  1. Never seen gluten in plain cottage cheese. Wouldn't eat off a cafeteria/ salad bar. That is likely to be cc'd when people drop their roll and pick it out or use the spoon from the croutons in something else, etc. it would be safest for you, especially in the first few months, to bring your own food. After you have had time to heal, you can take the chance...
  2. Fortunately, that isn't a very common dish soap. And, fortunately, the common ones like Dawn, do not add gluten. This brand appears to give the ingredients so one could make a choice.
  3. I don't think so but you could call the lab and ask. I'm remembering I had to fast, but that was for the cholesterol test they drew blood for at the same time.
  4. Sorry everyone who has commented- But did I miss something? She? said she is newly diagnosed. I would say she can't really know what she needs to cut out until she has healed. Cut dairy for a while as that seems to be hard to digest in the beginning. You may be able to add it back in later. Eat simple foods (not alot of multi-ingredient gluten-free...
  5. Then i wouldn't eat anything he made until he is ready to take your illness seriously. If he is interested in smoking safe food for you - you can put the grill/ grates in a self clean oven and run the clean cycle. Then scrape any soot off and wash well. Or replace the grates. Or cook food on foil or a foil grill pan. The easiest thing we have found...
  6. Steam wouldn't have large molecules in it. It's a gas. I think some of the beer could have splattered on your chicken. What else have you smoked on those grates? Things marinated In a soy sauce based marinade? Did he slop beer on his tongs and then use them on your chicken? So many ways this could be an issue.
  7. Unless you have a toaster, where each side is completely walled off from the other side, I would get a new one. The crumbs fall into those crumb trays and anytime you pick the toaster up, you risk the crumbs getting spilled into your side. I assume you have separate PB, butter, etc. or use a glopping method? a colander that has never had gluten pasta in...
  8. Usually, the first couple of weeks, we are hungry. It's our body trying to get the food/ nutrients we were missing. Being pregnant, that must be worse. Try to get some fats and protein to help you feel full. You can eat rice, beans, avocados, dairy, etc. there are rice and corn pastas you might like. You can put pasta sauces and cheeses on & in...
  9. I have heard of surprise parties, & surprise pregnancys but never a surprise endo! Open Original Shared Link
  10. Some other reasons to consider in getting an "official" diagnosis: - Some people won't take the gluten-free diet seriously with no diagnosis - Doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, etc do not have to give you gluten-free food - It is genetic. Having a first degree relative with it means you need to be tested. For example - your kids - Some Schools ...
  11. This was just on the University of Chicago Facebook page. You might find it interesting: "It is not. Five reasons exist as to why someone might feel better on a gluten-free diet. It’s crucial to understand which of the five is the cause in order to implement a safe dietary program. 1. Celiac disease 2. Non-celiac gluten sensitivity 3. Wheat allergy 4...
  12. You could print those out and take them to him. Make sure they show they are from the U of C website. He won't care what we say but if it comes from a doctor, maybe....
  13. If you have DH, you have Celiac disease: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link FYI: Celiac disease is not an allergy, it is an autoimmune disease.

  15. My 4 qt is my small cooker. I have a 6 that I use regularly. I think they work best at about 3/4 full. Maybe make another half a recipe. I also find that mine cook faster than the recipes say they will. What are you trying to cook? maybe I can help.

    ARCHIVED So Fed Up

Back to the original poster but this would apply to others posting here: you will have to stand up for yourself and your health. If you do not think you can eat something safely, you don't eat it. You can choose to explain it a few times to close family but ....Don't let them talk you into doing something you know will hurt you. If they can't prepare and...

    ARCHIVED Panda Express

This thread is from 2004. Any info that old is out- of- date. It is very likely that the grilled chicken is marinated in soy sauce. I would think there soy sauce is the cheaper, more common version, and contains wheat. Also, the risk of cross contamination from the other food would be great, in my opinion. You could email the company and ask but I would...
  22. Open Original Shared Link So you basically made hash browns with them?
  23. Whey is dairy.
  24. One Twizler might not be enough gluten to make you feel bad after 5 years gluten-free.
