  1. Remember, if it is not pinned by a moderator then it will not show up in the proper section. When not pinned it can still be viewed under Today's Active Topics
  2. I wouldn't panic at this point. Everyone has accidents sometimes. However, you should be very careful and not cheat intentionally. If you keep doing it over and over then there could be a chance for difficulties but I think you will be ok at this point.
  3. I got little itchy bumps that would come and go pre gluten free. They would usually come on my elbows, thighs, abdomen, knees, or butt. Even once I was gluten free I would still get it occasionally-I think because my body was detoxing and I still had gluten in my body. When I am glutened that happens to me and but it does not usually stay long for me...
  4. I agree that biopsies should not be considered "gold standard" anymore. I am seeing more and more doctors go with the complete blood panel for diagnosis. It only can rule celiac in...it can't rule celiac out. If you have beginning stages or have sporadic damage they can easily miss it. I am not a fan of them myself. The only point of getting one is possibly...
  5. Hope you find the forum helpful. Welcome
  6. I was diagnosed just by blood tests. I had a complete panel and a celiac gene test run on me. I don't think I have heard of CT scans for detection of celiac. Some doctors will just use the more accurate blood tests for diagnosis and others do both the blood tests and then a biopsy. Did you get an endoscopy done? If that indicated celiac then you have it...
  7. Remember that Kraft is a brand that will not hide anything and will clearly list wheat, rye, barley, oats on the label if it contains any.
  8. Some people just never get symptoms with it. There are no degrees of celiac though...you have it or you don't and everyone who has it has to follow the diet the same..100%. Even if you do not have symptoms you are still damaging your intestines.
  9. You have been glutening yourself. Ezekiel 4:9 bread is not gluten free. Go to this site and you will see food for life's gluten free products Open Original Shared Link If you go to this site you will see Ezekiel 4:9's ingredients which includes wheat, barley, and spelt. Always check the labels. Open Original Shared Link Flourless does not mean gluten...
  10. If it says gluten free you do not have to worry about it saying wheat free because it would be included. You need to worry if it says wheat free and not gluten free.
  11. Wow thanks for sharing that...very interesting. Happy Thanksgiving
  12. Question for the Catholics here... I am not a Catholic so I have not had a problem with taking communion with something that is gluten free. My church has been supportive about it and even offered to keep something gluten free in the kitchen for me to take when they have communion. However, I have a friend who is a celiac and is Catholic and she...
  13. I definitely would not take a pill at this point. I am against meds unless necessary because of side effects and so forth..I am perfectly content with staying on the diet. I think something that would be nice to have is a pill that helps with accidental gluten ingestions...not something to keep taking over and over...just my opinion.
  14. Yes, Coffeemate flavored and original are gluten free. This is a Nestle product and Nestle is a brand that does not hide anything just for future reference.
  15. First, if you have been gluten free your blood test and your biopsy would probably come back negative. You have to be eating alot of gluten prior to testing. They say equal to 2-3 pieces of bread for 3 months prior to testing. A biopsy can only rule celiac in and it can not rule celiac out. Second, if you would like you can email me(my email is in my signature...
  16. Some specialty breads are downright crappy..the dog won't even eat them. I have found some good breads though. 1.Cybros Rice Rolls...they are sweetened with honey and have a good taste to them...I go through these very quick 2. Kinnikinnick-they have donuts, muffins, breads, etc
  17. Was healthy as a kid and then when I got mono I never fully recovered because that triggered the celiac. I was 14 when I started getting sick and 16 when I was finally diagnosed.
  18. A small percentage of celiacs actually react to the protein in oats called avenin. Are these oats grown on their own, transported on their own, in a facility by themselves and everything? Those are ways that oats get contaminated so just make sure if you do order them that they really are pure uncontaminated oats. For me, I would probably be one of those...
  19. Yes, you need to be on gluten for tests to be accurate. They usually say you need to eat equal to 2-3 pieces of bread a day for 3 months prior. However, if you have been gluten free for so long why are you trying to get tested now? Are you still sick? If you are then maybe you need to look at if any gluten is slipping in through products like makeups or...
  20. That was so nice of them....really shows that they care
  21. There are no "lesser" degrees of celiac. You have celiac or you don't. Everyone with celiac has to follow the gluten free diet 100%. The only things that vary with celiac are symptoms and damage. Some people even with really bad damage get no symptoms so you can't really tell from reactions. The damage may vary depending how long it has gone undiagnosed...
  22. Most mainstream brands that have gluten free products and alot of specialty items even have them run on the same lines but clean them thoroughly in between.
  23. I believe it is now down to 1 in 90 to 1 in 100...depending which research you look at but yeah dramatic numbers. It is so common, yet underdiagnosed and they should have regular screening for it. Considering some people don't get symptoms is all the more reason to do regular screening.
  24. For sure...have to thank Scott. I have to agree he does so much more to keep this site running. I am glad to be a part of the site
  25. I'm in MD but I have relatives about an hour or 2 from Cleveland
