  1. Thank You! These sounds easier than I was expecting them to be.
  2. I used to get yeast infections but not have any symtoms except for the white flakey stuff. A course of antibiotics would actually make this worse and it would come back. I hope you are on some good probiotics after being on those antibioics for so long. Cranberry tablets (AZO) seemed to help me as well. I hope you can figure it out.
  3. Does it hurt? It sounds like a yeast infection.
  4. I would say my style of cooking is more like a short order cook than a chef but yeah I know what you mean! Sometimes it feels like that's ALL I do is think about food, shop for food and prepare food. I do enjoy it but it gets old. Actually I struggle more to keep up with the dishes than I do with the cooking/preparing food. There is always a pan in...
  5. Here's the list for items without gluten at Wendy's: Open Original Shared Link They DO NOT claim the fries are safe. They clearly say their fries are made in shared fryers and therefore not safe.
  6. The smell of bread makes me feel sick and I cannot enter a bakery without getting glutened from airborne flour.
  7. Tapioca flour pizza crust (there is a brand called Chebe that is tapioca based and wonderful but I have also made my own version of it several times for a quick crust or breadsticks). If you had asked me two years ago what tapioca was I probably would have said- "a gross pudding flavor" LOL!
  8. I hope this new approach helps you. You might want to make sure most your veggies are cooked at first. Some people have trouble with raw veggies in the begining just because they are hard to digest. Steam them in some of those microwave steam bags (I like to buy plain frozen steamer veggies) or chop and stir-fry on the stove top (with whatever seasonings...
  9. Yep, e-mail, call or at least do a search for that brand and see if others have posted about it before. I am not familiar with that brand so I can't say one way or the other. Let us know what they say!
  10. Another thing you can do is to try to stick to the perimeter of the store. I go in with my list, shop the produce section first then on to meats then I might go down one aisle (usually the rice or ethnic foods aisle) to get something I need. But for the most part I buy veggies, fruit and meat and then get out of the store. I don't like reading labels and...
  11. I get joint pain from soy. I can't eat Tostito's brand because they are made with soybean oil. I have tried them a few times since and I will get a little joint pain and fatigue everytime.
  12. Giving her full fat items is not the same as changing her to an all fried food diet. It's not like your dr said to take her to McDonalds everyday or something (which isn't a good idea because of the celiac anyway but you get what I mean I think). I think your FB friends need to chill. So many foods are high in fat and good for raising the good cholesterol...
  13. Perhaps a better adage would be "immitation is a form of flattery." I'm sure that I have seen you post that link before and that's where I got it.
  14. With dairy everyone is different in their level of tolerance. Some people cannot even tolerate that little bit. Gluten has likely dammaged the villi of your intestines. Lactase, which is the enzyme that breaks down lactose is produced at the tip of those villi. If you have damaged villi then your body is unable to process the lactose and you get that...
  15. Whoops! We were posting at the same time. Didn't mean to repeat what you said.
  16. Unfortunately your experienence is really common. Many drs don't know enough about celiac and the testing. I am not surprised she reacted that way at all. You might want to show this to her: Open Original Shared Link Print it out and highlight the tests that it says you need. Take a copy of that factsheet with you when you have your blood drawn...
  17. I just need to correct one thing. There actually is NO LAW in the US about how much gluten can be in a food in order for a company to claim it is "gluten free". Certain organizations that do gluten-free certification may have a rule of testing for under 20 ppm but that is not a yet law or standard. So, yes it would be good for you to limit the number of...
  18. IBS is not a diagnosis. It is a set of symptoms and a label given when they don't know what is giving you those symptoms. Pretty much all celiacs that have GI symptoms could be classified as having "IBS". You shoudl really get a copy of the tests they did to see what was tested for. MSG is gluten free. Some people have trouble with it for non-gluten...
  19. Hi! Sorry if some of you posts have not gotten responses. Udi's is good toasted but I can't eat it untoasted at all. It's not mushy like wonder bread if that is what you are looking for. The best I have found is Rudi's gluten-free bread, which I can eat toasted or untoasted. No gluten-free bread, however, is going to be the same as regular gluten bread...
  20. It sounds to me like you had some cross contamiantion you could not pinpoint in your 4th week that had you feeling bad. I only start to crave gluten foods when I get cross contaminated somehow. That your family will not support your gluten-free diet is a big problem. I'm sorry you are having to go through that because it would be so much easier if they...
  21. What type of candy bar did you eat? Also how long had it been since you had eaten last when you ate the apple, candy bar and juice? I get those symptoms for two possible reasons--I waited too long to eat OR I ate gluten, soy or dairy.
  22. Since the product you are asking about is soy milk and not water you should write to the company and ask if they use barley water or if they use any gluten ingredients in their product. There is a brand of rice milk called Rice Dream that uses barley water in the processing but labels it gluten free. There is also a brand of gluten-free breads and tortillas...
  23. I'm also in the South and close to the coast so we get a lot of hurricanes. I keep a stash in the closet that's just for hurricane season. I need to update it and add to it since last year but currently I have: A first aid kit lanterns batteries Several gallons of drink water Progresso Soup rice cakes peanut butter jam I need to add more...
  24. No one has mentioned this yet, but one of the most important things for me is that it's well organized and easy to navigate. Maybe I'm different from the average blog reader however. I don't realy "follow" blogs as far as reading them every day or every week. Instead, I like to search blogs for the type of recipe I am looking for. I hate it when I stumble...
  25. Are you talking about prepackaged cheese or cheese that you have sliced on the big slicer in the deli? There is a small risk of cc if you buy the deli cheese and have them slice it for you. If the bakery and deli is manned by the same people, the workers could be handling bread or cakes prior to filling your order. Or the slicer could be cc'd by meat with...
