  1. I've been having the same party for the last few days because I feel so awful. Yesterday at lunch while I was eating a half of a toasted Udi bagel with dairy free margarine and a handful of glutino pretzels, the other two ladies I eat with were having Sonic burgers, tater tots, onion rings and chili, along with 2 Sonic blasts. Needless to say my pita...
  2. I guess I will toss out those boxes of nut thins I stocked up on. Not really sure what made me sick last weekend.. but it was rough.
  3. I don't know what kind other than the GI calls it severe colitis. I have colonoscopies 2 times a year.. lots of polyps. I take Remicade every 5 weeks and on 12 Asacol a day. I live with pain contantly. It is so hard for me to know at any specific time whether I am sick because of the gluten, the colitis, the GERD or the IBS... Pain and discomfort are...
  4. I spend alot of time trying to figure out what to eat. I cannot eat fresh vegetables or fruits. My cravings run towards salad (especially from Olive Garden), grapes, cold oranges, watermelon, kiwi, blackberries... I cannot eat tomato products. I crave spaghetti sauce.. Those of you who can eat fruits and salads... I envy you. I am limited because...
  5. Because I can't eat most fresh veggies and most fresh fruits, I take a potato a bake it at work. I cut up a mango and mix it with canned fruit. I also try to cook enough at dinner, so that there are leftovers. For instance tonite I am cooking a piece of salmon and a baked potato. I will cut each in half before I take it to the table and that will give...
  6. I started drinking Boost because it said it was gluten and lactose free. Everytime I drank it, I would get sick. I called the company and was told there was casein in it. Soooo... it is lactose free but not dairy free. Too bad, because I liked the flavor and it was convenient.
  7. I tried this cream cheese and threw it out immediately... it had a terrible taste. Sorry to those who like it. I would rather not eat cream cheese than eat this brand. I'm hoping that a company comes up with a yummy cream cheese. I love cheese and miss it more than any other food.
  8. Here in north Dallas, they sell the Udi bread in the bakery department of Whole Foods. I am in love with the bagels. I use them for burger buns, grilled chicken sandwiches, even had leftover grilled salmon on them. I also buy the bread, freeze it on a cookie sheet and then put it into a ziplock so I can take out one or two slices at a time. I haven't...
  9. Yes, as one person said, this thread is very depressing. I've been thinking that something I am doing or not doing is causing all this bloating and pain. I have been totally gluten-free, yet I have been experiencing bloating and pain. This past weekend we were having company, so I set myself up with cooked shrimp, gluten-free cocktail sauce, Lays Stax...
  10. I have also found that I have gained a little weight. I've gained 5 lbs. since October, and couldn't figure why. I guess I am eating many more carbs than before... and guess where they are settling? Yes.. right around my middle...
  11. I don't drink beer very often, but I found the RedBridge beer to be ok. It seems to taste the best cold from the botter instead of pouring it into a frosty mug... not sure why but it does.
  12. I started eating the So Delicious Coconut yogurt by Turtle Mountain. Everytime I eat it I get very bloated and gassy. It is gluten free and Dairy Free and made on a dedicated line. It does contain probiotics but I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this side effect when eating this product?
  13. I agree with buffettbride, but I think a better direction would be to form a company/organization who works with stores, vendors, food venues to present gluten-free product shows. I can visualize product companies paying for space in a product show. Customers like myself, could go to a product show to taste and be introduced to gluten free products. ...
  14. I am teased alot because of my gluten free, dairy free, colitis, IBD-C diet. It's usually something like, "oh you probably don't want any of these yummy snacks... you probably want to sit there are eat boring pretzels (glutino). I was just sitting and thinking about the medical/diet issues of the staff here. There are approximately 60 staff at this...
  15. If you live near a Sprouts, they carry plain gluten-free pizza in their deli department. It is store brand. The crust is good and they have a small amount of sauce and cheese on it. I add turkey pepperoni, mushrooms and green olives. I also bake it alot longer than it indicates... I like well cooked pizza. It is even great for breakfast, cold the next...
  16. Originally born in Montreal, lived in Toronto for 49 years and now I am in Dallas Texas. I understand that Ontario Pizza Hut stores have gluten-free pizza - we don't. From what I've read, Ontario has many more options for gluten-free food than we do.
  17. Hmmm... last week at our staff meeting, I was munching my glutino pretzels with almond butter and someone at my table had taken the most delicious looking and smelling brownies and started waving them under my nose and telling me how yummy and chocolaty they were and blew in my direction so I could smell them on her breath. I held in the tears and told her...
  18. I am finding solice in all these comments. I just turned 60 and have Colitis, IBS, Gluten and Dairy intolerances. I also have gastro-paresis which means my food digests very very slowly, so if I slip and have some gluten it takes so long for it to pass through. The sadness I feel almost everyday is that at my age, things should be getting a little easier...
  19. I eat the Udi bagels, toasted with goat cheese and some smoked salmon... Absolutely delicious... very much like a Toronto bagel!
  20. Boar's Head is gluten free and yummy.
  21. I discovered a new snack that is absolutely delicious. Next to the Cheetos, look for Chester's Puffcorn by Frito Lay. The buttery flavour is the best. it is Gluten and Casein Free, Lactose Free, Kosher, Onion Free, 0g Trans Fat. They are buttery and popcorn tasting, and melt in your mouth the way Cheetos do, but without the cheese. They are also only...
  22. Thank you, thank you, thank you..... Yeahhhh I can eat lunch again. I buy the Udi sandwich bread and bagels, and now I can bring a sandwich to work.... thanks so much for the information...
  23. I was interested in what AlysounRI said... is it true that all of Boar's Head cold cuts are gluten free? Even brown sugar ham and turkey? This would solve so many issues for me, if they are.
  24. I live in north Dallas, and the Udi brand is fantastic. I can buy it frozen at Sprouts or fresh at Whole Foods. Their bagels are wonderful - just like real bagels. Unfortunately they are having some issues with the bagel packaging and have discontinued them, but promise they will be back. My husband who loves white bread gave in and tasted my Usi white...
  25. CaptainObvious, Unfortunately that restaurant is closed. I heard about it and when I tried to contact them, the phone is not working. I am going to try Fudruckers.. I miss their burgers and fries... PF Changs sounds good too.... I also have to deal with not eating dairy and vegetables, so things are tough, but at least this gives me a choice.. ...
