ARCHIVED Gluten Reintroduction Before Doing Cyrex Labs Tests
kareng replied to Mixy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Beer - might or might not be the same. A lot of beers actually don't have very much gluten. When they recommend a slice of bread, they know it would have enough gluten. A Celiac test tests for antibodies that your body make to gluten. These antibodies start attacking the small intestine. Gluten is found in wheat, rye and barley. Because wheat is the... -
ARCHIVED Dean & Delucca Unsafe!
kareng replied to kareng's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought of that later. You can't use a knife that cut meat on cheese - health dept rule. I reported them to the state, too. Not sure if anything will happen there. -
If you all would read the links! Lol "ELISA testing, performed after sorting and once the groats are milled into flour, validates that each batch is indeed clean and free of gluten." "Note that the cleaned oat flour will be transported to manufacturing facilities and used on dedicated (and enclosed) lines "

ARCHIVED Coors Light

Coors light is still not gluten free. They have a new beer that is coming out that is gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Dean & Delucca Unsafe!
kareng replied to kareng's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I called the store and talked to someone who claimed to be a manager. I think he was just humoring me. He said that was against policy. But, big deal. If no one is paying attention. -
ARCHIVED Dean & Delucca Unsafe!
kareng posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dean and Deluca is a nice gourmet grocery store. They also sell made to order salads and sandwiches. I needed some fancy and expensive cheese for a party. The wrapped cheese chunks should be safe. Apparently not! The guy behind the counter was cutting them with a knife he had used to make sandwiches! I think they probably don't cut most of them that... -

Actually... they aren't using gluten-free oats. The reason regular oats are not gluten-free is because of harvesting, growing, transporting, etc. They become cc'd with wheat. Cheerios says they have a way to use these cheaper non-gluten-free oats and separate out the stray wheat seeds. "some are troubled by General Mills’ decision to use oats that are m...

I am not sure he is actually an MD neurologist? I am having trouble finding anything but himself calling himself a "functional neurologist". He may be an MD neurologist? I can't tell. Is he one of the owners of that lab? I don't know. I have spent too much time on him and that company. I wish the US would have some regulations about this stuff! ... -
They probably fry other things in the same oil as the chips. Maybe try a Mexican place where more people speak English? Would he be happy eating tacos or enchiladas without cheese? This may be one to try to do at home. You can buy chips that you can put on a tray and heat in the oven. like these Open Original Shared Link

That is a bit extreme. Even if the lotion had gluten in it - it is a very teeny amount. And an even teenyer amount would maybe rub onto a package. I think the store should just say, thank you for the input and not bother. I guess everyone coming in the store, including the employees, would not be allowed to eat gluten or touch the bread, flour, cookie...

ARCHIVED Cooking Gluten Free And Regular Food Together? Please Help
kareng replied to laylang's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It might be fine for you but for people with Celiac it is a big no-no. If there are noodles in the soup, for example, of course some melts into the rest of the soup. -
ARCHIVED How Do I Make My Family Realize The Severity Of Celiac?
kareng replied to CeliacMommaX2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Show them some info from doctors at a Celiac research medical center? Open Original Shared Link "The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage your intestine" Ask the grandparents if they feel good enjoying foods, in front of the kids, that the kids can't eat. ARCHIVED Gluten Reintroduction Before Doing Cyrex Labs Tests
kareng replied to Mixy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Actually.... I don't think those "doctors" with all the things to sell are considered reputable by the actual medical community. -
ARCHIVED Lean Cuisine
kareng replied to gardengirl77's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had the braised Ranchero beef with mashed sweet potato. quite tasty. A nice spicy sauce. The sweet potatoes were a bit bland but there was enough sauce To use with the potato. And at less than $3 - its half the price of most gluten-free frozen meals. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Reintroduction Before Doing Cyrex Labs Tests
kareng replied to Mixy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am not sure why you are so positive you don't have Celiac. Ideally, you would have gotten a legitimate medical test for Celiac before removing gluten from your diet. Please read these links from actual Celiac medical doctors. If you are going to do a gluten challenge ,why not get the real tests for Celiac disease so you know what you have? Open... -

You have gastritis - you need to eat for that for a week or two so your stomach can heal. -
ARCHIVED New Here..and Already Messing Up?
kareng replied to kkeg75's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Orange juice is unlikely to contain gluten. Maybe, a juice blend could have something but it will be listed as an ingredient. Orange/citrus is very acidic and can cause stomach pain. It might have irritated your gastritis. -
ARCHIVED Celiacs Get Paid $500 For A Plasma Donation
kareng replied to Edo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Like I said in the post right before yours - this original post is over 5 years old. Maybe they aren't doing this any longer? I suppose you could google using the original info and see what you find. -
ARCHIVED Iv Nutritional Therapy
kareng replied to CaliSparrow's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I guess what I am saying is that TPN isn't usually done for people who can absorb some nutrients. It seems extreme for someone who is upright, conscious and has an intact digestive system. Occasionally, it is done for people with severe anorexia. But even then, they usually prefer them to learn to eat. Maybe i am not understanding what you are having... -
ARCHIVED Iv Nutritional Therapy
kareng replied to CaliSparrow's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That seems drastic! If your intestines are completely useless, why is that? Do you have a diagnosis of Chrons? I would insist he figure out why your intestines have failed. Even with Celiac disease, you should be healing and absorbing more and more after a few months. -
Probably not- but are you 120% sure no beer will splash, spill, spit or boil onto the chicken? If so, enjoy! Why not make it with a gluten-free beer? Use a rinsed Sprite can and fill with beer

ARCHIVED Heb Blendables
kareng replied to RachelCherie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't have that brand, but I have eaten several varieties of plain frozen fruit. All they are is fruit - no sugar, no preservatives, etc. not sure why they wouldn't be safe. Can't really process wheat where you process fruit. Not even the same bins to take them to the processing plant. -
ARCHIVED Stickers On Fruits And Veggies
kareng replied to TGK112's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Licking envelopes is gross but they don't contain gluten. Saw a show years ago that talked about how cockroaches & other bugs like to eat the glue.
