  1. It's raining...again. We are now up over 12 inches for this week. My husband has had to limit his deliveries for work because so many roads are under water. One of his employees was in that neighborhood where the houses are being condemned because the flood waters got so high. I felt so sorry for that woman witht the four week old baby having to be taken...
  2. Nisla is not far from me. We have had more than nine inches of rain this week. Many of the roads are under water and closed. We passed a park this morning that was so flooded it was washing the pavillions up against the road (you know, the kind with those telephone posts buried in the ground for support). Entire neighborhoods are under water up to their roof...

ARCHIVED Left Adrift By My Gi

I have been through a couple of GIs. With one, my primary care doctor did a much better job of following up. In our case, if we had not seen a doctor by accident who was just out of school, we would never have been diagnosed with some of our problems. Our regular primary was on vacation and the other docs in the practice were overwhelmed so they passed...
  4. You are in a tight spot. Reality is that the tests are not accurate if he has not been on gluten for a while. The other reality is that you know what it does to this child and have a hard time knowingly triggering it. I would discuss it with the doctors before I did anything and let them know how clearly the dietary challenge showed a problem. Give them...
  5. Two of our family are hypothyroid. We did not have good success with Synthroid. Changed to Armour Thyroid with much better results. It took a while to adjust to the correct dosages, but after three years we are doing much better. I just talked with the endo this week because I think mine needs to be adjusted again. We'll see after a visit in a few weeks.
  6. Kaiti, hopefully your family will do better this time since they seem to have dodged the bullet. As for us, so far, so good. We have lost a couple of small trees and have seen lots and lots of rain. As for the pain, I have transitioned through Lidoderm patches, then Ultracet, on to Darvocet. Good stuff when desparation hits except for the really weird...
  7. Complete listing of terms: Open Original Shared Link
  8. Get ready, those of you in Dennis' path. If my pain level is any indication, we are in real trouble. I was fine yesterday, just uncomfortable. Today is a whole different story...and I am all the way up in northwest Georgia. I feel for those of you closer to the action.
  9. You might want to also search the net for a translated card in Hebrew. If you have a friend or co-worker who is Jewish, they may be able to translate your English card for you or may know someone who can.
  10. We have had those same kind of experiences at our Longhorn's. It is so nice to be able to eat out comfortably.
  11. You may not take as long as I since some of these others are giving much shorter times. I had been sick for a long time before being diagnosed and may be much more sensitive than most. Hopefully your body's response will be much better.
  12. That was a very common sense look at our diets. We could all take a lesson from him.
  13. It takes a long time for the breakouts to completely clear. Every time I get accidentally glutened, I just expect it to last for months off and on. It does finally clear.
  14. Been there, done that. Ours was eleven and knew how to be really sneaky. We finally had to have the whole household go gluten-free. It was the only way to get it under control. That does not help when she is at a friend's house or even at the grandparents, but it sure makes life at home easier. We also have multiple diets here and try to stay within what...
  15. I like that cooking school idea.
  16. According to my neurologist, it is normal for the left side to be the first to go. Thank God we found the celiac disease and there is hope for getting better.
  17. I'm sure it will go well. That first one is the hardest. Good luck!
  18. I am having the opposite problem (for the first time in my life). I don't have any appetite. I have to eat to take my meds and I am having to force myself to find something to eat. Nothing smells or tastes good. That is way out of the norm for me. I usually have a wide variety type of diet.
  19. Tone's, Durkee, and Spice Islands are okay as well unless the label says differently. You mostly have to be concerned about the cheaper brands or the mixes. If in doubt, check with the manufacturer.
  20. I have not tried the tablets, but the Depo Provera shots are amazing. I came off of them for insurance reasons, but they were great while I could afford them.
  21. Unless they are looking for something other than celiac disease or you had a great amount of damage initially, the expense and trouble may not be worth it. If you have been even close to gluten-free for a year, the test will not be valid for celiac disease diagnostic purposes. Even after I had been badly glutened and hospitalized, mine came back negative...
  22. After the fatigue and muscle pain of fibromyalgia, this was the next thing to rear its ugly head. I am so in a wheelchair. The longer I go without getting glutened, the better I get. Any contamination and my left side especially does not want to work at all.
  23. Oh. mytummyhurts, you'd be amazed at what you can do if necessity dictates it. I know I have been.
  24. Thanks, celiac3270. I meant more than my last ten posts. I use the assistant regularly. It is a great way to just see what's been up since my last visit. I just tend to post more than ten times when I am in here and I like to see if anyone has commented or asked an additional question after my post.
  25. Thanks for taking the time to post the results of your research. It helps all of us.
