  1. Yum! My kind of dinner!!!
  2. Just curious...where did you hear or read that?
  3. Open Original Shared Link INGREDIENTS: WATER, CANOLA OIL**, VINEGAR, MODIFIED CORN STARCH**, WHOLE EGGS AND EGG YOLKS+, SUGAR, SALT, LEMON JUICE, XANTHAN GUM**, (SORBIC ACID**, CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA) USED TO PROTECT QUALITY, DL ALPHA TOCOPHERYL ACETATE (VITAMIN E), PHOSPHORIC ACID**, NATURAL FLAVORS, CITRIC ACID**, OLEORESIN PAPRIKA, BETA CAROTENE** (FOR...
  4. I've also bought it and like it. My Wal-Mart has 3 different kinds available...in addition to spaghetti and fusilli, they also have penne.
  5. I would not try it either...just not convinced.
  6. MSG does not contain gluten so that's the good news! There are people who are sensitive to MSG though. The problem with Chinese food is that soy sauce usually contains wheat, especially in restaurants unless they have wheat-free soy sauce available. If you're in the US, the LaChoy or San-J tamari sauce do not contain wheat. My favorite Kikkomen is introducing...
  7. Check out the Buckwheat Bread thread: http://www.celiac.co...uckwheat-bread/ I really like this bread and plan to make it again in the next day or so. Scroll down to message #40 for the revised version. I've also made a couple of breads from Gluten-Free Baking Classics by Annalise Roberts (both the basic sandwich bread and multi-grain sandwich bread...
  8. Ham, nuked sweet potato and fresh asparagus last night. Tonight is too far off to think about.
  9. Possibly the DGP test (deamidated gliadin peptides). This is newer than the older celiac panel I had and is supposedly very sensitive. If there's a newer test than that, I'm not aware of it but perhaps someone else will know.
  10. I know there's a lot of misinformation floating around. In the US caramel color and maltodextrin are safe unless otherwise noted. Wheat, for instance, must be disclosed and cannot be hidden in a product.
  11. As far as I know, Jimmy D's Sausage Skillets are gluten free. Jimmy Dean is a Sara Lee company, which discloses all forms of gluten on the label. This info from the website: Open Original Shared Link INGREDIENTS: POTATO CUBES (POTATOES, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL [sOYBEAN AND/OR COTTONSEED OILS] AND/OR VEGETABLE OIL [CANOLA, SOYBEAN, AND...
  12. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 50 KB. The following file types are allowed: gif, jpeg, jpg, swf, png
  13. Personally I like the Mushroom House...it's just too cute! Pick out an image you like, email it to me and I'll resize it for you. ETA: Or send me the link to the image...
  14. That's what I'm eating right now (the Jimmy D Skillet with sausage) plus I added some extra green/yellow/red pepper/onion stir fry veggies, fresh mushrooms, bacon bits and two eggs. Yum!
  15. I'd love to see a place under the avatar for a person's location to be listed (optional, not required) and no more than a couple of lines. It was there when I first joined but I know it got out of hand with a zillion lines shown for some members.
  16. Breakfast for dinner works for me...kinda like an emergency meal as I always have the ingredients on hand. If I don't get my act together soon, that may be dinner tonight. Or I pull something out of my stash in the freezer (homemade soups, chili, etc.)
  17. I also use Suave products...not necessarily because my budget is lean but rather because I am cheap! I used to be a product snob but now I just want clean hair and frankly, I can't tell the difference. I also like Soft Soap and use it in my shower as well as at my sinks in the bathrooms and kitchen. I ditched my Bath & Body Works products. ...
  18. Even though I can make a pretty good loaf of gluten-free bread, I like to keep a loaf of Udi's in the freezer for times I absolutely want to have a sandwich. At $6.19 a loaf, it's expensive but worth it to me. And I live alone so it lasts for quite awhile...and much cheaper than eating out although I don't do that as we don't have gluten-free restaurants...
  19. I think homemade anything is always better than something out of a can. I also printed out some recipes for enchilada sauce...very easy to make.
  20. I do prepare Tinkyada brown rice pasta this way, too, and it works well. Don't know why it took me so long to discover the directions for it. The other night I also used this method for Heartland spaghetti-type pasta and it worked for that, too. Sure beats having to cook it so long.
  21. I'm looking at a can of Old ElPaso Mild Enchilada Sauce I have in my pantry and it does not contain wheat. It does, however, say it contains soy ingredients. So does it depend on the type (mild vs. whatever other kinds they have)???
  22. Yes, I do and just printed it out. Thanks so much for finding this info and posting it!
  23. Both my daughter and I have it. I suspect my mother also had it but died undiagnosed at a ripe old age in 1997. My son is adopted so I guess he has his own set of genes to deal with.
  24. My daughter has made these flourless black bean brownies and said they're really good. I haven't tried them yet. Open Original Shared Link
  25. Both my adult daughter and I have celiac (I was diagnosed in April and she in Aug.) I really think my mother also had it but was never tested for it. Her symptoms were opposite of mine but definitely digestive (she died in 1997). I've read a prevalence of 1 in 22 first-degree relatives and 1 in 39 second-degree relatives have a chance of developing celiac...
