  1. I finally had to acknowledge that splenda was bad for me. UUhhh, stomach aches and bloating. Had to give up the aspertame because I realized it was agravating my Fibro, then went caffene free on top of that. Read an article about these plus agave nectar can aggravate the Fibro. Starting to do better now. Stevia has been a big help.
  2. You cannot test for Celiac with a colonoscopy. It's done with an endoscopy. They biopsy the small intestines. You will get a negative test every time with a colonoscopy.
  3. I wish I could eat the gluten free goodies but I am so sensitive to even the lowest levels of gluten I can't. The gluten-free bread and chex really gets me bad. So, with all my other intolerances, I eat only plain meats, brown rice, nuts, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, grapes, and Santitas corn chips. I can drink almond milk but I think I may be reacting...
  4. You are just getting started. It will take a while because your body has a lot of healing to do. For me my anxiety and depression didn't start easing up until about the 4th month in. I think there are some on here their anxiety started easing up about a month or 2 in for others it took close to a year or longer. Everyone is different but hang in there. It...
  5. Wow89, have you been gluten free for a while? If you have then i'm sorry to say that you have a very good chance of the blood tests coming back negative. I hope you get the answers you need.
  6. Hey Revenent, i've got a question for you. Are you afraid of getting better? Just something to think about. Find you a quiet spot away from any kind of distractions and think about it for a little while. Am I afraid of feeling better? Do I do this because I am afraid I can't follow the diet? Am I so scared of getting better that I purposely make myself...
  7. I can definetly relate. From the age of 7 I was constantly miserable. I also can't remember a lot of my childhood. I have had a lot of cousins come up to me and ask if I remember certain things and I just can't no matter how hard remmeber them. School was really bad for me because I had social anxiety disorder with depression. It wasn't until after I went...
  8. Soy does that to me too. When in doubt, kick it out! Hope you get to feeling better.
  9. Gluten, soy and dairy cause a little swelling but what really caused a lot of my joint pain and swelling was the nightshade veggetables. Within 6 weeks my joints were doing good. Nightshades are potatos, tomatos, all bell peppers, okra and eggplant.
  10. Hi there Countrygirl, Gluten free chex gets me every time. From what you are describing is a reaction to soy. As for the chocolate craving I had that too about 2 months in and it lasted for about 6 weeks for me. It was like my body was needing something from the chocolate and then after 6 weeks it had enough. There are chocolate bars out there that are soy...
  11. If you don't have a problem with corn I recommend something I was raised on as a kid. Cornmeal mush. Just like grits, add butter, sugar, whatever you like. Just plain ole cornmeal cooked. I have it a couple a times a week. Brings back memories of cold mornings at my granmothers.
  12. It wasn't until 7 months in that I finally started having better days than worse ones, also Cipro made me a lot sicker, it wasn't until someone suggested Aloe Vera juice that I started feeling better.
  13. Hi Fire Fairy, My weight has always stayed about the same since I was 14. Between 205 to 215 since then. I hardly ate anything, I was a picky eater, never eating more than 1500 calories a day but I couldn't lose weight at all. I wore a size 24. After I went gluten free back in April of 09. I discovered I couldn't eat a lot of things including squash, cucumbers...
  14. Salt and pepper potato chips. Either cross contamination or you might have developed an intolerance to the potatos. Just a thought. Then again you could just be having a day where your insides are just not having a good day from not being totally healed yet. Then again you could be reacting to something in the gluten free bread. So, eliminate one thing at...
  15. Hi Jason, just my opinion, but I would cut out the almond milk and all nuts for 3 weeks just to see what happens. I love milk too but have found that all milks for some reason bother me. Dosen't matter what it's made from I react to it. Very irritating in the least. After 3 weeks if you aren't feeling better cut out the next thing on your list that you have...
  16. Yes, gluten free processed foods get me every time. I eat just plain meats, brown rice, sweet potatoes, nuts, some beans, some fruits and veggies, because it looks like I have fructose malabsorbtion also as well as dairy and soy free too. And I can eat peanut butter too, thank goodness! Even with that I eat pretty well. Do I like it, no, but I'd rather...
  17. I guess I'll have to give it a try, won't I?
  18. This forum here is my support group, I tried one of those brick and mortars 1 time. I get better, more precise information here than I did at that one. More understanding, a sympathetic ear when I need one and people who understand when I need to vent without making me feel like a nutcase. I have been able to keep my sanity because of this forum. I appreciate...
  19. Wow, Foogirlsmom, That was really interesting and informative, I just in the last couple of weeks kicked out the caffene. I had already kicked the other stuff out but I have been sweetening my decaf tea with agave nectar which he says to also avoid. Oh brother, now what kind of sweetner do I use? Aaarrrrrr!
  20. Welcome to the community. Yes it is very overwhelming at the beginning but read, read, read. It helps a lot. I agree with everything posted above but i'll also add a couple of things. If you are not gluten free then when you eat gluten you need to brush your teeth because if don't and you kiss her it will contaminate he and make her sick. Yes, that is a...
  21. She is feeling really bad and she has positive tests. I would take her gluten free immediately. After 6 months if she is not feeling any better then I would have a biopsy done to check to see if there may be other problems. Just my opinion.
  22. Hi Flor, yes, I found out that I had adrenal fatigue. I have been taking something called Adrenal Xfactor and it has made a world of difference.
  23. Not only does soy give me a little bit of gi reactions but I get depression and anxiety worse.
  24. Could very well be a possibility for the one twin. Answer this question? Is it normal for a 5 year old to have to take Miralax for so long? Major constipation can be a sign of a gluten problem. I thought it was normal for me to go up to 6 weeks without a bowel movement. Since the age of 7, It wan't until I went gluten free at the age of 44 to know what regular...
