  1. I don't think testing is very inaccurate. I have seen several sites saying they are very accurate. It's just whether you get the right tests, the right advice to be eating gluten, a GI who will biopsy more than one place, etc that make it inaccurate. Open Original Shared Link "How accurate are the celiac blood tests? The current diagnostic...
  2. Not sure if extra people registration counts for us? I suppose I should run it by my hub?
  3. I did as patient and other if there isn't a patient option. No delegate. At least to get an account.
  4. Just created an account. You use other and patient for the degrees if you don't have or want to use one of the choices.
  5. It said one portion was for patients, parents, etc. I didn't try to register.
  6. I didn't have as many as you, but my are almost completely gone. They can be a hormonal thing, too.
  7. Open Original Shared Link ICDS 2013 Chicago September 22-25, 2013 Anyone want to go? I'm thinking about it but don't want to go by myself.
  8. If you have Celiac, you would be damaging yourself. Open Original Shared Link "The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage your intestine. This is true for anyone with the disease, including people who do not have noticeable symptoms."
  9. Just don't eat the plate!
  10. We like Herdez http://www.herdeztraditions.com/herdez/salsa_casera.aspx
  11. I'm asuming they have tested her for UTIs, Bladder infections, bladder injury or malformations? Bladder muscle control? Etc. I would hate for her to have a physical problem that isn't being diagnosed because they want to blame "gluten".
  12. That's a secret! Pizza rolls!
  13. FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! I have to disagree with you here! Wolfie is always eating her broccoli and stews. If, once a week, she wants to eat cake only for a meal.....I say ENJOY! No one thinks its odd to eat pancakes for a meal. Not much diference in my mind. corn meal
  14. The coffee cake needs some apples and cinnamon. Canned or fresh peaches or canned pie cherries might be nice, too. Or some fresh pineapple on top. Try to relax your mouth. Make a concious effort to have your mouth closed (open a bit is OK if your nose is stuffy) and don't let your tongue touch anything. It takes a little practice but this is a good...
  15. We were at robotics until half-time! the ribs were falling off the bone! I told hub to cut them up a bit and he picked up some and the meat fell off. I told he he failed and couldn't even do one simple thing I asked! I think Gracie, The Accidental Kitty wants to tell you what she had for Super Bowl. A piece of Velveeta! And she loved it! Throw...
  16. Those were gluten-free corn flakes? Regular corn flakes wrn't gluten-free.
  17. Add some wheat flour to moist cheese and see what happens. It makes a hunky pasty stuck together mess. On the off chance some company would be stupid enough to " flour" shredded/ grated cheese - in the US & Canada and few more countries, it would have to be labelled as containing wheat.
  18. It could be gluten. Could be a bit of food poisoning or stomach virus. I used to try to cook gluten-free and regular at the same time. It's very hard to do. You forget and use the same measuring spoon from the gluten flour to the gluten-free flour . You have 2 pots of pasta going and use the spoon from one in the other without thinking, and on and...
  19. I have teen boys that work and exercise outside in the summer heat. Lack of potassium was a problem for my oldest. We found that fruit juices like OJ, apple and grape have more potassium than Gatorade. Milk does, too. I googled " potassium foods" on the Internet and there were a few Medical centers or American Heart sites that had them listed. I would...
  20. Tater- wanted to say I love your name and picture! Last night we had " steak soup". Not sure why its called steak soup as its made with hamburger. I used some instant mashed potatoes to thicken it a little instead of the stick of margarine and 1/2 cup of flour. I made it so I could take some to my parents. I'm making them some BBQ chicken and twice...
  21. Cheese is safe, even blue cheese. I have found a couple of expensive specialty cheeses with beer - so those wouldn't be safe. Read the ingredients.
  22. I will say I have seen people use the term " cross reactive" in different ways. Some just mean they are intolerant to something and it feels like when they are glutened. It does not mean that the offending food had a gluten- like protein. For example, bananas make me burp and bloat much like gluten does. Some would say I " cross react" to bananas because...
  23. Your insurance wouldn't pay for that sort of unproven testing. This " cross- reactivity", the proteins are almost like gluten, theory has no real scientific merit that I have seen. People have posted all kinds of things on here to prove it - a woman with no medical or chemical training and a blog, something that looked like a kids high school sciene...
  24. Did you eat anything with the cheese? If all you ate was 2 bites of cheese for several hours, you might have made your stomach promises you didn't keep. It was hungry.
  25. My son was at Breckinridge yesterday, enjoying that snow! He doesn't have any classes on Thursdays!
