  1. Enjoy life. Look them up! And Hersheys Cocoa is just cocoa
  2. This thread is from 2011. I think they were gluten free even then & there was a big discussion as you can see. However, info that is this old should be re-checked as ingredients change over time. I eat Reeses pb cups with no problem.
  3. 1 small amount of gluten shouldn't raise the antibodies enough to show in a test. Open Original Shared Link Do I need to have a follow-up test each time I get glutened?Follow-up tests are intended to test whether there’s significant (and repeated) exposure to gluten. A mistake (or two) may cause symptoms, but they will only activate the disease for a short t...
  4. It's true that you don't outgrow or get cured from Celiac. It is a life long disease. But....... 35 years ago, they may have not diagnosed it correctly. You may not be able to get your medical records. I am assuming you have been eating gluten for years and years. I would get tested for Celiac. If you actually had it at 6, it should show up in your...
  5. where in the St. Louis area? Open Original Shared Link
  6. Personally, I would go with one of the established groups. i wouldn't send my teen to a foreign country by himself to stay with strangers I met on the Internet. At least with the established groups, they do some background checks and give the child someone to call for help if there are issues with the host family.
  7. if you think you have diabetes, see your doctor for testing and medications and information. You seem to think that Celiac disease and diabetes are the same thing and they are not. You can do a simple Internet search and read some basic info about both.
  8. Eliza, please remember that this is a Celiac Disease Forum. People reading here cannot eat rye. Rye flour contains gluten!
  9. processing a gluten grain into a flour does not remove the gluten.
  10. might be OK for you, but not for Celiacs. This recipe is not for people with Celiac disease. It contains RYE which has gluten in any form!
  11. Never seen plain raw chicken that has added " broth" to contain gluten in the US. I believe we have had this info somewhere on here, but there are rules as to what can be labeled " broth". Usually it's salt water. You can tell by looking at the sodium content of different packets of chicken. All chicken has natural sodium but you will see some packets...
  12. Healing from any illness or damage takes extra sleep and calories. Are you eating enough? Sometimes, people make a drastic change when removing gluten from their diet and are missing important nutrients or fiber.
  13. if you have celiac , there currently is no medication that will allow you to eat wheat. But, you say you have an allergy - then there are no current cures for food allergies that I have heard of. Certainly it would be dangerous to market one over the counter. You will need an epi pen for accidental exposure. But it doesn't sound like you actually have...
  14. Saw this. Thought we could appreciate this. Funny but true! Open Original Shared Link
  15. Cheerios is its own brand of crazy! Don't let it scare you away from cereals that are done right! There are many safe gluten-free cereals - Chex ( except the wheat one), Speical K gluten-free, enviro kid, Van's, etc.
  16. Not everything is related to Celiac. it is possible to have other medical conditions at the same time. Going gluten free and treating Celiac won't make your allergies go away. .
  17. they are great! We use this mix and many Celiacs that I know do, too. I have no idea how long you have been diagnosed with Celiac. If it hasn't been long, you may not be healed enough to tolerate the fat, sugar, etc. or maybe there is another ingredient that bothered you? Or something else you ate? It's very hard to know for sure.
  18. Currently, there is no medicine for Celiac disease. The only cure is a strict gluten free diet. It takes time, maybe months or even years to heal the damage. Look at this thread for some practical info - the newbie thread in the Coping section . Sorry. This new forum design will not let me post a link from my iPad
  19. What’s with all the talk about certain types of food causing “cross-reactivity?” There is not yet reliable data about cross-reactivity. As for the alleged possibility that many gluten-free foods or drinks (such as coffee, milk, orange juice, etc.) would trigger symptoms in celiac individuals due to hidden antigens mimicking gluten or cross-reacting with ...
  20. Where did this info come from? Being a vegan " accerate" celiac disease?
  21. 12 hours of not eating won't effect the Celiac blood tests. What they mean is you can't be on a gluten free diet. You need to be eating a regular gluten containing diet for the weeks, maybe months, before the test.
  22. Just having a gene for Celiac does not mean you have Celiac. If she did a genetic test, she must have done the Celiac Blood tests for antibodies that would show you have developed Celiac? If you are going to see a GI for a biopsy, keep eating gluten until after the procedure. I am guessing you didn't see an actual MD based on some of the stuff you were...
  23. Dehydration, even a little bit, can make it hard to get blood.
  24. If it drips stuff off the sides or " ceiling" & into your food, then yes.
