  1. The circumstances cited in the article suggest that it was written in February of 2006. It was then that the testing was done at the University of Nebraska, and this article says of that:
  2. The board administrator has considered that request previously, and has rejected it. This section of the board (Other Food Intolerance and Leaky Gut Issues) mentions SCD as a topic area to help people find this thread.
  3. For those in the US, Open Original Shared Link in making your own, personal decision about McDonalds french fries.
  4. There has been extensive discussion here on an ongoing basis over the three years since that article was published. Those people in the US should look for those discussions and then make a personal choice. It is only in the United States that the question is open. The person who started this topic is in Australia.
  5. I would not do this, period. Here you can order a McD sandwich without the bun, but once the bun and patty have been in contact with each other, the meat is contaminated.
  6. I don't know if it is used in products that also contain gluten, but I certainly would not assume that just because a product contains xanthan gum that the product is gluten-free.
  7. Here is a post with some useful information. The list of trusted brands is, in my opinion, more valuable than any list of foods alleged to be safe due to formulas changing.
  8. Where is everybody? Tumbleweeds drifting through ....
  9. This is a very good point, and I agree entirely. Lawsuits will not help us, and each one increases the chance that a company will decide that the risk outweighs the benefit of offering gluten-free options on the menu. Help them to do the job better. Use coaching skills--always start with a positive, and end with a positive if you can. Something like: ...
  10. It is NOT gluten, if that is what you are asking.
  11. Welcome. 12 days would likely affect blood testing for antibodies, but would be less likely to impact the biopsy, as recovery there does not really begin until the antibodies are gone. The biopsy showed "Partial villous atrophy." Well, something caused that, didn't it? I'm not a doctor, but I think this is one of those situations where the question...
  12. You will get a disclaimer like that from almost any company you ask. Even the manufacturers who put gluten-free on their packaging often do not have such verification for every single ingredient they use. The disclaimer is for legal liability purposes. You may choose not to use such products, but by making that choice you will be excluding the vast majority...
  13. Good morning, pholks! Mild today with showers, but it will phreeze back up tomorrow. Off to work shortly...
  14. I'm so glad Peanut is still with us. Jess is right, all four of those functions have to be occurring for him to be considered out of danger. Many medications are not safe for certain species, and cats are among the most sensitive. We sell most products without batting an eye. We generally assume that the customer who picks up what she wants and brings...

    ARCHIVED Corn Starch

Check the bouillon cubes--some contain gluten. We use Bovril bouillon powder.
  16. My very first post on this board was in response to a survey that Molly was taking: I had been lurking for months, but joined so I could reply.
  17. Molly! It is wonderful to see you here.
  18. Kim, I am glad that you found my info helpful. Take care.
  19. My endoscopy was done just before my 46th birthday. I got the results two days after my birthday. I deliberately chose not to have the follow-up appt on by birthday, as was originally offered. I had had obvious symptoms for at least five years, but there were other things going back into my childhood that I now realize could be related.
  20. Among other things, that will log you off.
  21. That is what you would see if the cookies were blocked. You need to allow celiac.com to set cookies. The particular one in question is called forums_member_id and its value is your member number. If you need help, I will try to provide specifics. What browser do you use?
  22. On the main page at celiac.com, under the big title there is a row of buttons. The third one from the left is labeled "Forum / Board" and brings you to the home page here.
  23. Another possible cause of a false negative is that the immune system overall is impaired. Was a Total Serum IgA test done? This test must be in the normal range for the other test(s) to be accurate.
  24. Patti, great news about the house. These days it is very much a buyer's market, so to have multiple offers is amazing. I used to have butts, of the sort to which Suzie spoke, but I quit producing those in April of 1990. Hmmm, must sit down and ponder this. Perhaps approaching the problem from the other end will provide an answer. Amanda, I seem...
