    ARCHIVED Honey

Looks local to me. The article listed some brands that were problematic, if I remember. I don't even think this really had anything to do with gluten. Its sort fo the honey equivalent to meat red slime stuff. It doesn't contain gluten but its gross and not what you thought you were buying.

    ARCHIVED Honey

From the article she posted "Food Safety News decided to test honey sold in various outlets after its Open Original Shared Link found U.S. groceries flooded with Indian honey banned in Europe as unsafe because of contamination with antibiotics, heavy metal and a total lack of pollen which prevented tracking its origin."
  3. I think if the damage is bad enough that they can see it, the biopsies will have to be positive for Celiac. The villa are the first to be damaged and that is microscopic damage.

    ARCHIVED Honey

I commented because she seemed to be less worried about debating if honey would have gluten in it and more worried it was junk from India that was pretending to be honey. The mall has some honey: Open Original Shared Link
  5. Unless you live in the city where the gluten-free bread is made, the bread is frozen to ship. Some stores thaw it out and some leave it frozen. My WF thaws a few at a time. I usually ask for one from the freezer in back. If its thawed, I just put all or most of it in my freezer. Many people like the Pamela's pancake and baking mix. You could make a...
  6. I know you really hope you don't have Celiac but these links seem to say that the DGP- IgA. is very reliable. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/archives/faq/what-is-the-percentage-of-false-positives-for-dgp-iga "What is the percentage of false positives for DGP-IgA? DGP-IgA is less specific than DGP-IgG and should not be relied upon as a follow-up test...
  7. I remember reading someone on here a few years ago saying that they were told " white bread doesn't have wheat". I told that to my then 13 yr old son. He said, "Really? You can eat regular white bread? How is that possible? I better check that bread. Is some made with rice flour?" I figured if a 13 year old boy knew white bread was made with white...
  8. I didn't like those cookies. They tasted like dates to me, not a chocolate cookie.

    ARCHIVED Honey

I buy a local honey at the grocery. If you bought something from local farms, that should take care of if it is made in India.
  10. I have tried a couple of brands of lentil chips. Every one leaves me feeling blechy! I don't think its gluten, just the lentils? Flavorings? Sometimes cheese flavorings on chips bug me. Real dried cheese doesn't.
  11. Celiac patients have a very strong immune system. It is normal for anyone to get one or more of all thebugs that are going around right now. Open Original Shared Link Does the phrase “over-responsive immune system” mean that a person with celiac disease has an aggressive immune system rather than a weak one? Yes, so aggressive it mistakenly att...
  12. If she isn't eating gluten, she can't make antibodies. I think the <6 means that some people may make a tiny bit or more likely, its just a margin of error in the test. A 1 wouldn't mean anything. Open Original Shared Link "At what age should children get tested for celiac disease? Generally, children are screened for celiac disease at age 2 or...
  13. We eat at Beau Jos in Ft Collins. My son goes to CSU. If you are skiing at Breckinridge, at the base of Peak 8, just outside the Ski Hill Grill, is a coffee station with gluten-free food. Last year they had a soup, a chili, and 3 pain is made with sandwich petals. They had gluten rolls & cookies but they are completely wrapped before they are brought...
  14. Did you read the links I provided? I hate for you to waste your money on dubious " medical tests".
  15. I wouldn't think a few days would make a huge difference. You might want to get a copy of the tests and chek that they really did celiac tests. if you know gluten bothers you, you could have a Non-Celiac gltuen sensitivity: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  16. I almost posted this question last week! Gracie was sneezing but no other issues. She isn't sneezing now so I don't know what it was.
  17. I have a plastic box that we just leave all the possible items I would want to travel with. I just have a big strong man get it down, and I can choose what I need. The Same big strong young man who bought me a grill spatula with a wooden handle and painted it red. I also have a plastic container with stuff for packing a lunch and extras. When you find...
  18. Thought of something else. Do you have a local Celiac support group? Maybe someone would pick you up. I think your best bet is to ask the GIs office, the outpatient section and the volunteer dept ( if its a hospital). You could even call the fire station and offer to pay an off duty fire fighter for a ride. The ones here do things like that for free...
  19. Call the Gi/ op surgery that is doing your procedure and see if they have suggestions. You might also try social work at the hospital. Or a taxi. After anesthesia, you aren't supposed to drive for 24 hours. Do you belong to a church? Sometimes they have people to help. That's sad that your parents don't think it's important. A day or two before...

  21. Currently, there is no legitimate test for non- Celiac gluten intolerance. There are a few places that would love to take your money but they appear to have no science behind their tests. You should get a copy of the labs. See if they really ran A Celiac panel. Some docs run one thing or even read the results wrong. Not sure why. Cc- cross contamination...
  22. It is likely against health dept rules to take an old cooked burger and serve it in chili. I do not let them open the potato and I get the butter and sour cream in the little packages. I put the chili on the baked potato. Did you tell them you have a wheat allergy? I know Celiac isn't a wheat allergy, but that is something they understand. When...
  23. What I'm trying to say is, if you are in the US, its illegal to " hide " wheat. If they use an anti- caking ingredient it would say anti- caking ( wheat). However, because wheat gets sticky when wet, it makes a horrible anti- caking ingredient.
  24. In the US and Canada - wheat has to day " wheat". Or what type of wheat it is like spelt. But those " fancy" wheat isn't used in most regular stuff. Barley will say " malt" or use the word barley. Rye isn't really in anything but Rye bread type things. I always carry a packet of nuts or a nut bar like Open Original Shared Link
  25. Cooking in an oven will not get gluten into a dish of food. Unless you have crumbs on the ceiling of the oven that could fall in? Or the gluten food is cooking, uncovered, next to an uncovered gluten-free dish. One might splatter into the other. Also, bleach does not " kill" gluten. Gluten is not alive. Gluten must be rubbed and rinsed off of something...
