This article and the research you did is truly a gift to the Celiac community. Thank you! Love the science behind it and the references. How can the banana be omitted from the recipe? I prefer no banana flavor in the finished product.

@cristiana, Hi! Thank you. This is helpful information. My Ttg has been low, but I did have a level of DGP recently that was barely positive and suggestive of the need to follow up for refectory celiac. However, a biopsy done near that time was totally clear. How did you get rid of your reflux from the antibiotics? Funny you mention that because...

I had a colonoscopy long ago, when I was first diagnosed. Haven't had one since. I had antibody test for Crohn's disease - they were clear. I have not had any pancreatic function tests other than serum lipase/amylase, though CT/Ultrasound are clear. I have not had any Spleen function tests, what would those be? I had an ultrasounds to look for gallstones...

I should also mention that a recent EGD was completely clear, no signs of any damage to esophagus, stomach or small intestine. Also, what I thought was Beau's lines wasn't really - it was from me pushing down on my nail beds. My fingernails look mostly normal. It's the ongoing Left Upper Quadrant pain that is still bothersome.

That's interesting, but I believe they are not looking at serum CD57 levels - they are looking at levels in intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs), lamina propria (LP) lymphocytes, and glands. In the study I linked above, they look at serum CD57 levels and find them to be low in several autoimmune diseases. Unfortunately, they did not review Celiac disease...

Does anyone have any information about CD57 NK cells in Celiac patients? I am trying to understand if my levels are normal and if there is anything I should do or can do to correct. I had a low lab test (CD8-CD57+ Lymphs 1.4% (ref 2.0-17.0), 15 Abs (ref 60-360)) and am concerned about my ability to fight disease and cancer with these readings. A doctor...

ARCHIVED How Many Courses Of Antibiotics Have You Taken In Your Life?
deezer posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
How many courses of antibiotics have you taken in your life? My theory is that a lot of Celiacs have had several, possibly higher than the average population. -
ARCHIVED Fecal / Stool Transplant For Celiac Disease
deezer posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Has anyone out there gone through with a Fecal / Stool Transplant that has Celiac disease? If so, what were the outcomes? I think it would be a great way to replace the good bacteria I have lost from countless rounds of antibiotics in my life. I think it could help with inflammation, food digestion, proper stool function, and possibly even improve mood... -
ARCHIVED Difference Between Ttg, Ema And Dgp?

I don't know off hand, but I would highly recommend getting a copy of Dr. Peter Green's book - Celiac Disease a Hidden Epedemic, he covers all of these tests in that book in a way that is easy for the reader to understand. -
ARCHIVED Celiac? Left Side Abdominal Pain, Sharp Chest Pain And More >>
deezer replied to jb1119's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have this upper left quadrant pain as well; this is the pain that caused me to get an endoscopy & colonoscopy & CT scan to see what was going on. None of them showed a thing, except for visible scalloping in the intestine, which upon further review, turned out to be Celiac Sprue. The pain that I have is worse when driving, sitting for long periods... -

quincy, Please let us know how the tests turn out. How long have you been gluten-free? What types of enzymes are/were you taking? I had some issues with fat digestion a few weeks back, but apparently that was at least partially caused by some gluten that snuck its way into my diet. I have been chatting with some others and hypothesizing that fat... -

I think your theory is more of a hypothesis - but I would encourage you to do some research. That being said, there IS research that shows that digestive enzyme supplementation helps patients with celiac disease -

ARCHIVED Lactase Enzymes
deezer replied to RiceGuy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
How's the lactase working out for you - and everyone? What are some recommended enzymes that work? I have been reading a lot about enzymatic deficiency in Celiac and I think it might be an issue for me as I still have issues even though blood antibodies have normalized. -
What kind of enzymes do you recommend?

How did those enzymes work out?

Posters in this thread: How are you doing? Did you find anything to help your fat absorption issues? Have you tried enzymes? We have some new research: 1 out of 3 Celiacs in a small-scale study had pancreatic insufficiency and improved with enzymes - eventually not even needing the enzymes any more Open Original Shared Link Here's one more: "We...
