  1. I would doubt that a doctor would remove your gallbladder without the HIDA scan. Abnormal enzymes can indicate a lot of other issues besides the gallbladder. There doesn't seem to be another way to measure function. All other tests are only useful if you have gallstones.
  2. I agree with Roda. A normal ultrasound doesn't necessarily mean your gallbladder is functioning, just that you don't have gallstones. Get the HIDA scan and go from there.
  3. I know how you feel! The other weekend I took a bite of my husband's eggs with the fork he was eating his waffles with! So not only did I feel sick, I felt like an idiot too! It's just so hard to get in the habit of questioning every tiny thing!
  4. I'm glad you asked, I have wondered this as well. My bloodwork was negative but I have very bad reactions to gluten and low B-12. A EGD done to check for ulcers showed my small intestines were very inflamed but no biospy was taken so it kind of leaves me clueless as to whether I'm at risk for the kind of problems affecting celiacs down the road!
  5. It was never officially discussed but I cook all meals gluten free. Same with cookies, cakes, and brownies. They are just as good so my husband and daughter don't complain. My husband has beer, which is fine because I hate beer anyway. Also there are some pot pies, bagel bites, ect. in the freezer for my husbands quick meals or lunches with gluten and...
  6. I've had limeades at Sonic without problems but there is a huge potential for cross contamination in that place! So it's probably a case of CC. Of course if the exact same drink caused the exact same reaction last time it could be something else in the drink you are sensitive to.
  7. Same here. I was so sick as a child with constant stomach aches. The doctor told my parents it was psychosomatic and sent me to a counselor. I was also plauged by strep throat. I kept getting it over and over. These issues went away around the time I started my period. My stomach was fine and I had no signs of strep until I was around 26. Then I started...
  8. Well that just sucks! I never order fraps because they've always made me sick and I'm always in a hurry so I don't have the time to ask them clean the blender, however it's nice to have the option. They should really make that info known because this is going to make a lot of people sick!
  9. Could it be the actual coffee you are drinking it with. I posted last week about issues I was having with coffee. Various brands were making me really sick and a very helpful guy (Korwyn, I think) said that most coffee is processed/packaged together in like 4 big centers so cross-contamination is rampant.
  10. The ANA is usually used to screen for lupus and similar autoimmune disorders. You result: Speckled is associated with SLE, Sjogren's syndrome, scleroderma, polymyositis, rheumatoid arthritis, and mixed connective tissue disease.

    ARCHIVED Joints

I have this in my shoulder, hip, and TMJ. I sound like I'm going to break most days. Worse when glutened.
  12. I've been gluten-free for 6 months. I feel TONS better in general but am still having problems with fatigue and low energy. Some days I feel better than I have in years and others are just so-so. Of course there have been a few accidental glutenings which have set me back. I no longer feel like I'm wading through quicksand though so that's a good thing...
  13. I have gotten this pain off and on ever since my gallbladder was removed. According to my GI it's bile reflux going into my stomach. It has caused me to develop gastritis. I call it the bone crushing rib pain. It usually lasts about 30 minutes and then I feel bruised and sore for a day or two afterward. Staying gluten-free has helped this problem tremendously...
  14. My levels are in the 200s as well. My old doctor gave me monthly B12 shots for this because she said that serum levels weren't the best indicator and she doesn't like to see them below 500...unfortunately my new doctor won't prescribe shots if the level is over 200. Luckily I had a vial from the old doc. After 6 months gluten free I can now go close to...
  15. It guess I never thought about how coffee was produced and packaged! Thanks for the tip! Looks like I can order unroasted beans online. This is probably a stupid question but, do I need to buy a special coffee roaster or can they be roasted in the oven?
  16. When I'm craving sweets I make the chocolate chip recipe on the side of the Pamela's Gluten free baking mix. It literally takes like less than 20 minutes from start to finish! I use orange extract instead of vanilla and it makes them even better. I sometimes use butterscotch chips (read labels carefully, all brands are not gluten-free) and make bar cookies...
  17. Social stuff is hard but I don't let it get me down. Instead of thinking how sad it is that I can't join the party I think how lucky I am that I have a good excuse not to eat junk! By days end co-workers will be loosing their belts and taking heartburn meds but I'll be feeling fine! I try to pack an extra good lunch those days, usually leftovers of a favorite...
  18. I guess I could try the syrups. I don't use anything with Splenda in it so it would add some calories to my morning coffee. I would still love to find ground flavored coffee that set well with me. I called Folger about the vanilla biscotti but got the CYA statement that they can't guarantee it's gluten free because there are numerous times between...
  19. I believe most Neutrogena make-up items are gluten free.
  20. Congratulations! What a beautiful name!
  21. I buy Kroger Private Selection Ranch dressing and it is soooo good! I use Sweet Baby Ray for BBQ.
  22. I have recently started drinking coffee in the mornings. Last week I drank the Millstone cinnamon hazelnut and the vanilla nut without issues. This week I started on the Millstone Caramel Truffle and got sick with GI "issues" Sunday and Monday. It is my understanding that all Millstone varieties are gluten-free but I decided obviously something is in the...
  23. I no longer have a gallbladder but since it's removal I developed gastritis because bile is backing up into my stomach from the small intestine. That is a definate cause of gastritis and ulcers for some people! They gave me a medicine called carafate and it worked wonders!
  24. Pick up some disposable plates, cups, and utensils. In an emergency your intestines are more important than the environment! Definately stock up on supplies at Whole Foods. Keep them in your room, away from the gluten stuff so you'll feel safer. Put foil down on the counters before prepping your food if there are CC concerns. Ignore the nasty cousin or...
  25. The only time I used the BC mix was in a recipe for Irish Cream cake. The mix smells funny and the batter didn't taste very awesome but the baked product was amazing! My friends all loved it and they aren't gluten-free.
