  1. I have a gluten intolerance at the very least. I refuse to get tested. I use something called wild yam cream. I haven't had a reaction to it thank goodness.
  2. Shayre, lol, First off you can start out with a water bath canner and something called The Ball Blue Book. It's what my relatives used to call the Official book on canning. And yes you can can meats. To get started I would suggest you check out Jackie Clay's blog on Backwoodshome.com. She has recipes and everything you would need to know. On the first page...
  3. Hi Okie, I'm also sorry for your loss and wish there was some way I could help. I was raised in tx but have lived in Ok for the last 6 years. Moved up there to be closer to my mom who needed help.
  4. Hi Ray, welcome to the forums. I personally don't have a problem with seizures but I have a cousin who has them. She is 55 years old and she has had seizures since 10 years old. She has had at least 1 to 3 a day. I talked her into gluten free a year ago and it took a good 7 months before she felt any relief. But she hasn't had a seizure for 4 months and...
  5. No.1 NOOO! Your gastro is wrong! No Gluten Period! No.2. If you are not careful enough you are keeping the gluten antibodies active, therefore you will still be making yourself sick. No.3. Never trust french fries, even when they say dedicated fryer. They get in a hurry sometimes and use it for breaded things anyway. I've seen that happen. No....
  6. Several things have worked for me. Lots of water to try to flush the system, pepto bismol for the tummy aches and/or L-glutamine powder. Activated charcol and or tylenol. And laying down trying to sleep it away.
  7. Hi Fairydust, yes, dairy intolerance has been linked to Celiac. If the villi in your small intestine is damaged then you will have problems with dairy. As for your problem with the hives, I can't help you much there except to say I had sores on my head for over 20 years that wouldn't go away no matter what I did or meds I took. It wasn't until I stopped eating...
  8. Lawdy, Lawdy Miss Clawdy, those sure sound good. I'll have to make some when I get home.
  9. I Totally understand where you're coming from!! The only thing I can add is I'M SICK and TIRED of being SICK and TIRED!
  10. I consider myself Celiac. I have had symptoms since I was 8 and I went gluten free at the age of 44. I'm 47 now and most of my symptoms have improved. I wish the rest of my family would get tested because I see a lot of celiac symptoms in them especially the diareah. My mother has had direah most of her life, She had bleeding problems until she had a hysterectomy...
  11. Oh brother, I couldn't help myself, I had to go read it and I wished I hadn't. She has no blastin clue what she's talking about. She has misinterpreted the book to what she thinks she wants it to say. This is one of those people that you can talk till you're blue in the face and she will still refuse to believe you even if you throw facts in her face.
  12. Hi Northernelf, I'm sorry you feel so bad. I have RA and I know what you're going through. Have you eliminated the nightshade vegetables? They are not good for anyone who has arthritis issues and you definitley sound like you do. Please take them out for a few weeks and see how you feel. Potatoes, tomatoes, all bell peppers, eggplant, tobasco sauce, tomatillos...
  13. Hi Laurie, I would definetly block her posts and/or I would give links and comments on "yes you can heal the gut but you can not eat gluten ever." Just my opinion.
  14. My neurological symptoms didn't start easing up until 6 months in and I had to remove soy, dary and nightshades for that to happen. Mine were tingling, burning in the extremities, brain fog, anxiety, depression and headaches.
  15. I can definitely relate. I would get home after school and make my favorite snack. Mayo sandwiches, There would be times I would eat half a loaf. It was ssooooo good. Could be why I weighed 200 lbs at 14 too. But yes, after my snack I would try to do my homework and fall asleep in the middle of it.
  16. Hi phil1 There are a lot of us here that test negative for Celiac but still have the symptoms. That is what is called Non Celiac Gluten Intolerance. Me personally consider myself Celiac even though i've never even tried to test out because the tests are notorious for giving false negatives. As for eating gluten free foods. I'm one of many here who can't...
  17. That's just it, i've been gluten free 2 years now and I still have this problem. But then I've been sick from the age of 8 so, I have 30 something years to make up for. I understand nurological problems take a lot longer to clear up. So maybe in a couple of more years I might be able to write my books. Hope, Hope.
  18. I was wondering about thyroid symptoms. Does anyone have a salt symptom that is known to be a thyroid problem? I have become so sensitive to salt. It makes me sick to my stomach and gives me a headache. almost everything I eat tastes like it has been drenched in it. I have to wash it first and after I cook it it still tastes salty. So, could this be a thyroid...
  19. I've got 7 books in my head and everytime i go to write it's like I lose the translation from my brain to my hand. What I think and what I write are 2 different things. I have even tried to recite what's in my brain into a recorder and the same thing happens. What I have in my head does not come out of my mouth. I wish I had a copy machine for my brain,...
  20. I don't have any experience with seizures but I have a cousin who has had seizures, Lupus and migraines since she was 10 years old. She is now 55. I talked her into going gluten free a year ago, because she has always had a milk intolerance as well as other food intolerances. She has always told me that she knows when her seizures are fixing to happen because...

    ARCHIVED Endocrinologist

thanks everyone, I know I don't have diabetes because I keep check with a monitor. I have to because i'm hypoglycemic. I have a problem when I get below 55. Not good at all. I have had fatigue since I was child and going gluten free has helped some but not a lot. I have started taking some things for the adrenals, and perimenopausal symptoms and that has...
  22. I have been in pain since I was 8 years old that I can remember. My mother says she can remember when I was at least 6 of me waking up in the middle of the night crying because my legs and back hurt. I hurt 24/7 and I had a father who wouldn't or didn't beleve me, telling me I was lazy, all in my head, etc. I have learned to live with it. Dosen't mean I like...

    ARCHIVED Endocrinologist

What does an endo test for specifically? I'm still having fatigue problems and was wondering. My mother suggested I find 1.
  24. Other than forgeting where I was I was fine. I just had to set there for a few minutes until my brain focused on where I was going. Lol, I went to the dr after I had several of these episodes with the fork, tv remote and the directions. I really thought I was having symptoms of alzheimers. The dr listened to me and asked if I had heart palpatations and a...
  25. I can remeber setting down to lunch one day, picking my fork up and forgetting what it was for then there was a time I forgot what the tv remote was used for and several times I would pull out of my driveway to go to work and forget which way to go. I only lived 5 miles away. Now that was scary.
