  1. A gene test does not diagnose Celiac. It appears about 30% of the population have one of the genes that the US tests for (in Europe they test for another gene, too). Just having a gene does not mean you have Celiac. It has to "activate". Open Original Shared Link Do most people with celiac disease have the gene turned on at birth? For celiac...
  2. Maybe.... Just joking. Could you make the batter and freeze it in small amounts then thaw and cook? Same with the cookie dough. Portion it out into little unbaked cookies and then bake them later. Pancake batter should keep, maybe a week, in the fridge. I know I have been picky about frozen baked goods in my previous gluten life.
  3. Kelley, where do you live ( if you want to say)? Some places are in certain parts of the country. beauJos is a pizza place with gluten-free cheese bread which is like a grilled cheese. I had one that only ate grilled cheese but he would eat cheese toast. Minskys pizza in the KC area. I have found that if you take an older " kid", the younger one will...
  4. You might want to email Dr G at the university of Chicago Celiac Center. My teen doesn't have Celiac so the advice he gave me may be slightly different. Open Original Shared Link
  5. Have you checked out this? https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ What are the ingredients on your tea? That's the best way to see what is in it. There is a slight chance it has barley malt as a sweetener but it will say.
  6. Our schools use Youth Friends for school volunteers. The organization does background checks on in school volunteers that may be alone with a child. Then our school districts use these volunteers for one on one reading help, etc. it takes some of the liability out of having someone working with kids. Maybe the school district has something like that?

  8. Red Robin? He can eat the fries, too! If he will do Asian Pei Wei or PF Chang's.
  9. This thread is over 7 years old. Any product info is considered out of date as products change over time.
  10. Welcome! Here is a good place to start. Then read around and see what you can learn from others, too. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ Maybe you should get diagnosed if it will help you to take the disease seriously? Sounds like you don't quite believe you have a real need to eat gluten-free.
  11. Have you googled to see if they have any Celiac support groups that might be of help? This is the list C.com has. Not sure if there are any on there that would work. If you find any, could you Pm me and we can add it to the list for future info seekers. When you find things this summer, maybe you could add to this post, too. Thanks https://www.celiac...
  12. Just curious why you went for Enterolab over getting a doctor to order a Celiac blood panel?
  13. Maybe he just thought you would like a few days to "binge" on gluten? I had every blood test off the charts positive so I just went gluten-free after the endoscopy. It takes a while to get the diet figured out, so I know I wasn't perfectly gluten-free for a few weeks.
  14. You came on and stated as a fact that the chicken was "frozen in a broth that contained barley". When you were asked why you say that, you have no response other than your friend thinks that is the case. I am on the team that does not want to spread rumors or scare people about gluten in products that do not have gluten.
  15. You still haven't explained your accusation that Perdue coated your chicken in barley. I'm assuming that is something you just decided for some reason and have no proof of it. Please do not make statements meant to scare people about a product if you have no facts to back it up.
  16. Good question! https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/page-2#entry851855
  17. You do know that Dominos came out and said that the gluten-free pizza was not meant for people with Celiac disease? YOU are the one promoting this, don't you know if its on its own pan or not?
  18. When I was pregnant, my blood pressure would dip and I would get dizzy. I looked so awful one time that an ICU patient looked worried and told me to sit on his bed! I think, if I was pregnant, I wouldn't eat any questionable food like a restaurant. Especially in the first 4 months when things are a bit delicate.
  19. Would you like my wedding dress? Harem pants were popular. Jackets with big shoulder pads ( think Dynasty) Open Original Shared Link
  20. In the US, Dominos came out and said that the gluten-free pizza is not suitable for Celiacs.
  21. First, you are replying to a 7 year old thread. Second, please state reliable sources to support your " facts" as they are accusatory ( to the soda companies) and do not match up with generally accepted facts.
  22. If they say something like " no gluten ingredients. Don't know about the suppliers.....blah, blah". They don't test for gluten and have a legal department that told them to say that. I use them if they have no gluten ingredients.
  23. Celiac disease is not an allergy. Anaphylactic shock is not usually associated with Celiac, it is an allergic reaction. You can have Celiac and a wheat allergy or any other allergy. You need to be eating gluten to test for Celiac. The blood test looks for antibodies to gluten. You do not produce enough antibodies to gluten to show in a blood test if...
  24. What about things like Chex cereal as a carry along snack for the little one? Rice cakes ( even the non- gluten-free ones probably don't contain much gluten & wouldn't spread much gluten around). They are gluten-free and my " babies" ( now 17 &20) loved them. Switch her over to more naturally gluten-free snacks that the "regular" people eat. Maybe...
