  3. We don't cook gluten in our kitchen. My husband can brew his beer (he has his own pans and utensils for that), drink beer, and bring in gluten-y carryout food provided he is very careful and washes his hands before touching handles and whatnot.     Avoid California rolls unless they are made with real crab meat. Imitation crab often has wheat starch added as a binder.   9. Yep. Progresso is really good about labelling their gluten-free soups. The lentil one is my favorite.
  10. Five Guys restaurants only do french fries in their fryers, so those are safe. In fact, the only gluten items on the menu are buns for the burgers and hot dogs. All of the toppings are safe (and the burgers are good!).
  11. Yes. I had a nasty reaction and since a Think Thin was the only thing I'd eaten that afternoon, I suspected the sugar alcohols. I'm not a fan of them.

    No- for me it's the sugar substitute. I didn't like the taste and it affected my gut rather unpleasantly (nothing to do with gluten, just some of us react badly to sugar alcohols). I don't care about the "gluteny" factor- I preferred Lara and Kind bars over granola or cookie bars even before celiac disease.
  13. This is our favorite, too. We also like Mrs. Leeper's corn pastas. We've tried the Tinkyada several times and we just can't get used to it. Something about the texture seems off to us. We've tried different cooking times, etc. and we always get the same results.

    Lara bars and Kind bars are my favorites (especially the new dark chocolate-cherry-cashew and blueberry-pistachio Kind varieties- YUM). The chocolate Bumble bars are really good, too. Haven't tried any others...oh, except the Think Thin bars. I wasn't impressed.

  18. I craved beef and avocados for a few months- probably due to iron/B vitamin deficiencies and fat malabsorption. The cravings and intense hunger did wane as my gut healed and was able to start actually absorbing nutrition from food.
  19. About the Lactaid milk: that will only work if your daughter is specifically lactose-intolerant. If she's casein-intolerant (casein is a protein in milk that is a major allergen/source of food intolerance), she'll react to the Lactaid milk as she would to any milk.
  20. That's why I don't eat at Chipotle any more. I have successfully eaten at Qdoba several times- I always get the naked burrito (aka burrito bowl). The ones I've been to use spoons or tongs to handle all of the food items which lessens the chance of CC.

  24. If you can eat peanuts, these are good: Open Original Shared Link. Last Christmas I made these with chocolate chips (maybe 1/2 cup? I can't remember) and they were a big hit. If you can't eat peanuts I don't see why they wouldn't work with other nut butters.
