  1. I'm fairly private at work so I do understand your wanting to separate worklife with personal life. But I hope you remember that these people don't know you. If they ask you anything at all, they're probably not trying to be mean, most would just be attempting polite conversation since you seem fairly new to the job. Maybe now would be a good time to lay...
  2. Just wondering, is it a feeling of being truly winded, or a feeling like no matter how hard to breathe in you don't feel like you're getting enough air? I've had the latter in the last few months when I was going through a little weirdness with my stomach - that and a little chronic nausea. The breathing "thing" was pretty severe and I even underwent...
  3. This question of resuming gluten for testing doesn't have an easy answer for some and all comes down to whether or not you really need an official diagnosis. Problem is that there is no guarantee that you'll get the answers you need through biopsy - it can still come back negative for Celiac even if you are indeed intolerant to gluten. So whatever you decide...
  4. My symptoms/reactions were totally neuro too, and I quickly found that I had to completely and strictly eliminate all dairy and soy - someone told me that it was the similar protein makeup of the three foods that my body rejects. I had already eliminated msg and most food additives/colorings years before while I was still in search mode as to why I was always...

    ARCHIVED Newbie

I am extremely intolerant to gluten and still tested negative for Celiac disease. If removing gluten is making you better, please stick to it. I've been strictly gluten/dairy/soy free for 16 months and it's bettered my life in so many ways.
  6. OK, I'm going to go against the "grain" - pardon the offensive term...I don't want you to forget that your husband is usually so considerate and has always been your biggest cheerleader in this. I know narratives sometimes lose their details, so there may have been good reason and back story for you to feel anger because he was hungry and wanted to eat the...

    ARCHIVED Thankful!

I feel the same way everyday of my life. So grateful and thankful that I can feel great again. For years I was dizzy and foggy and fatigued. I live most of my days now downright giddy that I figured out why. Best of all, I've got back my creativity and forward thinking.
  8. No, I knew exactly what you meant. I have never gotten a positive result on a celiac test. And I've read that it's common that some have difficulty trying to explain this to friends and family in the absence of some sort of official test result (or maybe even when the results are positive). I think the biggest hurdle for some is explaining why "all of...
  9. Brain fog, lightheadness and the disconcerting feeling as though I would "blip" out of consciousness at any moment were 99% of my symptoms prior to going gluten free. You don't have a credibility problem on this forum. You don't owe anyone else an explanation.
  10. My symptoms were largely neuro so the only time I felt abdominal discomfort at all (even prior to going gluten free) was when I went through a bit of gluten withdrawal within a week after removing every bit of gluten from my diet. It felt like someone had taken a fork to my entire intestines. And the dizziness that I felt prior to the removing gluten was...
  11. Sounds like even I can't screw that up!!! ha I'll be giving that a try this weekend. Thanks so much.
  12. Excellent - how do you make that? Do you just put rice in a blender and strain? Don't laugh - I'm not exactly the domestic type.
  13. Oooh sounds good right about now. I also like making hot chocolate (if you can have rice) with Pacific brand rice milk, cocoa powder, raw honey (but sugar would certainly work) and a dash of sea salt. Soooo good. Make sure the rice milk is Pacific brand though, I think it's one of the only ones truly gluten free. I'm pretty sensitive and I don't react...
  14. This is intriguing but I'd hate for anyone to do this thinking that they may be able to go back to eating gluten. And I guess I should add the $900 was to clear every group I showed intolerance to (they said over 10 - quite a sick puppy) and included some flat fee that I don't recall, but yep, pretty steep. I still can't get over that muscle testing...
  15. Tom2 - I know you were serious. I first read about this practice many years ago, but back then they were using food substances in glass vials. I was fairly skeptical but at a Natural Health fair prior to me finding out about my intolerances I agreed to be muscle tested and it was interesting to say the least. This was done with isolated frequency signals...
  16. You've asked some great questions that I think speak to the crux of a major problem. My definitive "diagnosis" is negative for Celiac. What I have is Gluten Intolerance, it's serious, and I have responded perfectly to the strict avoidance of gluten, dairy and soy. My mother had the same neuro (only) symptoms I had for as long as I could remember. She...
  17. This was fascinating! Thanks for the info.
  18. Being truly cruel would be believing that someone was suffering and choosing to taunt them anyway. Being truly ignorant (or in denial) means they really don't believe, and therefore they don't understand. It sounds like your husband is the latter. I know it doesn't make it much easier to bear seemingly cruel comments from him for all those years...
  19. Just an update on all this. I'm feeling much better now, back to my old post-gluten self. I've read about alot of people taking a step back in their symptoms and I can only say I seem to have experienced that first hand. In my case, I think it was the synergy of a few things that started the ball rolling, giving me mystery nausea and weird stomach spasms...
  20. This might sound a little hokey but is it soy based cheese? There's a bit of controversy about humans and the true health benefits of ingesting soy. Perhaps the dogs sense it may not be good for them. Not sure...just remember I put the hokey disclaimer out in front.
  21. I'm a big believer in the subtle - and sometimes not so subtle - effect of simple food intolerances. And I totally agree with others here that additional food/environmental culprits seem to show up once you've made headway with getting the gluten out of your system. So - are you dairy and soy free as well? I didn't feel good until a few weeks after...
  22. Hey! Maybe the caterer's cute! (Just kidding!!)
  23. I read your post and guessing "I hate this diet" is what's really going on here. I know you don't want me to trash your friend because you acknowledged yourself that she was only trying to be supportive as a result of your complaint. Truth is, you know the score. You know what celiac/gluten intolerant is and what it is not. It's absolutely not fair...
  24. I'm with everyone else here, the procedure is not bad at all so don't worry about that. And even if everything comes back negative for Celiac, that doesn't mean that gluten isn't getting to you. I'm one that always tested negative, but gluten, dairy and even soy were doing a number on me. And I'll never go back to eating it. Let us know how it goes...
  25. Your story reminds me that even before having to be gluten free I'd get an upset stomach from drinking teas or other beverages from those commercial dispensers, but could drink them w/no problem if I prepared them myself or trusted the source. Wonder if they clean those things regularly. Maybe your system is more sensitive these days.
