  1. When I get glutened I go up 5 pants sizes and I swear I look 8 months preggie. This is not good as I'm 19 and single I have to keep cloths in two diff sizes...Kinda annoying
  2. Thanks for the replies I can IM my cousin but since he's new to this and his wife is going gluten-free with him to support him, he really doesn't get it. It's hard being the one sitting at Sonic eating ice cream and worrying if it'll be ok while everyone enjoys food you used to love. Sure I feel a lot better. But being different is hard! I...
  3. I still eat Chick-Fil-a... I get grilled strips with fries but NO ketchup! The ketchup is what always got me...if I leave it off I'm fine about 75% of the time...
  4. I hadn't no idea so many other people where feeling the same way! I go to a Christian church and we take Communion every week! And my Elder have been 'looking' into a gluten-free bread for over 10 months. AKA they forgot because it's not that important to them. My pastors wife's (God bless her) son had to be gluten-free for two weeks to prep for some...
  5. Hello all, I'm the only Celiac living in my house (and I've only got one cousin who has celiac) and I'm feeling kinda lonely. Every time I think I've over not being allowed to have gluten, it comes back and smacks me in the face and I just wanna cry.... Does anyone else feel like this?
  6. Major D about 30 mins after being CC'ed headache, swollen stomach (I usually got up 4 pant sizes) burping, mood swings, intense anger, so far I've only broken out once.... The swelling in my stomach doesn't go away for about a week... And joint pain
  7. Thanks! It's taken a lot of work...but we still do it. I cook lots of gluten-free meals, like tacos, soups, stews, etc. But if I have to make spaghetti and I don't have enough gluten-free noodles, I'll make gluten-free sauce, the meat, and everything else except the noodles. My Dad's pretty good about helping me out if I don't feel like touching bread...
  8. My biggest obstacle nearly makes me cry thinking about it. I live pretty much in the middle of nowhere, and it's fairly hard for me to get a hold of gluten-free foods. But the worst part is when someone says something like "Hey, let's go grab a pizza/burger/etc." And then I have to decline or even worse my family declines to go to "support me". Or when...
  9. My house is VERY mixed. I'm the only one who lives on the gluten-free diet. In fact I prepare almost all the food that's eaten in our house. So far I've been CC'ed a few times but I've kept it under control. I can't say I love making my sisters sandwiches or other wheat things. But I suck it up and do it anyway I keep most of my food in ziplock bags...
  10. The BEST iPod app is the "Gluten-Free Guide" by triumph dinning It's a guide (duh) that lists all kinds of food by category or search that are gluten-free! It's like 18$ but it's beyond worth it! It's the reason I bought my iPod.... *edited to add* I forgot to mention that it doesn't require internet to use the app...
  11. After I get glutened I suffer from insane insomnia. I have to literally force myself to sit still or even go to sleep. It's like I'm a little kid again who's had way to much sugar or something I tried tylonal PM but even it doesn't help much. I'm only getting a couple hours of sleep at a time falling asleep at 4 or 5 am and waking up at 9am
  12. I don't know if I had a trigger...persay. My life has been full of those 'triggering' events and looking back on life I've always had symptoms... But they just steadily got worse during my life. Loosing weight, failure to thrive, stress and anxiety, gallbladder attack, had to have it removed because it died inside me, emergency appendectomy, the most embarrassing...
  13. Wow. Reading these stories I realize that I'm not the only one!! I have quite a few stories that will NEVER surface again!! Ever. But I know that horrible "you've got five minutes" find a bathroom feeling!! and the "To late" feeling. Thank God! I've never actually pooped myself. But I've come close, and had some horribly embarrassing choice to...
  14. I've made the cake and the brownies, we always add extra butter because they do run a bit dry. Going to try the cookies soonish
  15. I was just fixing to start a topic along these same lines when I came across yours. Here's my little vent.... I am so freaking sick of having to cook every single freaking thing I EAT!! I'm 19 freaking years old I (hopefully) have many more years of life left and I don't wanna have to do this forever. But I know I'm gonna have too! I'm so sick and tired...
  16. I LOVE Betty Crockers gluten-free Yellow Cake Mix it's awesome! So is are the brownies and I'm planning on making a batch of the cookies soon....
  17. Aw! Your hubby sounds uber sweet!
  18. You are all so right, celiac is certainly not the worst thing in the world! As the sister of a special needs kid I can attest to this....I don't have nearly as many complications as she does.... And every kid if a gift from God.... If you think you are mature enough to have kids then you should be mature enough to understand that every kid is different...
  19. No Problem Now to convince my Grandma! =^.^=
  20. I agree...I'm not anywhere near old enough to get married (imho) but I pray everyday that God will let it pass over my kids.....
  21. I crave bread! Not gluteny bread but gluten-free bread! Like crazy!! I suspect it's because my Carb intact isn't that high!!
  22. Ugh! That would suck! I'm sorry things turned out like that....I hate getting glutened it sucks more than anything (I got glutened yesterday) Sometimes family can be a butt, I have one Aunt who every time I see her (which isn't often) she comments on how "expensive" and "spoiled" I am over my food.....I hate it when she does that and it makes me wanna cry...
  23. I suspect my Grandma who's had life long stomach trouble, thyroid problems, colon cancer, breast cancer, failure to thrive, she's always been skinny as a rail and she gains weight and looses it all the time.... I KNEW my cousin had Celiac as soon as I looked at him, his face is all swollen, he's HUGE but he doesn't weigh that much, he can't loose weight...
  24. I recently discovered KC Chili when I was on a trip to Nebraska and I LOVED it, I ate it with EnerG's crackers and OH MY GOSH it was so yummy!
  25. I've been wondering the same thing, my Doctor just diagnosed me based on my symptoms and such and never did any blood work, or a biopsy...And the more I've read things on this site about 'official' diagnosis I wonder if later on down the road I might need one? I can't imagine going back on gluten whenever I get glutened now the pain is unbearable.... So for...
