  1. What balsamic vinegar contains gluten or dairy? I haven't even seen cheap ones that do.
  2. Why not get tested for Celiac before you go gluten-free? That way you would know what you are dealing with. And yes, less than 24 hours gluten free probably isn't enough time to treat Celiac or any other reason gluten might bother you.
  3. You can find all kinds of pseudo- science on the Internet. It's just basic biology. And, if that was an issue, I would think the main Celiac centers, researchers, etc would mention it.
  4. Fat is stored in fat cells- not gluten. Gluten isn't stored in the body as a gluten protein. Food is broken down before it can be " stored" or " used"
  5. The reference ranges could vary by the lab - they might use a different measurement or scale. Use the ranges that come with your test results. There usually is a cut-off at the high end. So if it says you have 100 and anything over 25 is positive, you are positive.
  6. Anyone know of a source for a nut free gluten-free sorghum? Many are produced on the same machinery that also mills almond flour.
  7. What area are you going to be staying in? Its a big place! lol I have not been here but I had heard there was a gluten-free bakery in Alexandria Open Original Shared Link I think there are a couple in DC. Google gluten-free bakery.
  8. Open Original Shared Link I don't see why it matters if your gluten is a donut or a slice of pizza. Its possible they have no clue and you might want to look elsewhere for a GI?
  9. Thanks. I am going to experiment tomorrow.
  10. If she has Celiac - then eating gluten will start to destroy her small intestines. Seems like any food might not digest well with a damaged digestive system.
  11. This topic is from 2008, originally.
  12. This topic is 5 years old. Most of the posters are not still around.
  13. Seems that the good ones have wheat germ oil in them. A few years back, my hairdresser used one that was sunflower oil based. Maybe you could find that at a beauty supply store? Sorry. I don't remember the name.
  14. Red Robin has a fries only fryer. You would want to ask for gluten-free fries in case they have more than 1 fryer.
  15. I NEVER let the waitress package my left-overs! I always ask for a box and do it myself. I just say "We gluten-free people are a bit odd that way".
  16. I don't know where you live, but if you live anywhere near a tomato sauce/paste plant - I can't see where the cc would come in? IF they don't add wheat to their tomato products.... You don't use the same equipment to farm. harvest and process wheat as for tomatoes. I bet they just don't want to have to raise the price of the sauces/pastes by testing every...
  17. I use Hunts, usually. Or the generic store brand. Contadina did have a "flavored" tomato paste with flour added. But that's the only one I have seen. Open Original Shared Link
  18. Show him this and say " This is the minimal standard of care". Open Original Shared Link How often should follow-up testing occur? New celiacs should receive follow-up testing twice in the first year after their diagnosis. The first appointment should occur 3-6 months after the diagnosis, and the second should occur after 1 year on a gluten-free diet...
  19. She's in the UK. I think they have some stuff there that is gluten-free. Products can differ soooooo much by country.
  20. The main issues I can see, assuming he is bringing and eating only his own safe food at school & other houses-- - eating in an environment where flour will get on his plate, food, etc from baking with gluten - people sharing toasters, colanders, PB, etc. - an enviroment where there is a lot of gluten and it might not be managed safely ( needing...
  21. Looks like diverticulosis does not require any special diet or treatment? Open Original Shared Link
  22. I am not sure what foods trigger diverticulosis but I am sure there is a list on Mayo's website? What did the doctor say? As for the Celiac diet - she doesn't not need to go nuts with juicing and alternative diets. Have her read the newbie thread for some basics. she could look at the dinner thread and see what others are eating. https://www...
  23. PLEASE microchip! I can't tell you how many dogs I have found with no chip. Makes them harder to get home. I didn't do it to the cat because she doesn't go out (probably should). For my dogs- it was no big deal. Just a shot that they didn't even feel.
  24. Sound like an allergy? But I would still get her tested for Celiac while she is there.
