  1. You are at risk of reduced life expectancy from untreated celiac disease. Properly treated, the disease does not appear to have an adverse effect. Treatment for celiac disease is, of course, the life-long adherence to a strictly gluten-free diet. The people I worry about are those that do not yet know what they have. My own diagnosis took five years...
  2. Good morning, all. Nothing silly to say.
  3. It is gluten-free.
  4. He was relatively new, and was just not meeting expectations. We decided to cut our losses. Never a pleasant task. I thought mimommy referred to Michigan, cuz she said that was where she was. I will see if I can call her Rachel.
  5. Hmm. The employee that I terminated this morning would probably think so.
  6. Elizabeth, I, too, have been down that road. It is a difficult journey, but your life and the cat's life were both better because of the love you shared. {{{HUGS}}} to you in this difficult time.
  7. I'm here. I am a bit disoriented due to the week. Friday is a public holiday here, and so our weekly cycle is disrupted. We got our delivery yesterday, which makes today pheel like Thursday.
  8. I'm here, but not for much longer. If Patti wants to build, I am sure that Momma Goose can find some help. I think she may know a builder.
  9. Hi, and welcome to the board. One of our members, irish daveyboy has a site where he has posted a wonderful collection of recipes. Open Original Shared Link There are some bread recipes there.
  10. A magnetic bum might help me avoid slipping off when sitting on a metal chair or bench. And it would be nice to think that I had an "attractive" ass.
  11. We have had snow, rain, ice pellets and sleet, and it is not over yet. Current conditions as I look out the back window is light snow. We are expecting another 5 to 10 cm in the next 24 hours. I think I could take what Susie and Patti are experiencing.
  12. Sarah, thanks for the update. Please keep in touch.
  13. I was retested after several years on the diet, and the negative result for gluten antibodies confirmed that I was successfully following the gluten-free diet.
  14. It is currently bright and sunny. But the outlook for tomorrow is for precipitation that belongs, not in spring, but the season recently ended. Ten or more centimeters of snow.
  15. Just popping by for a quick hello.
  16. I'm not sure where you are. In North America, there are some manufacturers of gluten-free pasta that do not use potato. Glutino is just brown rice. Potato seems to be the exception here.
  17. Lactose intolerance will not do any lasting harm, but will cause unpleasant effects. Gas, bloating and diarrhea are typical. The immune system is not involved--you just have residual sugars that are not digested.
  18. Anne, if you have been off meat for a prolonged period, the probiotics ("good" bacteria) needed to digest them may have died off. You should be able to find a supplement containing appropriate probiotics at a health food store. I am no expert in this field, so I don't know which bacteria in particular you might be missing. Perhaps someone knowledgeable will...
  19. As you begin to heal from the damage that gluten has been doing to your body, other sensitivities may appear. Some will be temporary; others may be permanent. As your villi heal, you begin absorbing things that you were not before. This causes many changes. It will take time. Stick with the gluten-free diet. For now, avoid things which seem to bother you...
  20. Plain coffee is gluten-free. Cream is gluten-free. Splenda is gluten-free. There is always a possibility of cross-contamination in an establishment where baked items are made on site and are a large part of their business. I drink their coffee from time to time without any ill effects. I prefer Second Cup, for what that is worth.
  21. Where is everybody? It has been raining all day, and the forecast is for ... more rain.
