ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original

Aye, Wench! It be Talk Like A Pirate Day! Argh! -
I think I would ask them why it says that "contains " nonsense. Some companies seen confused & it might be OK. It might mean to them that they don't test for gluten but there isn't any. Or they could be really confused & you can't trust that they know which way is up. Do start a new thread. Or look for one of the old threads on the baking section...

I thought these tests "lit up" if its 20 ppm or above? The 20 ppm test can only test as low as 20. If it was less than 20 ppm, it could be 0 or 12 or 19. Not really familiar with them, but that's what I had heard from others who have used them. Seems the water from the inside of a glacier would test at less than 20 ppm. I guess I would wonder with...

I went to Thanksgiving dinner once and after dinner, we glued teeth back into the skull of a murder victim. I wish we had talked politics! & you know I had alot of wine! Anyway- will there be any kids there? I like to spend the time "hiding" by playing with the kids. -

What do you do if part of the lunch is warm & part not? Soup & an apple? Do you send 2 bags? I may get this for myself. Thanks for testing it. -
ARCHIVED Question For Australians

Don't know about your particular brands but - if its being cut for you in a deli, are they cutting other things on the same cutter that have gluten. This is a problem I have with our store. We have Boars Head which is all gluten-free but they have a few other things they slice, too, that might not be gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Kids Selling Gluten!

There needs to be dues to support the troop. You can have your kids mow the neighbors grass to pay them if you would rather. Call Grandma or explain you can't afford it. I don't think $25 a year is unreasonable as the troop supplies all the tents, cooking equipment , supplies for service projects and many of the supplies for various badges. -
ARCHIVED Cooking With Cast Iron Pans

Just summarizing the previous research/ discussions. Never said not to keep them. Just want them to be safe to use. Being diagnosed Celiac or intolerant is the beginning of a new life for you and your pans. You will make new history with your cookware! -

Have you been gluten free for 2 years? This is alarming for 2 years gluten-free. I will be checking back to see what others who know more say. -

That's a way to pay for the dues. It's used to buy trash bags for service projects, a new tent, etc. They can also apply the money to the fees for campouts. The church that sponsors us didn't want anyone excluded because of money so letting kids earn the money is a good solution. The $5 coupon in each book for any groceries makes them worth buying for... -

ARCHIVED Kids Selling Gluten!
kareng replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Our Boy Scouts say that every one must make a $25 donation if they don't sell a certain amount. We used to sell trash bags. Now we sell grocery coupon books. 2 different stores. We sell for $5 the troop gets $ 3 or 4 for each. In each coupon book is a coupon for $5 off at the store, so even if you don't use the other coupons, you get your money back... -
I bet that in Afghanastan, they aren't doing Celiac blood tests or elective endoscopies. They probably just want to see if they are on the right track before they send him home.

We have had this discussion before and the consensus is to put them in the oven during an oven cleaning cycle. Then re- season/ oi. -

No solicitation signs don't work for kids. I have gluten eaters in my house, so I will buy Girl Scout Cookies. I love the frozen cookie dough. My gluten eaters can make cookies with no flour flying! -
Did you ask them how to eat gluten-free? Can they help you get some food accommodations? Can you get peanut butter? You could put it on apples or something or just eat it with a spoon.

ARCHIVED My Eyes!
kareng replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Glad your eyes are better. M's started puffing up again & he took the Zyrtec and it went back down. Looks like his is probably ragweed. He isn't good at remembering to take it every night, so I expect he will puff up at least once more this allergy season. -

The purpose of dusting shredded cheese is to keep it from clumping & sticking together, right? Wheat flour would not work. When wheat flour get moist (from the cheese) it gets gummy. That said, I like the home shredded cheese better. -

Back to my original statement! If he isn't willing to work with you, what can you do? If he had some already cooked chicken, he could have thrown it in his bowl of chili. If there is stuff they really hate, I don't fix it for them. But just cause its not as fun as nuggets and fries doesn't cut it here. So frustrating! -

OMG! Grow-up, Jesse! If he doesn't like it, he can cook, help or at least make some helpful suggestions. Saying he hates your cooking isn't helpful. Now that I have spanked him for his inconsiderate and unhelpful remarks: What if on Sunday, he grills some chicken or steak or pork chops. Or put a roast in the crock-pot. You could add it to... -

Might be irritated skin from all the stuff passing thru. Wipe. Them wipe with a wet TP, then dry gently with TP. My OB/GYN said not to use a bunch of toliet/ baby wipes as they can make it worse. She said use diaper goo/ barrier to protect clean skin. -

Way to go Jess! Let us know if you actually get some money back! -
Have you reported this to your medical team or commanding officer ( however you're supposed to report an illness). Not thinking straight and needing a bathroom often probably isn't safe in Afghanistan - for you or the others around you. I would think they would want everyone at their best. Sometimes the dizziness & fuzzy thinking can be the result...
