ARCHIVED Has Anyone Had Trouble With Aloe Vera Juice?
aaascr replied to eleep's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are you using the distilled aloe vera juice? My doc recommended distilled so it would be easier on my system. Also, when you first start taking it - start with smaller amounts so you don't get the "laxative effect". I started with a teaspoon in the morning and one at night - I worked up to a tablespoon each. It does have healing properties which... -
ARCHIVED How Does Jury Duty Work?
aaascr replied to floridanative's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was excused from Gwinnett Co. jury duty, but I couldn't get out of Federal jury duty (downtown Atlanta). I told them I had to bring my food, beverages and inhaler with me and I had 2 doctor notes to support my claims. I also asked if there was a microwave available. The 1st day (selection day) was not a good one - I had to eat my cooked veggies... -
ARCHIVED Mrs Meyer's Cleaning Products
aaascr posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
How odd that this should pop up while I was reading the comments on the house cleaning poll.... Greetings Alicia, Thank you for your interest in Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day and for taking the time to e-mail us. None of our Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products, with the exception of our Oatmeal Pet Shampoo, contain any gluten or any der... -
It's okay to be mad, the fact that you are continuing your training tells me that you're determined and that's good for you physically and mentally. And while perhaps I haven't gone through anything near what you did, I was in a nasty car wreck 3 months before my national soccer cup that I compete in (just last week in fact). So yes, it does...

I've been eating spinach nearly every day for 2 years (along with my vitamin C) and when tested still had anemia just recently. I use floravital iron supplement - doesn't constipate nor have anything I'm allergic to in it . Hopefully this will help improve - I feel better at any rate.

ARCHIVED Is There A Gluten-free Ramen Noodle Out There ?
aaascr replied to HelpingMyCeliacMother's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Kroger carries them in their "asian" food section for about 1.00 more than Whole Foods... but they gotta 'em. -
ARCHIVED Insurance
aaascr replied to Gentleheart's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
A person, who was trying to sell health insurance to the company I work for, told me that since celiac disease is auto-immune related that she would not be able to insure me and that I should stick with what I have. -
ARCHIVED Confused?
aaascr replied to melhopkins02's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Vida Organics (not domestic but Whole Foods carries it) makes some pretty do-able wines - Malbec Rose is my favorite. Also, some of the Badger Mountain wines are not bad. Domestic wine makers add sulfites to wine so that the shelf life is longer. So if you buy organic wine - older is not necessarily better. -
Sounds more like an allergic reaction to a food which can be additional to celiac (I have both food allergies and celiac). Your body could still swell and bloat from the allergen and the antihistamines could help ease that particular reaction. I take antihistamines occassionaly but do not notice any difference in symptoms if I get "glutened"...

Have you tried Floravital? from the website: - "Floravital (Yeast-Free) Iron + Herbs: Provides the same benefits and delicious taste as Floradix Iron + Herbs. aaascr replied to shai76's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am allergic to all beans - highly allergic to soy (reactions are - asthma attack with swelling and hives - no fun!) I just stay away from them all..... which is one of the many reasons that I rarely eat processed foods! -
Congrats! I know that feeling of finally accomplishing something physically (other than the run to the restroom)!

ARCHIVED Ok All You Pill Poppers...
aaascr replied to GlutenFreeAl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I take it very often due to various arthritic conditions and I have not had any problems with it. Doesn't bother my stomach or anything. I'd much rather take valerian root than any of the prescriptions out there because I never have that groggy/drugged feeling in the morning. Also got it growing in my yard... -
I so understand your frustrations! I have many food allergies as well and then 20 years later they correctly and finally diagnose me with celiac disease. It seems that my food allergies have gotten more intense lately so I am really staying away from any offenders. I use coconut oil for a lot of things: www.nutiva.com is where I get the brand...

I don't mean to be facetious but ask how many celiac patients they see each year and are they familiar with this website. The person I went to saw maybe one patient a year and had no clue - that's not to say all nutritionist are clueless, but the answers will give you an idea of what they are familiar with. I learned most everything from research...

ARCHIVED How Many Of Us Are Df, gluten-free, Sf, Ef, Cf, Etc. ?
aaascr replied to marciab's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Marcia, I am one of those people with life long restrictions as well as celiac which is for life too : I was tested for food allergies nearly 20 years ago and had to eliminate quite a bit from my diet, although some of the allergen food I was able to eat a small quantity now and then. With the onset of celiac 2 years ago, I found that I can... -
ARCHIVED Is There An Iron Supp That Is Gently On The Stomach ?
aaascr replied to marciab's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
www.florahealth.com - has a gluten free liquid iron supplement - they sell it in Whole Foods or it 's available online as well. Hasn't bothered me yet, just started on it about a month ago. -
Since I cannot eat most meats (and will only eat clean turkey when I can find it) and allergic to much more - some alternatives: shelled hemp seed (and protein powder) flaxseed meal rice protein powder rice bran quinoa (I had to start very slowly on this one) I will make: veggie burgers including all but the hemp seed items, protein...

I live in Lilburn which is next to Stone Mtn - the only place I've eaten at with success is the Longhorn Steakhouse on Hwy 78/Killian Hill Rd in Stone Mtn/Lilburn. The manager knew what I was talking about when I gave the server my dining card. I have many food allergies too and they were very accomodating. There are a few places in the Midtown...

I have had it all my life - my father had it too, but it is my mom who has the "digestive issues". When I switched to gluten-free soap, shampoo and conditioner it all cleared up - boy was I a happy camper... But since the grass and trees started blooming (I am -bubblechild- highly allergic) it has come back to some degree but not as bad as previously...

I am allergic to both the yolk and the white portion of the eggs - my symptoms were very like celiac symptoms - including D. I had an awful hard time replacing protein in my diet as well. I am allergic to most proteins so I use shelled hemp seed on salads and when I eat cooked veggies. I also use either hemp seed protein powder or rice protein powder...

It took 6-7 months for my hair to stop falling out - I also took biotin to help the new growth.

I use George's Distilled Aloe vera juice - it tastes like water. I was told to start using slowly as it can act like a laxative. 1 tsp per serving until I worked up to 1 tbs per serving. It does really help!

ARCHIVED Grand Marnier/margs
aaascr replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As the margarita queen of my soccer team (I bring 'em * they drink'em): I have found that you have to be careful of which mix is used. I have also reacted to "a shot" of tequila - it didn't taste like the brand I ordered but I definitely knew it was that (I brought my own food). I have been told that the cheaper brands are sometimes "cut...
