  1. Oh, absolutely we all have different tastes. I just reread my post and realized you may have misunderstood. I Do like the Sam Mills corn pasta. I wasn't reccomending you look for Tinkyada (I like it only slightly better, just my personal tastes but I eat the corn pasta too), I was suggesting you might find Sam Mill's at Big Lots since you said in your first...
  2. I first tried Sam Mill's corn spaghetti after finding it at a Big Lots. I did like it a lot but I prefer the Tinkyada now that I've had a chance to try lots of brands. Anyway, you might want to check Big Lots if you have them in your area--it was very reasonable--something like 1.29 a package. My nearest store closed so I have not gotten it for over...
  3. I agree with the PP's. When a dr tries to push questionable products on you it's time to RUN in the opposite direction and find a new dr.
  4. I use about 3/4 of a cup instead. I have also used part honey and part sugar and played with using brown sugar as well. I don't like the graininess they get when I use all sugar. I bet they would be good with a touch of molasses as well. So many possiblities for stir in options too--almonds, walnuts, cashews, raisins, craisins, etc.
  5. I have made these with honey in place of the sugar and they come out bready, sort of like muffin tops. Yum!
  6. If I could find out this guy's address I would be tempted to call CPS, but like you said there's just no way to know how much what he said was true or in his imagination. People lie online all the time.
  7. I go through cycles where I have this problem. I have found for me it helps if I make a rule that I must eat a balance meal BEFORE I have a snack. Most of the time that works and I don't want a snack anymore. If I do still wnat a snack then I do portion control and put some in a bowl like Raven suggested. I would be lying, however, if I didn't admit there...
  8. I was thinking the same thing. I would hate to accuse someone I do not know of that but many Vietnam vets came back with that problem. It's sad to think this post comes today--on Memorial day in the US. A day when America is supposed to be remembering the fallen military members that have fought to keep us safe and free. I wish there were some way to...
  9. That's true Roda he may not be eating or drinking it on purpose, but could still be getting enough accidental gluten for an extended enough period of time that it has made him completely irrational in thinking and communication. I truely feel bad we were not able to help him, but as PP's said the person has to want to be helped first. we can only speculate...
  10. He has hypogycemia in addition to celiac. He made a post asking about celiac and hypogycemia and I replied because I have hypogycemia. I told him some of the things I find that work for me. Instead of thanking me for the food suggestions he went off on a tangent bashing the US military and blaming the government for his illnesses. He detailed what he...
  11. I do not use poppy seeds but I have seen McCormick brand at BJ's Warehouse--which is like a Sam's club or Costco. They were in huge spice containers. If you use them often you might look into whether you can get them in bulk at a big warehouse store for a better price than buying the tiny bottles. There is a membership cost of course, but I get my organic...
  12. BBQ chicken, green bean and potato salad, corn on the cob and possibly some banana "ice cream" for dessert. http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/stay-cool/how-to-make-creamy-ice-cream-with-just-one-ingredient-093414
  13. I'm not sure which different test your dr is using then. There may be some newer tests available today that were not available back then, but it is usually the same antibody tests that would be used to diagnose. See the information about testing and follow-up testing from the University of Chicago Celiac center: Open Original Shared Link Open Original...
  14. That's true! I'm 31, BTW. People IRL always think I'm older than I am, though. I hope that's not because I'm grumpy or depressing. You're right though, age is very much about your attitude!
  15. Yes, the blood test are not sensitive enoguh to pick up that small amount. Your body is more sensintive than the blood tests. Considering that for testign purposes it is reccomeneded people who have been gluten free for a while eat 3-4 slices of bread everyday for 3 months just to have a chance at a positive test, it seems like it takes a very large amount...
  16. Unfortunately, no. My symptoms upon re-introducing gluten are so severe that I cannot eat it long enough for testing. I have unexplained seizures, fatigue, pain in my joints and muscles, muscle spasms, muscle weakness, shaking hands, brain fog, as well as the typical GI issues when I am on gluten. Prior to going gltuen free I did not have any bad GI issues...
  17. Just so you know, for blood test and endoscopy with biopsy testing they reccommend at least 3 months of eating the equivalent of 3-4 slices of bread a day. So for those tests you would need to eat it longer than a week. I was just suggesting a week to give it a fair chance to come back--some people thinkt hey are fine when they eat one piece of bread and...
  18. I agree with Skylark. Drop the codex wheat products!
  19. Soy is in just about everything processed. From tuna to potato chips. It's in chocolate, tea, ice cream, canned broth, soups, seasoning mixes, salad dressings, protein bars and shakes...many other things...I've even seen soy in goat cheese before. Many gluten free products use soy flour and other soy products. Look out for soy flour, soy protein, soy...
  20. I second this! I love my slowcooker. And check out this blog: Open Original Shared Link (Everything she makes is gluten-free)
  21. Wow you are really fornutate to see it gone in 5 weeks! My rash (I never had it tested so I don't know if it was DH) took several months to go away. I think you are goign to be hard pressed to find a GI dr that knows about DH unless they are a celiac disease specialist as well (maybe your celaic chapter person can help with that). Did you have any other...
  22. All of my grandmother's brothers and sisters (my great aunts an dgreat uncles) were like that, but it had to do with their religion. They didn't believe in going to drs. My great uncle died of a heart attack while my dad was trying to help him--my dad pretty much carried him to the car and said, "you need to go to an emergency room". He fought my dad tooth...
  23. Your right, Irish Heart I did not mean any offense at all. My Bachelors is in psychology, and I have studied the different generational stereotypes and some of them do hold true when studied. I am a former social sciences researcher interested in this type of thing. There are characteristics that are common based on the years people grew up. Historical...
  24. Oh Please! Karl, we have done nothing but point out to you that many of us have multiple other diseases, INCLUDING the ones you yourself have said you have. This board is full of compassionate people and they have listened to you, tried to relate to you, as well as shared their own struggles with you and how they have overcome them. These are NOT REBUTTALS...
  25. Have you gotten a copy of your records to see what the numbers were? The guidelines for what is considered hypothyroid changed in 2002, however many drs are still not aware of the changes. See here: Open Original Shared Link I have also read that some people can get diagnosed with hypothyroid if their tests consistly show a change toward hypo but may still...
