  1. Mix together 1 cup sugar 1 cup peanut butter (I use all natural just peanuts type.) 1 egg Stir together and form into balls. Place on baking sheet and press down with a fork. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. They don't really brown so take them out at that time. I just made these and the plate is almost gone. My gluten eating family is going nuts for...
  2. I really really don't want to start a debate here but I have some questions before I use Enterolab for myself and I haven't found the answers to them when I've searched. I heard of Enterolab before I came on here. I admit I'm skeptical, but at the same time I'm skeptical of everything used to diagnose celiac and food intolerances because it's all fraught...
  3. I can't wait to see him! Thanks!
  4. My poor sister. We are sure she has it too. She's working on getting tested now. I think that she is probably dreading her own diagnosis and wants to think of it as a blessing. I didn't tell her any of this because it would hurt her feelings. It would explain fibromyalgia and congestive heart failure that she got in her early 30's. She will have her own grieving...
  5. Are you talking about Enterolab? It's a tough call. It's expensive and then there are people on the board who have followed all the recommendations and not gotten better. I am new here but I went back and read lots and lots of posts and threads about it. I'm confused at this point. There is controversy about the methods and I have my doubts. I haven't...
  6. Thanks Nora! I'm hoping that the new doctor I'm going to will be able to make sense of all of this. Maybe he can order the better blood test too.
  7. Thank you!! I need to know I'm not the only one. I followed a video link from a thread yesterday with a woman who said you go through the stages of grief like when someone dies. It feels like that. I'm a nutcase all over the place. I was driving home screaming "It's not a blessing it's a F-in curse!" It felt so good to yell in the car and get it out...
  8. That's a tough question. Have you been diagnosed with celiac or did you just try the gluten free diet? Use the forum search to look for threads about gluten withdrawal to see if that might be what is happening to you. Did you cut dairy and soy? They can be tough to digest on a healing gut and I just poisoned myself with soymilk last night. I don't know...
  9. I ventured out to Vons for the first time since my diagnosis a week and a half ago. I did pretty well but was overwhelmed. Forgot my list of bad ingredients and was unsure about a lot of things. In retrospect I should have just hit the meat and produce sections but I had to be curious to see what was out there. I needed rice milk so I had to go to Sprouts...
  10. A long time ago Lactaid didn't do it for me, but I will see in the future if my lactose intolerance was due to undiagnosed celiac. I'm really praying for that. I don't need a lot of dairy. If I could just have some cream or milk in my tea!!! I've never tried goat's milk because the taste is well... goaty. LOL
  11. I was wondering about that stuff too. I've been eating things with soy lecithin and they haven't bothered me at all, so hopefully it's just the actual soy. I think soymilk, and pretty much all milk is just hard to digest in general so I will be more careful and avoid all of it for now. Funny thing, I'm generally lactose intolerant but I ate some things...
  12. A few days ago I was very bloated from still having the withdrawals. I measured my waist and it was 5 inches larger than normal! The next day it went down to normal. This disease is horrible.
  13. I've only been gluten free for 8 days and today I was feeling the best I've felt in a long time. I also cut soy and dairy because I know I have trouble digesting them and I want to heal. But like a big dummy, I was sorely tempted tonight by my kids drinking chocolate soymilk at the neighbor's house. I had a few sips and then a couple more. Now my stomache...
  14. I was thinking about you today and I had a thought. It seems like you are pretty sick right now regardless of your diet. The few foods you are eating aren't enough to keep weight on you and give you the nutrition you need to get healthier. So is there a way you can try to find more vegetables and fruits you can somewhat tolerate in order to get more nutrition...
  15. I am so sorry to hear of how much trouble you are having with this. So the moral of the story is, even if I don't feel symptoms, be diligent and don't cheat on the diet. I have been having those same thoughts like "Do I really need to worry about trace amounts of gluten?" I guess I do need to worry about it. Thank you for sharing that and again I am so sorry...
  16. This is an old post so I'm not sure if you will see this but I was wondering if you are still happy with him. I called today and he takes my insurance so I think I want to switch. My doc is clueless about celiac, food intolerance and pretty much anything I ask her about. She wants to refer me to 3 different doctors for my various symptoms and she could care...
  17. I went and searched the doctors forum on this site here and found a doctor who is really close to me that somebody recommended. The poster said he is very knowledgable about celiac and food intolerances. I called my insurance and he's covered so tomorrow I'm switching. I'm 40 years old, have been to numerous numerous docs who were clueless and these people...
  18. I have had a terrible time losing weight for about 7 years now. Prior to that I never had a weight problem. Much of my weight has been in my abdomen. I have about 50 pounds to lose. For a long time, when I would sit down, the upper part of my abdomen, near the ribs would stick out and I figured it was just fat and when I lose weight it would go away. ...
  19. If you are going to do your own dietary changes, which I think is a very good idea, you need to choose one thing to do and then stick to it for 2 or 3 weeks before you eat other things. You are just making yourself miserable being gluten free then adding corn, oats, and whole wheat in one quick swoop. You can go totally gluten free and see if that does...
  20. There is no way I will torture myself like that for a biopsy that may be inconclusive anyway. If I load up on gluten I will end up hospitalized. I have been misdiagnosed my whole life and I'm not going to let them turn me into their guinea pig any longer. I have been on a low gluten diet for years because I figured out that wheat bothered me a very long...
  21. Last Wed. I got my results over the phone that my IgA was high from the nurse and today I went for my follow up. I started the gluten free diet and my symptoms are resolving in a big way. I KNOW I have celiac disease. It makes my whole life make sense but today my doc said she doesn't know how to interpret the results and she wants me to see a gastroenterologist...
  22. That's a tough call. Having been misdiagnoes for 40 years and ending up in the ER with a horrible attack after eating pizza and cake, there was no way in hello I was going to wait weeks for a biopsy. I went to the doc and asked for the blood test, which came back overwhelmingly positive, but I had already decided that if it came back negative I was going...
  23. I think it might be the dairy. It takes awhile for dairy to get out of your system so 2 weeks free of it might mean you need a bit more time. With intestinal damage like we all have dairy is tough. Look for hidden dairy in things too and just get off dairy entirely. I would avoid soy too. It's not fun, but your body needs healing. When you are healed, then...
  24. If your thyroid dose is too high it will make you feel like you are jumping out of your skin. You must monitor your thyroid and see a doc regularly about that. The thyroid regulates so many things in your body. Check that first. I won't use synthroid. It left me with "normal" labs and tons of symptoms for years. I got way , better when I switched to a dessicated...
  25. I'm looking at all the gluten free food and some of it is pretty good. There's pasta with whole brown rice, or some cereals, but most of it is just junk food. It's gluten free junk food but junk nonetheless. I'm thrilled that it's out there. I know that I'll be heading for the Betty Crocker gluten free brownies when I need a fix, but as a regular part of...
