  1. Thank you for such great information and support. I am very dairy light right now and do have a plan to tackle my dilemma. Dairy free for 1 week, then soy free. I did just give up coffee less than 2 weeks ago and I'm finding that the teas I'm drinking are bothering my stomach. I only add honey to them so I'm experimenting with that too. Today is day...
  2. Is the McCormicks imitation vanilla also gluten free?
  3. OH MY! I just checked the package date and it says Oct 31, 1997. How did I get a box that old????? Very interesting.
  4. Hello, I had some Chamomile Tea in the cupboard for a while now and it was labeled "gluten free". I also had an unopened box that was not labeled "gluten free". I went to the store today and found a couple different types that were labeled gluten-free. Checked on their Chamomile Tea and sure enough it was not labeled gluten-free. I emailed the company...
  5. Hello, I just saw them in the grocery store tonight. Wondering if they would make a good casserole topping? Anyone ever tried them? Opinions? Thanks
  6. Congratulations. What a great job you've done for her as a mom! And kudos to her for sticking with the diet! I'm very happy for your family.
  7. How do I know whether to go dairy free or dairy light? I do eat dairy every day - mostly cheese, parmasen cheese, and yogurt which I thought were pretty low in lactose. And how much dairy can I have if I go dairy light? Once a day, every other day, once a week? Thanks!
  8. Hi Paula, I'm sorry he's still having trouble. Thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family.
  9. Well, it's done. I'm not overly impressed, but it's not too bad either. White bread/french bread isn't something I'm real fond of non gluten free so I'm not surprised. Seems like the texture will work as stuffing. If not, I think I'll try a corn bread stuffing next time.
  10. Well, it's in the oven now. My regular mixer had dough hooks I forgot about because I've never used them. I was surprised that the dough was smooth and easy to work with. Guess I expected a heavy thick dough. I used water and corn oil - wasn't sure if my olive oil would be too heavy(it's not lite). Great idea making the extra into hamburger rolls. ...
  11. Thank you, Joni I never knew soy milk was so heavily processed. I'm doing more 'from scratch' baking all the time. I don't mind it when something comes out good Glad to hear you can have soy in moderation. I'm not sure what my local grocery carries. I'll check there for some of the trusted brands you mentioned. Luckily, I don't have serious...
  12. Oh, yes it does! Thank you I did not see it at first. I'm so relieved. Your the best ptkds!
  13. Hello, So, I'm getting ready for my first gluten-free Thanksgiving. Bought GFP French Bread Mix. Thought I would bake it up today, eat some with dinner and freeze half for stuffing for Thanksgiving. Looked at the directions I need a bread machine! I don't know what I was thinking but I don't have a bread machine! The closest thing I have is an old food...
  14. Thank you. I will look for it at my local HFS. I definately need something different.
  15. Hey missy'smom, Just curious- do you get that at a Health Food Store? I can't stand taking the pills any more. It feels like they just lay in my stomach so I haven't been consistent. How do you take it? Mixed with something or sprinkled on food? Thanks!
  16. Sweetfudge, I've been thinking about doing the allergy testing but I dread doing it. I know I shouldn't think that way, but I don't think I can handle another food problem head on right now. I keep trying to completely eliminate dairy and I'm finding it too hard so I went dairy light instead. I did just read that dairy can cause constipation, never realized...
  17. Hey Lisa, thank you for that information. I will keep an eye out in case dairy seems to be bothering me. The thing is I have no immediate symptoms from consuming it so I didn't really think it could be the problem. I did switch to soy milk upon diagnosis, but I'm going to really try to stay away from dairy for a couple months. I'm only going to eat cheese...
  18. LOL! I'm laughing because Mi Del Cookies were one of the first gluten free foods I tried. OMGosh, I could not even bite through them. My whole family (not gluten free) tried them and my kids felt terrible for me because that was the kind of food mom had to eat. So, it's nice to know the K-toos are better in case I ever want to try again!
  19. Hello, I'm upset to say I'm having some of my old celiac problems again. I've only been gluten-free for 3 months and it took about a month to finally see my bloating start to reduce. Lately all my symptoms have come back, the bloating, constipation, burping and fatigue. I never totally stopped eating dairy, but went dairy light and it seemed to be fine...
  20. I used to eat Nature Valley Granola Bars from B.J.'s Club all the time. I wonder if they carry them? The price is nice, too! Thanks for posting.
  21. Hey all, Really yucky, wet, rainy weather here today. I did take the dog out for a walk and stretched my leg muscles some. I can't wait to be back running and exercising. For some reason I've been bloated the past week. Can't figure out why and I'm really hoping it's not an additional food intolerance popping up. I never did go completely lactose free...
  22. Well, it's good to know the water is not necessary. I've used this recipe for a long time prior to going gluten free and never thought to try it without the water. It was on a box of lasagna noodles I bought a long time ago.
  23. Yay! I'm so happy for you. It must be a great feeling! Joni

    ARCHIVED Hypoglycemia

Hi Sugar, I had the same problem before going gluten free. I would eat and have to eat again within 2 hours. I always felt hungry and never felt satisfied except right after a meal. My blood sugar dropped to the point of blurred vision several times. I asked my Doctor and she said that it could be related to not absorbing the nutrients needed due to Celiac...
  25. Yeah, and several pounds of poop. I think it's very unsanitary to keep a horse inside. Not to mention they are grazing animals and need to nibble on grass and hay. I think it's sad for the horse. I do feel bad for this poor woman, but I think she needs another source of help.
