  1. In a way i'm glad my dad's not here anymore because I can just see him shaking his head and going, "bulls**t, it's all in your head. Be glad you have something to eat". Oh boy. He was 1 of 11 who grew up during the great depression, they all picked cotton and ate whatever could be grown and shot. That included possum, squirrel, armadillo, snake, etc. He never...
  2. I would recomend what Raven said. I cut out the iodine, went to using sea salt, changed my shampoo and conditioner. Instead of shampooing several times a day, went down to once in the evening before bed and started eating whole foods, no processed foods at all. I had lesions on my scalp for over 25 years, meds didn't help either. After doing this for 2 months...
  3. For some of us dairy and soy will cause bloating and diareah not just the gluten. I have cheated 1 time and have been accidently glutened about 3 times. I do not want to eat gluten at all. I as well as others here think and refer to it as rat poison. With all the cancers and auto immune diseases in my family that is enough incentive for me to stay gluten...
  4. There's no such thing as being a little bit pregnant. Either you are are you aren't. If the blood tests are indicative then that means it is. Simple, period. She is having an auto immune reaction and she has some kind of intestinal damage and may have other possible auto immune disorders that may develop as well as can develop possible cancer later in life...
  5. To help with getting gluten out of your system faster try to drink a lot of water to flush it. Hang in there and good luck Vicky
  6. Hi Cognition, welcome to the forum. There are a lot of us on this board who do not have a formal diagnosis due to one reason or another. I didn't have insurance at the time and I didn't want to wait for a couple of weeks even waiting on a blood test that could possibly come back negative anyway. I am to the point now, unless i'm bleeding uncontrollably...
  7. I know this hasn't been active lately but I was wondering if anyone has problems using tampons. I've never been able to use them as they cause a lot of pain and burning. I was wondering if this was due to the vulvodynia?
  8. Hi Pattyboots, I have a bad family history of cancers as well as autoimmune disorders and I had been so sick for so long that I thought I had cancer of some kind. At the age of 45 I was finally dx'd with fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. I still was sick but thought I had things figured out. But, the meds wouldn't work for me, made me worse. After more...
  9. All this time I knew I had a problem with sugar, apples, bananas, squash, splenda, aspartame, etc. Just thought it was problems with going gluten free. I have seen mention on here many a time about fructose malabsorption and foodmap stuff. Never really paid it any attention until last night when I decided to google it. Like I said, light bulb moment. Now...
  10. Hi there gifree. Welcome to the forum. You sound like you may have several problems going on. With all those foods you are having problems with could be fructose malabsorption. I agree check out the FOODMAP listings. Also, you could be experiencing withdrawals to. That is normal and should start getting better in a few weeks time. Complete atrophy means...
  11. I am a rare one when it comes to Udi's bread maybe, but it gives me a reaction. Possibly due to the fact it has potato starch in it and I have a problem with the nightshade veggies. I noticed you ate the bread which has potato starch and you also ate potatoes. For me that would be a double whammy. Just a thought. Hope you get to feeling better.
  12. I drink a lot of water to try to flush it out of my system, then some pepto for the nausea, tylenol for the pain and some L-Glutamine tablets 1000 mgs, to help with the bloating and to soothe my intestines. Other than that I just try to rest and take it easy as I can. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
  13. Oh hon, have I been there. My ex husband would get so exasperated with me because he swore I would talk in circles and backwards. I could understand what I was saying but no one else could. Sometimes I would pick a fork up and forget what it was used for. The same thing with a remote. I got really scared when I forgot which direction to go to work, which...
  14. Ate Udi's bread a few weeks ago and broke out in a rash within 30 minutes. The potato starch got me. Uuuuhhhh.
  15. The nightshade vegetables which are potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and all bell peppers give me heartburn and reflux as well as cilantro, cayenne pepper, black pepper, all peppers basically as well as all squash, cucumbers, and some fruit such as bananas and apples. Very irritating to say the least. But once I eliminated those and the gluten I got a lot better...
  16. Hi Noni, I've been where you are. Depression and anxiety, feeling like crap since I was a kid. I know you don't feel like it but you need to eat whole foods to start out with. The processed gluten free items don't agree with a lot of us even me a year and a half on this diet. It wasn't until after I got rid of all the gluten, dairy and soy that I started...
  17. My insomnia and anxiety went away after I got rid of the gluten, dairy, and soy and started taking 5 mg of melatonin and 100 mg of 5-HTP together. Now, I get about 7 hours a night straight. This is a big improvement over waking up every couple of hours and then staying awake for an hour at a time every single night since I was 8 years old.
  18. Hi Diane I was dx'd with fibro and none of the meds helped. A few months later I got a newsletter from the Fibromyalgia network where they were discussing that 75% of fibro sufferers have gluten problems and other food intollerances. I started researching more and that's when it clicked in my head. Went gluten free and I would say that a lot of my fibro...
  19. When I visit family I take my own skillet and a sauce pan. My own everything basically and foods in a cooler and i've gotten to the point that I tell my relatives if they don't like it than I won't come anymore. Family reunions were difficult at first but when I quit letting them guilt trip me into "eating just one bite" I quit getting sick. So, just be...
  20. Hi Arened, Just a thought, but the night before or the every once in a while when this happens. Had you eaten any kind of potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers or eggplant? These are called the nightshade vegetables. For some people they have a toxicity for them which will cause swelling, joint pain and make you feel just down right miserable. Hope you get...
  21. Welcome Reed, I had the same things on my head for over 20 years. No meds I could find would help. Dr's kept giving me different things to use which all never helped. It was only after I went gluten free and stoped using a wheat based shampoo that they finally cleared up. IN 2 MONTHS! I've been gluten free over a year and a half now and it's only when I...
  22. Hi Cmadam, I know this post was a while ago, but I hope this may help you or someone else. I started this gluten free thing over a year and a half ago, I am 5 ft 2 and I was 205. I am now down to 160. I do not eat anything that is made gluten free except for kind bars and larabars. Those are the only gluten free items I seem to be able to handle. I eat...
  23. I also agree with the quaker rice cakes and gluten free oatmeal. I am one of those people we call super sensitive. I cannot eat hardly anything that is made gluten free or made on shared lnes, etc. I have reactions to them, expecially the gluten free chex cereals. I have to eat just plain meats, fruits and veggies. If you notice my signature. I am also dairy...
  24. Just wondering if anyone's type 2 diabetes reversed after going gluten free. Sweetie has been diabetic for over 20 years. He's going gluten free a lot better this time around. He's not 100% yet but he is doing a lot better. Just wondering if it may be possible for him to no longer have to take his diabetes meds eventually. Trying to give him something...
