  1. Being a longtime gluten-free baker for my family I second the Zorjirushi--- it is a workhorse with a heavy duty motor... Breadmakers : remember gluten-free dough only needs one rising so be sure to set your bread machine . Also if your bread collapses try using less liquid maybe by 2TBSP less. ANd baking time also needs to be adjusted. I bake Anna's bread...
  2. Hello I for one love Authenic Flours... expensive but one of the best. Super fine flour gives all gluten-free goodies a much better texture more like a wheat goodie. I have expandex but rarely use it...
  3. Hi Mamaw...Suzi here was wondering if you have any ideas if there are any groups in NEPA...or even twin tiers of NY.. I am in Gillett PA near Elmira/Corning area. Really don't want to go too far as I hate the winter driving. would also like to add you as a friend on here. Thanks

  4. Not enough real meat........no celiac should be partaking of this anyway--- Wheat is clearly labeled in the ingredient listing. Tacos at Taco Bell is not safe for celiac.
  5. I wanted to let everyone know to be on the look-out for Kikkoman gluten-free soy sauce..... this was my favorite before gluten-free so I'm excited they finally have made a gluten-free soy sauce.....
  6. For Cass p www. Betterbatter.org has a recipe fpr gluten-free Krispy Kremes.............. Breads are hard for some to find that they enjoy. But there are many breads available that are wonderful. Plus many that come in mixes....Nothing will ever be exactly the same as the bread made with wheat products. Its a re-training of the palate...
  7. the thunder from down under is what I got sick on at the outback..... way too chocolatety for my sensitive stomach.. My daughter ate a whole one herself & never got ill ... I'm not big on strong chocolate goodies... .For me a little goes a long way...other than that I love Outback.......but stick to the gluten-free menu
  8. Smokey Bones Carrarbas Eat-Park Chili's Red Lobster Uno's Chik-Fil-a Boston Market Longhorn Steakhouse Five Guys All have gluten-free menu options, plus there are so many more.... I'm from southwestern Pa, let me know what town isnear you & maybe I can give you a better idea.... I don't trust Applebees or Olive Garden .......I know Applebees...
  9. I think all of us have gone through withdrawals & sadness , after all we have lost part of our very being, everything we trusted our parents to teach us in regards to eating (good or bad habits )are now gone forever..... Down the road you wll find what you thought tasted so good & you couldn't live without it becomes a why did I crave that stuff...
  10. Does anyone on the planet have a cat who is not finicky???? We feed our cats, strays as well grain free foods... Holistic Pets Catalog has many varieties plus any high end pet store will have grain free....Holistic vets as well. Treats (junk food for cats)! I buy Cat-Man-Do dried bonito flakes, dried shrimp ,dried tuna.. They love it & I also buy Alaskan...
  11. No, you are not paranoid.... the crazy people are the ones who think nothing will ever happen & if it does someone or the gov't will take care of them... Just take a look at Haiti a year later & then decide for yourself.... Even in the US there are not enough agencies or manpower to handle a major incident... Power companies share their manpower...
  12. Dietz & Watson has a learge gluten-free list of deli meats as well
  13. Why didn't she tell you how she really feels! People are so clueless, even in the medical profession.. Sorry you had to experience that ---- I would ditch the friend & find one that truly understands & cares for you as you are...gluten free & all !!!! The good news is you are not married to her......
  14. I have in the past sent gluten-free foods to starving college students from this forum. Another idea is do you have a nearby support group? I would think they would know of a needy gluten-free person as well. I know with in our group I give when others are able to share..... blessings mamaw
  15. First off kudos to you for sticking to what you know makes you feel better & healthy. Peer pressure at any age is hard to deal with. I would say those who think you are maybe a tad unstable or whatever they may call it are not your true friend or relative who care about your well being. You are an adult & you know better than anyone how you feel...
  16. I don't have time right now to check ingredients but check out Pure Fit--- Comfort bars-- Zing bars_ jungle grub bars. I know they all are gluten-free for sure...these are the very best.... I love the comfort bars, then pure fit the best..... hth The top two picks are loaded with protein...... blessings mamaw
  17. Annalise's cookbook is wonderful. Everything I ever made has been perfect. I did add a bit more spice to the gingerbread recipe... The kids love the cupcakes.... Authenic Flours can be ordered by mail... I too, only use her flour blend fro her recipes. Super fine flours make the biggest difference in recipes.
  18. I tend to agree with a few of your points. This isn't a fad diet & some people just can not put their arms around someone who gets ill from a few grains of wheat.. What my biggest pet peeve is people who don't stay on top of this ever changing celiac disease, they who say but my doctor said go ahead a little can't harm you, cheaters who tell others it...
  19. Peter is soooo correct. Nature Valley does have two bars that are clearly labeled gluten free on the front of the box.
  20. Just wanted to give you people from the Pgh area some info. Jan. 29, 2011 from 9-3 at the Doubletree in Monroeville there will be a celiac workshop.....some vendors will be there & also speakers... hope to see you there... blessings mamaw

  23. Hello As many of you have noticed I have not been posting much here for about 6 months. My mother was very ill & sadly she has passed away at her home (her wish) on Nov.22 2010. I know she is in eternal life with all her departed love & her Lord... she is where no illness, no pain , no sadness can hurt her ever again. I am thankful I was able to...
  24. You are reacting to the other non-gluten ingredients. It is common to become sensitive to products other than gluten ones.I too love coconut products but I react to it.Nightshade vegetables also make some sick. We like almond breeze for our cereal & none of us have reacted to it. For each person it is a trial & error to see what we react too beside...
  25. The post for starting a support group was posted on Oct 2, 2010. It is a separate post all on its own in this section. This topic has come up so many times I wish I knew of away to keep it front & center that others could reference to. Moderators , do you know how this could come about??? blessings mamaw
