  2. I get that "lump in the throat" feeling when I'm hypothyroid. It's not an ache, just an odd feeling when I swallow. You don't want your thyroid burned out for all the reasons we're discussing. It will settle down on its own, and you will still be able to make some thyroid hormone "on demand". Be patient and let the diet have a chance to work.

  23. Yes that sounds like thyroid. Either Graves' or an overactive Hashimoto's episode. You need a thyroid workup, particularly TSH, and all three thyroid antibodies Ravenwoodglass mentioned. The various T3 and T4 levels are nice to have but most doctors won't order them until they find an abnormal TSH or antibodies.

  25. Sheesh. Just try going off gluten before you go on a PPI drug. You've had the testing done so there is no harm in trying the diet. If you're gluten intolerant you will have normal celiac tests anyway. Omeprazole really messed up one of my family members and it turned out she is gluten intolerant and allergic to garlic.
