  1. My BIL goes into raptures about it on cucumber slices. You could make the Baba Gaoush and use cukes & carrots to dip.
  2. Let's start with: Avoid all wheat, flour, rye, barley, malt ( actually barley) and oats. Did you eat anything with any of those in it? Cereal and candy sometimes have malt. But other things could, too. Do you share a toaster, butter tub, PB jar, jelly jar, etc with gluten eaters? Don't use a colander that has drained gluten pasta. Have you checked...
  3. I remember Old El Paso had wheat in it a few years ago. But the red enchilada sauce is Ok now. Not sure about the green. I looked for green ones a while back & any had wheat.
  4. Univ of chicago Celiac Ct does free blood testin every Oct. On the postcard they sent me, it said you must be eating a regular gluten diet for 3 months.
  5. Give us a full drunken report!
  6. Actuallly, most deli meat is gluten free in the US. Many even label gluten-free. I don't get them cut at the deli counter because there might be one they cut that Isn't. In the US, if they put wheat it in they must list it. Many companies, such as Con-Agra that makes Hunts, will list any gluten or oats in a product. You also previously stated that...
  7. That's fine if that is how you wish to buy food. You will find some posts on here that disagree with you on the Trader Joes. Many of the things they choose to label gluten-free are also listed as made in shared facilities or equipment. They do not say that they test on the website: this guide is a sampling of many of the products we carry in which...
  8. That's great! Love the Dr. Seuss!
  9. This is not true. Many companies will not say gluten-free because they don't test. It does not mean that there is gluten in the product. In the US, we have no official gluten-free labelling laws. Something saying its gluten-free doesn't mean they have tested it or taken any special precautions. Certain gluten-free brands do test & have deciatied...
  10. Please note : these posts are 3 years old. Any info about a product from these posts should be double checked.
  11. Not to scare Newbies: For most Celiacs, canned & frozen veggies are fine. Just read the ingredients. There is very little reason for most of us to worry. Your first post on here didn't specify you have been gluten-free for years and having problems. You must have said that somewhere else. We do have a section for super sensitives that...
  12. This could have nothing to do with gluten or food. I would make an apppointment with a general doctor. There are lots of things that could make you dizzy, achey, etc.
  13. Open Original Shared Link The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage the intestine. This is true for anyone with the disease, including people who do not have noticeable symptoms. It can take weeks Point out to your hub that Dr Oz and his friend doc on the show are not experts in Celiac...
  14. Stick a big sucker/ lollipop in thier mouth right before the blood draw. Also, give them some extra juice or milk for a day or 2 before the blood draw. Then some juice or chocolate milk before the appointment. My SIL draws blood for her job & these are her suggestions for the easiest blood draw. I used to work at a Children's hospital, kids...
  15. See if you can get copies. I don't know how it works over there. You can say your American friend has a Celiac expert to email to. Or something. Or even you might be moving,..... You can send them to the Celiac Center at the University of Chicago Med center but they want to email with the patient. Tell them that if they resist giving copies.

    ARCHIVED P.f. Chang's

They mix the gluten-free soy sauce and leave out one of the mix in things. We do the whole table gluten-free and share, so it makes that easier. I always ask because I never remember which one is wrong. I rarely use the soy sauce. The first time I went, we had a coupon for free gluten-free lettuce wraps. 2 of us had the lettuce wraps, 2 main dishes...
  17. Thanks! I have never tried them so I can't say. I wonder how you know if they really work or not? Like, home pregnancy tests have been tested and compared to blood tests & seem to be very accurate. Have these various gluten home tests been tested? May have to look around a bit.
  18. I think when you are new - the first 6-8 months for me- your system is so out of whack, it could be anything. One day I ate baby spinach fine, 2 days later, I ate the same spinach and it came out looking like it went in! Waited a week, fine. Then not fine. I don't think it was gluten or even that I have a problem with raw spinach or any of the other things...
  19. Just to be clear (and perhaps save ourselves some legal trouble), Are you saying that Dr. Fasano is indorsing this product? Or did you just happen to run across it in an ad or article while researching Dr. Fasano? I think the second is what you are saying. Just clarify for my suspicious mind. Thanks.

    ARCHIVED P.f. Chang's

Here's are favorites: Oldest, J will only eat the pepper beef. He doesn't share well, either! Hub & M like everything but prefer the Spicy Chicken and the Dali Chicken (very spicy). Or M likes to get the chicken fried rice. I love the egg drop soup & the snap peas & the lettuce wraps & the desserts. Really, we ave liked everything...
  21. This is from a few days ago. A response from the company.
  22. looks like you have a local group! Open Original Shared Link
  23. The oil doesn't affect the gluten content. The oil is gluten-free unless something is fried in it with gluten.

    ARCHIVED Citric Acid?

Many people probably eat them safely. But if you use the site google, you will see a lot of people have had some sort of issue with them.
  25. Wow! That's rough and very unpsilly! Poor thing. I suppose they tested Alzy for mono. Sounds just like my neice's mono. Went on & on. Swollen glands, sore joints, sooo tired. Hope they figure something out soon.
