  1. Maybe you would get a more informed answer from the endocrinologist? He/ she could look at your records and tell you what really was going on and why they had your thyroid section removed
  2. Looks like you were eating plenty of gluten for 5 months. You may have non-Celiac gluten intolerance if you have a good result off gluten. Unfortunately, there are no medical tests for it. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link "Can I be screened for non-celiac gluten sensitivity? There are no tests to diagnose non-celiac...
  3. I have a headache and need to get a few things done, so I haven't read all of the above comments. I'm sure they are brillant and a touch humerous. Here's what I would do: I would talk to the caterer. If they sound like they have a clue & it sounds like food that wouldn't have gluten in it, I would plan to eat the food. When I got there, I...
  4. Paul has the links here: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/blog/867/entry-1645-meal-ideas-what-to-eat/ https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ Do you have a fridge or microwave where you eat lunch?
  5. Sounds like you were diagnosed with celiac disease by endoscopy? Or about to be? Here is a good place to start https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  6. I just looked at the ingredients for one flavor and the third ingredient is malitol. I stopped right there. Malitol has a lot of gut side effects in many people, including me.
  7. Have the guys give a review here.
  8. forgot to mention Cracker Jacks!
  9. Open Original Shared Link I'm putting this in the coping section because Redbridge Beer and Topsy's popcorn at Kaufman ( Royals) Stadium helps me cope with Celiac Disease. Most stadiums have other things you can read labels on that are gluten-free like frozen lemonade, potato chips, candy, ice cream bars, sodas, cotton candy, etc. At our stadium, you...
  10. Yep! Not sure if this will work. It shows how small an amount causes reactions in most people. Some people it is even a smaller amount. Open Original Shared Link "A separate toaster should be used for gluten-free products. Even a crumb is a source of gluten that can cause harm to a person with celiac disease. A safe limit of gluten intake...
  11. Tests are pretty accurate: Open Original Shared Link Do you have proof they did the tests? A bill showing they charged you or your insurance company? A copy of the report from the visit when the doc mentions the trst. Not being able to produce a lab report is illegal in under 7 years ( in the case of a child, it usually must be available for several...
  12. Oh MO! What did you get into, Young Lady! I have no wisdom, just want to say "I hope you feel better soon!" Open Original Shared Link
  13. I agree with CM. don't assume you will never eay dairy or gluten-free baked goods, etc. it may take a year or more to get healed. I'm not sure how long you have been ignoring your health, so it could take a while. I eat gluten-free processed foods like crackers, or cereal or bread. I don't eat lots of it, but if I want to take a sandwich, I have a sandwich...
  14. The Wegmans one says MSG in the ingredients, too. The wheat was in the soy sauce. The website for the company says no MSG on the one I looked at. Maybe Wegmans has old info?
  15. That is odd if it says it contains wheat. I'm wondering if the gluten-free is a new thing and the ingredient list you got was old? Or did you see a package that said gluten-free and " contains wheat"? You might want to email the company for clarification if you want to eat them. I haven't seen that brand here. My son likes the Dr MacDougals but I'm not...
  16. Who knew turkeys would be so difficult? Hope they feel better soon! Here is a cute chick and Corgi story. A guy I know has some little chicks in a pen his basement until he can put them outside. He has been introducing the Corgis to them. He hopes they will use their herding instincts to keep them in the yard and get them to come in at night. Went...
  17. Did you have the surprise box from Univ of Chicago for your daughter? Open Original Shared Link
  18. Haven't tried them. Are you locked into a certain number you have to purchase? We did a beer of the month club BC (Before Celiac). It was fun for about 6 months & then we started getting some repeats. I think it might be a good way to try foods, & if you like them, you could buy more in the future.
  19. Allergic to grass is different. I don't know if lemongrass is closely related to the kinds of grass you are allergic to so it might be a problem. But its not a gluten/Celiac problem.
  20. I'm confused. I don't think there should be any problem with lemongrass or oils from plants that aren't wheat, rye or barley. First - there is no real evidence of "cross-reactivity" Second- gluten is too large a molecule to go thru the skin assuming they added gluten to it (but aren't you talking about just oil of a plant?) third - not sure how you...
  21. Thought of some more Cheese sticks/ string cheese are Ok un- refrigeratored for a few hours Same with little hummus cups and carrot sticks Individual packets or cups of guacamole or salsa with chips or carrots

  23. Please have your son tested before he goes gluten-free. Kids with Down's syndrome have a higher rate of Celiac than the general public. Open Original Shared Link
