ARCHIVED Iron
kareng replied to AmyVC's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have that issue with iron pills, too. Didn't hurt me when I had diarrhea. as you heal, you will absorb the iron & B12 better. Make sure you take some sublingual ( put it under your tongue) B12. That helps your body use the iron you have. You might be able to just add iron rich foods to your diet. remember not to eat dairy with the iron food ( about... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
kareng replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
where's the protein? Cake for dinner or breakfast is OK once in awhile, but you consistently eat small amounts of foods and call it a meal. This isn't good for your health. -

ARCHIVED First gluten-free Trip Away This Week
kareng replied to Celiac Mindwarp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Glad it worked for you! I always bring more food than I need. Things never seem to go as planned. For example, A few weeks ago, we went to Colorado to visit oldest son and let younger one take a campus tour. I knew there was a place I could eat at the school food court, so I planned to eat a soup and salad for lunch. Just in case, I took a Go Picnic... -
addressing the genetic issues: about 30% of the population has the genes for Celiac. Only about 1% of us "lucky" ones have the gene activated. Accidental, occasional, glutening: It will happen. That doesn't mean that it is "destrying" you. If you have a postive blood test, you get it re-tested in 6 months. It should be way down or megative. Then...

I think you should email the corporate office. Tell them which one you went to, the date and time. Then what happened. This is a company with a corporate go policy and they might want to know. -

Perhaps half a Kong type dog chew toy? One of the kids broke something and distributed the pieces around so no one would notice? Something that fell out of a plane? A meteor from the far distant (and now extinct) Rubber planet? That give me an idea... alien rubber? -
ARCHIVED Board Upgrade - Please Report Bugs
kareng replied to Scott Adams's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
When the system was upgraded, any comments in your profile from other people, lost the part that showed someone else posted. It now looks like you posted them. It appears that, if someone was to comment or post on your profile now, it will show who posted it. I agree, it looks odd. -

ARCHIVED What Are The Chances Of Blood Test Not Showing Celiac Disease
kareng replied to hubicka's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
From the University of Chicago: Open Original Shared Link In blood tests, are false positives less common than false negatives? Even though blood tests are quite accurate, they are falsely positive 1-3% of the time (i.e., being positive without the person having celiac) and, although less commonly, falsely negative 1-2% of the time (i.e., being normal... -
Good to know its a real thing. I know someone who says she is allergic to eggs but would chow down on cookies and cakes. Of course she is also allergic to any foods she doesn't like, too. She is also the person who told me she researched Celiac alot because she thought she might have it. She found that the only way to know if you have it is, when...

n Unless 8 of those hours are meditation and intertube water polo, you have lost your mind. I have been searching for "coffee stirrers". ARCHIVED Board Upgrade - Please Report Bugs
kareng replied to Scott Adams's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I posted it because, right after the upgrade, a member had scanned and posted test results from thier computer. I assumed everyone could do it,too. maybe that was changed and they missed the Mods? Maybe none of us were meant to be able to do that. -
Sorry guys. I tried to see it as a guest and couldn't. Maybe only Mods can do this? Right after "The Big Change-over" a member had posted a scan from his computer of his blood work. Maybe that was tweaked out. I put the picture on FB, too.
