  1. I've found the product Adrenal Health by Gaia Herbs to be very helpful for adrenal fatigue, or simply to bolster me when I'm in stressful situations. It contains Rhodiola root and Holy Basil, with Ashwaganda root, Holy Basil leaf, Wild Oats, Milky Seed, and Schizandra Berry. Other ingredients are vegetable glycerine and vegetable cellulose. The herbs are...
  2. I received this reply today, to my query as to why brown rice was listed as "may contain gluten" on their site: "Thank you for pointing this out. The software used did not pick up the punctuation and listings correctly. The Gluten-Free Quick Start Guide "Foods/products that may contain gluten should look like this Foods/products that may contain...
  3. You can mail order Udi's bread from this site! Your 'someday' may be sooner than you think.
  4. Next month we will be traveling in Washington State. We are flying to Spokane, then will be in Rice for 5 days. After, we will drive to Bellingham, making that a 2 or 3 day drive through North Cascades National Park. Can anyone recommend places to eat or shop for gluten free foods? Anywhere that carries Udi's bread? Other supplies? I am much appreciative...
  5. Thank you all, I appreciate your wisdom and support. Although I've been gluten free for more than a year, I think it's just now sinking in that this is forever. I think I was hoping I'd heal and it would all go away. Reality sucks, and I need to get used to it. I need to focus on what I CAN eat, and how much better I feel, living gluten free. On good...
  6. First, I agree with what everyone else has said here. Limit your exposure to this nutcase. She is toxic, and you have enough to deal with to get healthy, without her poisonous input. Your grocery spending, which is VERY reasonable, is your business, not hers. When you have to be with her, imagine an energy bubble of pure white light around you, so that...
  7. I agree, Living Without is a reputable site. I sent an email to the editor to ask about this, so if I get a reply I will post it.
  8. Thank you for the information and the link. Good information!
  9. I am almost regretting going gluten free. Granted, I feel better now, as long as I STAY gluten free. However, it seems I get more sensitive to it all the time. It's frustrating! Just plain frustrating! Fortunately I don't have reactions as severe as those for some folks here, but I can't help but feel like I'm heading in that direction. Is there any...
  10. The Living Without site lists brown rice as possibly containing gluten, on their "quick start" information page for eating gluten free. How can this be? A typo, maybe? I thought all rice varieties are safe? (white, brown, Basmati, jasmine, etc)
  11. SandSurfGirl, that's a good idea, to check with corporate offices about safe menu items. At the restaurant where we were last night, about 95% of the items were pasta, pizza, or breaded, and the staff and chef seemed mystified by the gluten question. I figured the risk of serious cross contamination was pretty high. I was there for the people, not for...
  12. Thanks, Roda. I hope so. The dining cards are very helpful, save me a lot of talking that may not be understood. Information in writing is harder to misunderstand.
  13. We met with friends at an Italian restaurant tonight. I didn't know about this event until this afternoon. I checked the menu online, and decided a salad would be my only option. The waiter looked at me like he'd never heard the word gluten before, so I gave him my little "this is gluten and I need to avoid it" card from Livingwithout.com, to give to the...
  14. Question???? We are going to an Italian restaurant tonight, one I've never been to. It'll be safest for me to have a salad, but is Caesar Salad safe? Without the croutons, of course. We are meeting people there, was not my choice for dinner out. Thanks!
  15. We had pizza delivered from Extreme Pizza Saturday night. I enjoyed mine, first non-homemade pizza I've had in more than a year. However, they sent (and charged for) BOTH pizzas gluten free. My sweetie was not pleased, but ate hers anyway, said she didn't like the crust. We could've sent it back, but she decided not to. The biggest problem was the cost...
  16. Interesting. I've not had any bad reactions to them. My only problem is wanting to devour the entire bag in one sitting!
  17. Outback restaurant has a gluten free menu. I've eaten there several times, and had very good experiences. I hope this would be the same at each Outback site, but I've only eaten at the one in our area. I wonder if eating gluten free would be easier at a small, family owned restaurant, or at a big chain? Any thoughts?
  18. YAY!!! You just made my day! Thanks for posting this. We have an Extreme Pizza nearby, which I just called, and they DO have gluten-free pizza. It's prepped and cooked separately from the regular pizza. I told them to save me one for the weekend. It's been way too long... I love their Pandora's Box pizza.
  19. I just returned from a quick weekend trip to see my family. We traveled by car, so I was able to bring much of my own food, and contributions of a gluten-free cornbread mix and brownie mix to contribute to dinner, and Mrs. Lepers corn pasta for my dinner at the family meal on Saturday, since the main course involved breaded chicken breasts. (I ate my pasta...
  20. Hi, all. I'm just wondering if anyone has found that they are more sensitive to gluten and/or to other food allergens since going gluten free? Have you developed or discovered other food allegies after going gluten free? I seem to be much more sensitive now, after 15 months of gluten-free living. I wonder about other foods, but haven't had the courage...
  21. Jennie-O turkey breakfast sausages and patties are gluten free. I checked their website, as we use those at home frequently. They are fresh, usually kept with the ground turkey products, at my Safeway, anyway. Enjoy!
  22. Indeed, it's good not to be alone in dealing with this stuff. I finally got my FMS diagnosis after the usual round of disbelieving MD's, maybe 15 or 20 years ago, I've lost track. A year ago January I decided on my own, without testing, to try the gluten free route, hoping for a miracle. It didn't happen. However, some fibro symptoms are lessened without...
  23. Thanks, I might give it another try. The DePumas sounds interesting. If I were ambitious enough, I'd try making it myself. But that's another day and another story and another lifetime, perhaps.
  24. you, too, David? I'm sorry! thanks for the good wishes.
  25. Thanks to everyone for your replies and support. I called my doctor's office and requested a letter to excuse me from jury duty. I hope she will comply. I'm rarely deathly ill, but I never know when the fibro or the gluten issues will strike. Does make it difficult to make plans, especially for situations I can't control enough. Cross your fingers for...
