ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick Pancake MixNor-TX posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I have been buying thr Kinnikinnick pancake mix from Sprouts for 6.89 per 23 oz. bag. In their infinite wisdom, Sprouts corporate office has decided to stop carrying this item. It always happens when I find something I love. I spoke to the local manager and he has been trying to order it for me for the last two weeks to no avail. I happened to check the...

I was born in Montreal but live in Texas. I haven't been in Montreal for 25 years. I wonder if they still have Orange Julius???? Mmmmmm that was really yummy. I think it has dried milk powder though.

Met some friends for dinner at Chili's last night. Two I work with and 1 I hadn't seen in 3 years. I try to keep my medical issues low key because no one is interested in my Colitis, Remicade issues, upcoming knee surgery, GERD, and all my other stuff. So when asked how my health was, I answered, "Not great, but I am dealing with things day by day." One...

I've had 2 meals at Jason's Deli and both times I felt great, other than being very full. I come from Toronto where Deli is an art form. Here in Texas, Jason's makes a very decent sandwich and now that it is on Udi bread, I am in heaven. I had a sandwich this past weekend and although I had to eat it with a fork and a knife because the bread didn't hold...

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Like Being CeliacNor-TX replied to runningcrazy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease No, I absolutely do not like this disease. It has become an invader of my every daily decision. What to bring to work for lunch? What to eat for dinner, for breakfast. I work at a school and there is always food being brought in by parents and teachers. I sit at staff meeting with others at my table munching cookies, cakes, chips, all kinds of foods....

ARCHIVED Omg, Northern Va Folks -- Udi's Bread!Nor-TX replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I cut them all the time. Actually if one side is really thick I cut it into 3 slices. It might be easier for you if you cut the bagel in half. I always cut the thin side too. So on a typical morning I sometimes actually have 5 slices of half a bagel. Makes me think I am eating alot. I like to be able to cut them. Sometimes I toast them really crispy...

ARCHIVED Cross Contamination And Eating Out!Nor-TX replied to Mama Melissa's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants If you like sushi, stick with plain sashimi and a bowl of steamed rice. Bring your own little container of soy sauce and wasabi. (Most restaurants use a mix that contains wheat). I have never been admonished because I bring my own soy sauce/wasabi. I eat all the sashimi I love and rice and they always have fresh fruit/vegetables. It's my happy place.

I just called the location in North Dallas and he said the spiral hams are totally gluten free!!! Guess what we are eating on the 25th!

ARCHIVED Unsure Whether This Had Gluten In It Or NotNor-TX replied to smile's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I use the Swanson beef broth. It is gluten-free and delicous. I keep cans at work and warm them up for an afternoon snack.

I checked their website and could not find anything that indicated the ham was gluten-free. Did you actually see a statement?

ARCHIVED Made A Mistake And Had A Small AmountNor-TX replied to BoydBT's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease It might not have been that little taste at all. Did you use any regular soy sauce? Did you eat their wasabi paste? Alot of brands of wasabi have wheat in them. Did you eat the eel? Alot of times eel has a soy sauce drizzeled over it. I usually stick to sashimi and some steamed rice rather than eat the prepared pieces.

ARCHIVED Udi Bagels Have ChangedNor-TX replied to Nor-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Well I contacted the Udi company and asked about the difference in calories on the packages. The previous packaging indicated 280 calories and the new packages indicated 310. I inquired if there had been a change in ingredients. This was the official answer I received from Udi: "It looks like there was some mix up with our packaging. I checked with...

ARCHIVED Udi Bagels Have ChangedNor-TX posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications The Udi bagels have changed. Not only the packaging has changed, but they have gone from 280 calories each to 310 calories, yet they haven't gotten any bigger. I purchase them from Whole Foods in north Dallas. They don't seem any different than they used to be, so I was surprised at the jump in calories. Anyone else notice this?

ARCHIVED Help I Feel Like I Am Killing My HusbandNor-TX replied to ksymonds84's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease This may be from the outfield, but since going gluten free I cannot tolerate garlic. Even a tiny sprinkling does me in. I have also found that the Redbridge beer would make me sick. I have switched to hard cider. Still get the giggles but no sore tummy.

ARCHIVED Butter SubstituteNor-TX replied to bettyboop3850's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips I use only the Smart Balance Light margarine for everything. You have to be careful when you are purchasing this product though because only the light is both gluten-free and casein free. Look for the little Kosher symbol and the words "parve". That means there is absolutely no milk, no casein, no lactose in this product. It works perfectly for all my...

Over last weekend, I had my first spaghetti dinner in years. I bought Ancient Harvest Quinoa spaghetti and Prego Traditional sauce (the huge bottle at Target). I had 2 pots going with pasta - 1 for me and regular pasta for DH. I browned the meat, added some fresh garlic and italian seasoning and salt and pepper and let it simmer for 1 hour. Served with...
