Salax replied to darkhorse's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If I may, I would recommend your diet of fresh fruits, veggies and meats for about 3-6 months with out dairy. I would re-introduce dairy in about 3 months, see how you feel. Do it slowly. If it hurts you, stop. Don't eat it for another 3 months. Try again see what happens. My understanding if after 1 year of the gluten-free/CF diet you can't eat dairy without... -

ARCHIVED Is Wild Game Meat Gluten Free
Salax replied to LandonL's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I believe you should be fine. All fresh meat is generally ok. Sometimes companies do add things to their products (chicken injected with____), but since your hunting and eating it....it would be ok.
