  1. No the Dephi List is a 79 page long list of products and foods gluten free status. It is not complete but quite in depth and a very good resource to have. Someone can email it to you or celiac3270 posted about it in the product section a while ago and he gave directions on how to get it yourself in there.
  2. Could be a possibility of celiac so you should get tested. Even if you do not have it, it is still worth being tested for because it can be very serious and deadly if it goes untreated. Some people get no symptoms at all and there are over 200 symptoms associated with it so you can't tell from the symptoms. You could maybe only be getting symptoms with certain...
  3. AS I said pretty much all Coke and Pepsi soft drinks are gluten free and that includes diet ones. Coffees and tea you have to watch because they can have gluten. Celestial Seasonings will mark gluten free on the bottom or sides of their boxes to tell you if it is or not. Some coffees are flavored and teas as well that have things we can't have in them...
  4. Many artificial sweeteners are gluten free but seriously they are horrible for everyone.I learned some pretty nasty stuff about artificial sweeteners in a course for college I am in now. There are 2 natural ones that are pretty good and those are Stevia and Xylitol....those are the best things. Regular sugar is better for you than the artificial sweeteners...
  5. Celiac is not an allergy. I have a severe allergy to wheat as well as celiac.
  6. Aww Karen I am sorry things are not going so well for you. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope things get better for you soon.
  7. Gluten is not absorbed in the skin except if you have like an open cut or something. It is more of an issue of cross contamination...how many times a day do you unknowingly touch your hair? ...if it has gluten in it then there are a number of ways you can get contaminated. You get it on your hands, then it can get into your food or mouth any way. The smallest...
  8. Yep Coke is gluten free....pretty much all Coke and Pepsi softdrinks are gluten free.
  9. I believe that milk can cause some villous atrophy in some pretty rare cases. However, the antibodies would not show anything if it was milk because they only detect the gluten side of things.
  10. My doctor ordered a blood test and it checked all my levels that way. He told me that celiacs have had a problem with nutrition levels so he checked them before I went gluten free and then I had another test like a year or more after I was gluten free...big difference that's for sure. I am sure there are other ways to check them but that's the way I had mine...
  11. I had a bone scan done too to make sure celiac did not interfere with my bone growth and all that. It was not bad at all and was very quick. I also had all my vitamins and mineral levels tested which all looked good too....I take supplements to keep those levels optimal too.
  12. How old is your daughter? Is there a possibility she could be eating some while you are not around?
  13. Sounds like a definite possibility of celiac. You should get a complete blood panel done(while still eating gluten) You do not have to have any symptoms at all with celiac. Some people get none at all. There are over 200 symptoms with celiac though and everyone gets different ones. You do not need to have anything in particular. I never got "d" with celiac...
  14. If someone has the gene then it can be triggered at any time in life. So just because you test negative younger does not mean you do not have it now- it just means at that point it was not triggered. If there is people in the family with it, everyone should be tested every 2-5 years(sooner if symptoms appear) to make sure it has not activated. Symptoms doesn...
  15. Yes, if he does not drink enough and is dehydrated then rapid heartbeat can definitely happen.
  16. Some people do not get symptoms with celiac so you can't tell with symptoms. You have to get a full celiac panel to detect it. Allergy tests will not pick it up because it is not an allergy. It is genetic but it could be traced back generations..your parents do not necessarily have to have it but they have the gene for it. If they have the gene then it can...
  17. I cried about it a little at first and definitely was having pitty parties for myself but really I have adjusted and found substitutes for everything I want and like. I don't deny myself any food...I just find a good gluten free substitute...yes there are some bad foods you have to go through to eventually find the good stuff. Sure, I miss the convenience...
  18. The thing that would be a problem is loose flour because you would inhale that and even that little bit would end up in your digestive tract and then cause damage. I would not worry about solid foods that have gluten in them sitting in front of you..the loose stuff I would worry about though because you will get glutened that way very easily.
  19. You definitely need to ask each individual place because it can contain gluten.
  20. It took me about 8 months to get back to normal again. I did not get pain but I got nausea. I had some other symptoms too but that and anxiety were the worst. Everyone differs with healing time...some take a few months and people with severe damage can even take a few years. The intestines will heal but then when you are glutened they will get damage even...
  21. There are also computer programs for homeschooling. A Christian thing called Switched On Schoolhouse has a pretty good program...it grades everything except projects and essay questions. I would recommend it...I used it in the years I was homeschooled...my mom was not my teacher..the computer was. Anyways, I have tried public, private, and homeschool so I...
  22. I use gluten free products(makeup, shampoos, soaps) and all that kind of stuff. For just touching something and then immediately washing my hands after- that is fine but I don't even like that so if I can avoid it I will but if not I am just super careful.
  23. Well did you feel better gluten free? Even if it's not celiac you could have a problem with gluten so you could still benefit from the diet. If gluten is causing more trouble it would lead me to think it is at least part of your problem.
  24. Most of the time malt is from barley so it would not be safe.
  25. I had a hard time getting an answer from Clinique...alot of the stuff I had was not gluten free and so now I do not use their products.
