  1. We make it occasionally without any problems. I love it mixed with buttermilk for yummy ranch dressing.

That said, it does have MSG (monosodium glutamate) which is definitely NOT good for you (or anyone), and I've noticed my Celiac daughter can only tolerate small amounts of MSG without getting peripheral symptoms such as a headache or slight tummy distress. Those symptoms are simply because she has a sensitive digestive system, not because she is being glutened.

Thanks, I'm assuming it was ok for me I didn't react and rash on my scalp didn't get any worse. thanks for the reply

  2. We are thinking of taking our kids on a cruise in December. Does anyone have any advice for me as far as eating gluten-free? Maybe you've had experience with good cruiselines or bad. If I call ahead will they better accomodate me or am I on my own???? We are starting to make plans now and it might make a difference on which cruiseline we decide to use. I'm kind of freaked out about this, but I don't want to become a hermit. (I'm only about 7 weeks gluten-free and my husband is just starting and he says he feels better already)

Oops just realized I posted this on the wrong forum. I will repost it on the travel forum, but don't know how to delete this one.. Sorry everyone!

  4. I went up to the counter at McD's recently just to see what reaction the workers would give me when I questioned them about gluten. The lady barely understood my question, and looked at me like I was high when I asked if the fries were made seperately, on a dedicated fryer. Then she shook her head and said, "Uhh...noo." There is no way, in my opinion, that a fast food place is going to be gluten-free, with all the nasty cross contamination that occurs there. I know we all have to take a risk sometimes, but eating at a place like this is an awful big one.

My daughter worked at our local McD's and she said the fryer for fries was only used for fries. They have a seperate one for everything else.

  5. Anyone out there from Vancouver, B.C. who can answer this same question (lol - I hate my bread/toast going all crumbly, too!)

You can buy udi's online or ask your local health store to order it and save on shipping. It is GREAT, I don't miss bread at all because of Udi's!!!

  6. Good for you! I eat out a few times per week. My schedule is such that I just need to. I haven't gotten glutened eating out once.

Know where I get glutened? From my kids! In my house! I find it easier to eat out than stay safe at home. We are transitioning to a completely gluten free house because of it.

Lots of chains do gluten free. Sometimes it's not on their website but if you call the corporate office they will have a list of safe foods to give you over the phone. I'm working on a binder for my car with lists of what I can eat at different chains.

I'm surprised the italian place couldn't make you a chicken breast or something like that.

When you get the binder done, you should go into business of selling it on here! :)

  7. Definitely not age appropriate. Corn tortillas? I know some who bake their HD buns in disposable alluminum foil baked potato tins ordered off the internet, or take the english muffin rings and stretch them out to an oval shape and pour their bread dough recipe in and bake.

With burgers we wrap in a lettuce leaf but I wouldn't enjoy a dog that way. I just eat bunless with some grainy mustard for dipping and a side of sauteed onions.

Thanks I was really hoping to find someone that knew of a good brand of hot dog buns. That is the only thing I haven't been able to make taste the way they want it. (they don't like corn tortillas, I was looking for a good flour type tortilla too)

  8. I know you said no bunless dogs, but that's how we do them. To add variety, I slice them at an angle and pan fry. Then add just a dash of catsup or BBQ sauce at the end. Kiddo loves them this way in his lunch box. I also used to cut them like octopus and fish shapes. There are tutorials on the net on how to do it and it's not hard and can be done in batches in advance. Can be frozen. Just pan fry or boil. I've also make up a batch of corn muffin mix and pored it into the muffin tins. Cut a dog into lengths to match the height of the muffin tin and placed one standing up in the middle of the muffins and baked-corn dog muffins. Great for the lunchbox. Well, there are some more HD ideas. What about beenie weenie? Baked beans and franks?

The kids I'm speaking of are 17 and want dogs in a bun...lol I don't think they would like octopus or fish...lol

I should have told you this

  9. I just made this for Easter! I also top it with crushed gluten-free corn flakes and butter, adds a nice contrast. I use this recipe

    Open Original Shared Link

to replace all my condensed cream of something soups. I love it! Not as easy as opening a can but it is gluten-free:)

    Hope this helps,

    Hez

Thanks so much I'm sure this is what I was looking for! I am making a casserole today that calls for cream of chicken I will try it! Thanks again!!!

  10. I'm looking for a good gluten-free cheesy potato recipe my old recipe is as follows (if you know how to adapt it I would love it)

    1 bag hash browns

    2 cups shredded cheddar

    16 oz sour cream

1 can cream of chicken soup (this is where the gluten comes in)

That is all of the ingredients but I don't know how to change the soup into something gluten free.

    Thanks for any help!

  11. i am woundering how long it could take to get results from dapsone its been 3 days now and still breaking out could it be because its been 7 years with dh without treatment and i know most people see results in a couple days should i be more patient im taking 50 mg per day the doc told me to take 25 mg but i dont think its enough is it possible it can take longer for me to see results

Are you following a gluten-free diet? I followed a gluten-free diet for 1 month and my DH (self diagnosed) is gone! :)

  12. I secong this one! She also now practices in Marlette, Michigan a day a week, not sure which day.

She is good with celiac because her whole family has it. However, she doesn't use enterolab for testing and she had my boys tested and they came back negative and going with symptoms I am sure they have at least gluten sensitivity. I have active gluten sensitivity and it runs rampant in my husbands family. They also have eosinophilic esphogitis. But, I think if I have it done she would accept it as a diagnosis.

  13. I second the shampoo comments. My scalp DH didn't go away until I stopped using shampoos that contain chemicals and what not.. even if they didn't say "wheat" on the label anywhere I had the same reaction. Now I use Desert Essence Organics Green Apple and Ginger gluten free shampoo... it smells amazing and my scalp is perfect!

Where do you buy this shampoo?

  14. recently diagnosed as having active gluten sensitivity. I am wondering if the little tiny blisters that pop and itch on my scalp could be DH. It seems like since the gluten-free diet for 3 weeks I do not have as many blisters and the itching is much less. Should I have this diagnosed as DH or just let it go and hope and pray the diet heals it up?
