  1. For those of you who need a Cheerio's substitute I found some good cereal called Perky O's....it comes in frosted which I like alot and Apple Cinnamon which is pretty good...they have a plain one as well but I have not tried it.
  2. So sorry to hear you are quitting the diet. Has it not helped at all? Have you even tried being 100% gluten free with no cheating?I wouldn't just quit because its hard because we can have alot and its easy once you know the ropes.
  3. You are asking for a lot of problems if you don't completely cut gluten out. I mean you have to be careful not to stir gluten containing foods and gluten free foods with the same spoon...you have to be very very strict. There are no levels of celiac...you have it or you don't...you have to avoid it or you don't...there is no halfway point. Some people may...
  4. Hang in there guys...it does get easier. Things won't tempt you as much and you will know what to look for as time goes on. It becomes like a natural part of life for you and you will learn there is so much we can still hanve and good replacements for the stuff we can't have. Email me if you need any help at all.
  5. I eat Cheetos and the gluten free products from that brand with no problem and I am a very sensitive celiac. It's a personal decision though because some have had problems with it.
  6. I use Pillsbury frosting alot and alot of theirs is gluten free
  7. I am posting this for someone who could not get this on here am writing with regard to Lynne Truss' book, Talk to the Hand. She lists her pet peeves, and among them, lists "gluten intolerance". Additionally, in an effort to be humorous, she says that she wants to be gluten intolerant. Please convey to Ms. Truss that she certainly doesn't want that...
  8. Toasters should be replaced..toaster ovens well I would clean it thoroughly. For ovens and toaster ovens you need to clean...now I know most people do not think about this but baked potatoes and things like that you put right onto it so I would just make sure it is cleaned very well.
  9. Well there really are no quick fixes.... the reactions usually just have to run there course. There are some things you can do to minimize the symptoms though. For anxiety maybe yoga or hot teas...intestinew which is a powder supplement to put in drinks is really good for the intestinal healing. I hope she feels better. I also know how the stress is and breaking...
  10. I wouldn't say all soda because I am sure that there is a kind with gluten. However, the Coke and Pepsi soft drinks are gluten free. I am not a fan of the artificial sweeteners though because they are just plain bad for you.
  11. Wow I see we have 2 new moderators Welcome...I am here if you have any questions about it as well...it's pretty easy
  12. I can't get to the link..it keeps saying this page can't be displayed
  13. Yep contamination from kissing is possible..believe me..I have been there...my bf now is not gluten free and he drinks something gluten free before kissing me and makes sure he gets the stuff down and we have not had a problem since. He is very respectful about it:)
  14. nausea, brain fog, fatigue, anxiety-those are the main ones weight loss, constipation are some others.
  15. I just now found this thread...I will join today:) my space.com/kaitiusa
  16. I am the only official one diagnosed but we think many people in the family have it. They just won't get tested but alot have the same symptoms I did!!!
  17. Sorry to say this but you do have celiac. It is not likely that the biopsy is wrong. Biopsies can rule celiac in with a positive one but they can't rule it out with a negative one. You need to go gluten free. Ignoring the diet can lead to serious and potentially deadly other things. I know it is hard to accept at first. PS-do not go gluten free if you...
  18. Last time I checked(less than a week) the regular size peppermint and cinnamon altoids are gluten free. Tic Tacs are gluten free as well.
  19. 1.Positive Blood Work 2.Positive Gene Test(DQ2) 3.Positive Response to Diet
  20. If they come up with a pill or something I would not take it. The only thing I would find it to be good for is if you accidentally get glutened. I would not however just take something to give me the right to eat gluten. I am not for meds...they always have side effects. Now, I am all for them when needed but to be on something for life...the diet is much...
  21. Prometheus does do the DNA tests but only for the 2 main genes of celiac(the DQ2 and DQ8 genes) All of the genes involving gluten sensitivity and celiac have not been identified so it is possible for gluten not to agree with you even when you do not have a gene that would say that. I believe it is more common than people believe. I have heard that 1 in...
  22. I personally would not. You see gluten containing products have a high chance of getting into your mouth. If you rub lotion on your hands and then you are preparing food or something you are then contaminating. I would find some good lotion that is gluten free so you do not have to worry about that.
  23. I have heard that from several doctors with good reputations with regards to celiac. You really need to be eating alot of it and if you have been gluten free for any period of time that is especially importamt.
  24. They do need gluten free versions. Those cookies I really miss. I emailed them before and they never replied! Well, if enough of us ask and we are in demand they may go for it.
