  1. I've been veggie 14 years and gluten free 1 and 1/2. I haven't had a problem with it, nor have I felt the need to add meat back to make things easier or anything like that. My fam has always been super supportive, both about me being veggie and gluten free (I'm the only one for both.) I don't ask them to fix anything special, but sometimes they do anyway...
  2. I felt this way after I'd been glutened, early on in the healing process. It took me a while to realize I react to everything (just the mere act of eating) in the days after I've been glutened. Basically, I was irritating the digestive tract which was already pretty irritated from the accidental gluten. It also happened if I was getting low levels of cross...
  3. It could be. The first thing to check is cross-contamination in factory (assuming you already know all the labeling laws). I'd go through everything that's processed (and even things like trail mix) and check online or call the company to make sure they're gluten free and made on gluten-free lines. Also check your vitamins, prescriptions, and herbal...
  4. Did you get the plain tater tots? I checked when I was at walmart yesterday, and there were some with wheat, but they weren't the plain tater tots. And now I can't find them on Ore Ida's website, so I might have imagined it. I thought they looked just like a darker version of the regular tater tots, but they may have been these, which have wheat: Open...
  5. Apples or celery with peanut butter or another nut butter. Any nuts. Anything with beans or rice. You may try to find a protein shake mix that's gluten free (I don't know of any off the top of my head).
  6. Headaches and sudden onset depression are both symptoms of glutening for me. You may be getting low levels of gluten still, you may be dealing with the lingering effects of a glutening (they can last days), or you might be going through withdrawal. I also live in a shared household--I simply clean all utensils/dishware, etc., before I use them, and I prepare...
  7. I've also never had a problem with their tater tots or fries. Maybe you were feeling the lingering effects of a glutening when you started trying them? When I get a major gluten dose, I react to everything I eat for several days.
  8. I also gained weight after I started showing symptoms (I'd always been a normal weight). It took years worth of damage--I went 11 years without being diagnosed--for me to start losing weight unexpectedly. My weight's been steady since going gluten free and the symptoms of those 11 years all disappeared, so it was celiac all along--it just initially made...
  9. All Twinings teas are gluten free. Open Original Shared Link
  10. Have you had the blood test for celiac? If not, take that. You know better than your doctor when something's wrong. If the blood test for celiac comes back negative, you can still try the gluten free diet for a few months, but on the chance something's seriously wrong, you need to keep pushing your doctor for more testing in the meantime. If he doesn...
  11. A positive blood test is enough to diagnose celiac. Your doctor should have taken 5-6 biopsies, as intestinal damage can be patchy. It's also possible that he messed up with the biopsies or that your celiac isn't severe enough yet to cause substantial intestinal damage. Regardless of why the biopsy was negative, staying gluten free is a must!
  12. Yes, my exhaustion period didn't occur for a couple of months in, but I spent about a month pretty much unable to move. It'll pass. Might make sure you're not missing anything crucial in the vitamin/mineral department.
  13. I wouldn't trust the cutting board, if you used to use it with gluten things (esp if it's wood.) What all did you have to drink?
  14. Have you had an endoscopy to check for problems with your stomach? As well as bacterial overgrowth there (h pylori)? That would be my next step. I had RH when I was eating gluten. I'd eat something like a sandwich, and 2 hours later I'd be starving, literally shaking with hunger, confused, disoriented, wobbly, and feeling like I hadn't eaten in weeks...
  15. Yes, try him out with gluten free. Like a lot of people here, I gained weight after my symptoms started. I was a normal weight (135) until I started getting sick (~18 years old), then I ballooned up to 228 pounds over the next 9 years. It took me almost two years to fight my way back down to 155 pounds. I finally found out about celiac, and in the year...
  16. I'd try for ways to relieve the anxiety and panic. Some ideas: Talk to a doctor about your previous miscarriage & why it happened. S/he'll be able to give you good information about the chances of it happening again. Once you hear a doctor say how low the chances are of another miscarriage, it may settle down some worries for you. Likewise, have...
  17. Any chance she's pregnant?
  18. Wait, I'm confused... Why did you suspect celiac at first? Reactive hypoglycemia was one of the things that cleared up for me when I went gluten free--but the symptoms aren't like a glutening. I'm curious what (all) your symptoms are that led you here.
  19. The blood tests don't mean anything and shouldn't even be considered in your diagnosis with you having been gluten free before them for four months. The biopsy results don't mean much either. Stay gluten free. You feel better that way, so why would you go back to gluten? You don't need an official diagnosis for anything, and if you find you do, you...
  20. Kraft generally declares if their food has gluten, and they don't say anything about it on the website here: Open Original Shared Link but it does have natural flavors in it, which is something you should always check. Here's Kraft's certified gluten free list. Unless it falls under one of the categories, it's not on there: Open Original Shared Link
  21. Yes, it certainly sounds like you could be. And the carb lite could have affected your bloodwork before. IBS isn't a diagnosis--it's a set of symptoms! Saying you have IBS is like the doctor saying you have a headache when you tell him your head hurts...well duh! You need to find out what's behind the symptoms, so I'd go ahead and see a gastroenterologist...
  22. The concussions could be causing the memory problem. It's been a big deal in the world of college and pro football this past year how these minor concussions lead to brain damage and neurological problems later on in life, but by and large, they don't seem to occur at your age--it's more 40+ when the symptoms start occurring. You might do a brief internet...
  23. I would get your thyroid tested, as a lot of those symptoms can indicate a problem there. You could have a couple of issues resulting in these symptoms, so you might not find one thing that covers everything. Have you had your vitamin/mineral levels checked? For the gluten free diet, I'd continue for a bit, but I'd check everything in your food/drinks...
  24. Maybe something when you baked the crisp? Gluten residue in the oven? On the baking mitts? Maybe stuck to the pans or the utensils you used to get the crisp out of the pan? You might try using the arrowroot powder to bake something else, to see if it's the culprit. See this article here about gluten-free grains being cc'd: Open Original Shared Link
