  1. That is for accidental glutenings. Not on purpose ones!
  2. It can take a while, if he has Celiac, to build up the antibody response enough to make troubles. I think for small kids it can be a year. If its Celiac, its doing damage, whether you see it or not. Open Original Shared Link
  3. No. No logic. If your " meat" was full of what you ate, my son would look like pizza inside. Food is broken down and digested and changed into skin, hair, etc or usedas energy.
  4. We love the Schar baguettes! You cook them for a few minutes. The only cookies I have had are the plain shortbread biscuit thingys. They are like a plain shortbread tea cookie. Not very exciting. Kinnitoos are by Kinninick and are "Oreos". Very yummy
  5. But if you are getting hit by the bus once or twice a month and its effecting your life, maybe you should do something different. Sure, it's easier to cross in the middle of the street, but you might have to " suck it up" and walk to the light on the corner.
  6. I guess it was a rhetorical question then?
  7. At the risk of having you all say I'm an insensitive jerk - My answer to the title questions would be "maybe" If you are getting "glutened" or "soyed" at least once a month and it is effecting your job, you need to figure it out. It really isn't normal or healthy to have that happen. I don't know how long you have been gluten-free. If its just...
  8. That stilldoes not mean that carmel coloring contains gluten. (which is what we were discussing).
  9. I'm thinking that if you put a little ice cream or whipped cream on them, you could pass them off as dessert!
  10. a couple of Redbridge and some Schar shortbread cookies. They go better with wine but I didn't want to open any.
  11. Yeah. Very Dark brown. I think it's part of the rice.
  12. I find that some of the rice flour mixes have little dark brown specks in them. My hub calls them bugs but its just the rice flour.
  13. Being intolerant to corn does not make caramel coloring have gluten in it.
  14. You need to eat gluten to be tested. And the DH needs to be "fresh" from what I have seen.
  15. This has nothing to do with the original question but I'm going to respond. I don't know a lot about the tax laws, but I believe endowments are allowed. It would be silly for a charity not to have " savings " for a capital improvement or to tide it over when donations are low. Or to fund research or perhaps, scholarships.
  16. A wheat allergy is different than Celiac. did they run the Celiac blood panel? You don't have an allergy to gluten - you have an allergy to wheat or rye or barley. Open Original Shared Link "What’s the difference between celiac disease, gluten intolerance, non-celiac gluten sensitivity and wheat allergy? We use “gluten intolerance” when referring to th...
  17. More and more, I think it is a lifestyle or even a culture or community for us. You don't see hearing people debating if deaf culture / community is a fad or unhealthy. Why should they be debating our lifestyle? If hearing people want to learn to sign, no one says that is stupid or unhealthy for them because they can hear. If someone wants to eat gluten...
  18. Google " Celiac centers" and read what the experts say. DH is a skin form of Celiac. There are many rashes that are not DH. You can have the rash biopsied next to a fresh blister for a diagnosis of Celiac. A few reasons for getting diagnosed: If you are ever hospitalized, jailed or go to a nursing home, etc - these places do a terrible job, for the most...
  19. If the vegetable broth from the tuna had wheat, they would be required to list that. I don't see any reason the tuna or the plain ground beef would have gluten. Its possible, if it came from a meat counter that something from another meat product fell in the hamburger. Like some breading if they sell breaded cutlets in the same open case. Sometimes...
  20. Mine always come up here in KC when its still winter. Sometimes, like this year, they get snowed on. They usually do fine. I just have the generic daffys & tulips. The fancy tulips didn't do as well and I am a lazy gardener.
  21. There are many symptoms of Celiac. This is a link to common symptoms and has a link to the 300 symptoms of Celiac. Of course, they are all symptoms of other diseases, too. 22. And the experts say " NO!" Perhaps you could forward this info to your doctor who knows nothing about Celiac? this is just from 3 medical centers, there are more. Open Original Shared Link "A lifetime commitment The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage your intestine. This is true...
  23. Welcome. this is interesting. To be honest, I'm surprised you didn't have her blood re-tested. With her other issues, you probably go to the doctor often. Here's a thought. Celiac is genetic. It is posible for anyone with the gene or genes to get Celiac at any time in thier life. For example, my boys tested negative for Celiac. 3 years from now...
