ARCHIVED Feeling Bad After Eating Wheat......
KaitiUSA replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Its very common so I would not be surprised if you have some sort of problem with it. Have you considered getting tested? -
ARCHIVED Questions About My Gi
KaitiUSA replied to Lister's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Those upper GI series does pretty much nothing for detecting celiac. If anything abnormal showed on there I would assume there is quite a bit of damage. Why did they do the upper GI series on you? Don't worry though...assuming there is a lot of damage it can be reversed with the diet:) -
ARCHIVED Lundberg Rice Chips
KaitiUSA replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have to agree that the BBQ is the best! I can go through at least 1 bag a day! -
More people are starting to know about celiac and it's starting to be heard of more in the news/media. I am loving this!
-
I am sorry to hear about all you have been through. Many doctors just don't know what they should about celiac and let so many cases pass by. I think there should be routine testing for celiac since it is so common. I think many of us here agree that your body can tell you way more than any doctor ever could.

ARCHIVED Advice Re: Biopsy, Please!
KaitiUSA replied to ashmom2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I completely back up Vincents post before mine. He would have to get back on gluten for a long time and it's not worth it. Even if the biopsy came back negative he can still have celiac. You see biopsies can rule in celiac but they can't rule it out because there can be sporadic damage they miss or if celiac is in beginning stages or if you have been... -
ARCHIVED Probiotics - Do They Make Good Bacteria Start Growing In You?
KaitiUSA replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I love probiotics and am a big fan of them. I use Enzymatic Therapy pearls. There is another good brand like Kyodophilus or something I think but I will have to check on that to make sure I said the right thing lol -
ARCHIVED Sick When Eating Anything...!
KaitiUSA replied to Elizabeth-Elindel's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am sorry you are feeling bad. Are all of your products gluten free as well? Make sure you are 100% gluten free and do not have anything slipping in. Also, it took me like 8 months to really get better. I mean I felt better before then but it took me a while. Some people see improvement fast while for others it takes alot longer. You may want to look into... -
I agree your questions were pretty much already answered but I will say again. Stay on gluten all the way up to the biopsy. Do not go gluten free at all until after all testing is done. Also, remember that even with a negative biopsy you can still have celiac. There could be sporadic damage that they miss or no damage yet if its in beginning stages. Just...

ARCHIVED Oatmeal?
KaitiUSA replied to dionnek's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Read what Tiffany wrote. I completely agree with that. You see, even with 100% pure and uncontaminated oats, some people still react to the protein, avenin, in oats. Some people still get that intestinal damage so I definitely stay completely away from them because I do not trust it...I think I would be one of the people that react to it. Anyhow, oats in... -
ARCHIVED Maltodextrin
KaitiUSA replied to May9's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As said before, Maltodextrin can be in U.S products but it must say wheat right on the label by it. So if you see a label that says Maltodextrin and it just says that...if it is in the U.S it will be safe. -
I am ultra sensitive to gluten. Some people are and some people are not. What you are describing sounds like a normal reaction.

ARCHIVED Lays Stax
KaitiUSA replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love the natural line they have. The fewer ingredients they have the better. There is so much crap they put in our food. Occasionally I will have the Lays Staxx and have had no problem with them. -
ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take Your Symptons To Kick In After Eating Gluten?
KaitiUSA replied to HillaryT's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know pretty much immediately which I consider to be good so I don't play the guessing game of what it was. My main symptoms usually last a good 2 weeks. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Going Dormant
KaitiUSA replied to JodiC's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Symptoms can come and go at anytime but that doesn't mean that celiac comes and goes so getting them retested every so often is a good idea. Some people never get symptoms with it so you can't go by that. -
ARCHIVED House Tv Show Will Feature Celiac Disease
KaitiUSA replied to irish's topic in Publications & Publicity
Wow, this is soooo awesome...great to hear this...maybe some more people will actually know what it is now. They may say wow I heard about that on House...you have that? haha that would be great.....thanks ya'll -
ARCHIVED Is The Blood Test Enough?
KaitiUSA replied to cocoa smurf's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Your blood tests highly indiacte celiac. I was able to get an official diagnosis from blood tests alone. They are pretty accurate. Now, biopsies can rule celiac in but not out so in other words if you get a negative biopsy you can still have celiac...there may be no damage if you are in beginning stages or you may have sporadic damage that they missed. For... -
ARCHIVED How Long On Gluten To Get Accurate Test?
KaitiUSA replied to Mia H's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have heard from various sources that you should be on gluten for at least 3 months eating quite a bit of gluten every day in order to get accurate results for a blood test or biopsy. -
I sleep like a baby through the night and have not really had much trouble sleeping. Now, I will wake up easily to any little noise but can get back to sleep quick. I am however a night owl but I am a college student so what do you expect lol.

ARCHIVED I'm Cured!-temporarily?
KaitiUSA replied to Candy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well sorry to inform you but as they have said...you CAN'T cure celiac. You feel better after being gluten free for 2-3 months because the damage likely healed and you were not getting reactions because you were not eating gluten. If you get back on it now you will do more damage and then it will eventually catch back up with you. Jst because you may not... -
ARCHIVED I Guess I'm Done, Sort Of...
KaitiUSA replied to moonunit's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I hate these clueless doctors. Seriously, your bloodwork was slightly high for a reason and your body knows better than any doctor. Biopsies can rule celiac in but not out. I think if you saw positive results from being gluten free then you have your answer right there..it was obviously a problem so screw those people telling you otherwise -
Molly, I am glad you don't need surgery. Just give it time..I know you want to play and I don't blame you but if you push it you may make it worse and make it harder to heal so maybe rubbing it with some kind of lotion or what not may help...not sure but hang in there..it will get better:)
