  1. Forgot to post it yesterday, but I weighed 135.2. Don't want to post what I ate the past 2 days because I ran around with kids 2 for school shoppping and errands and I wasn't too well prepared. I ate a lot of Black Bear potato salad, NOT good~! Is it cheating not to post because I know I did bad? LOL! I'll be back to the grind Wednesday so I know...
  2. I just found out this week that General Mills and all it's brands will clearly label wheat, barley, rye and oats in their products: PLEASE NOTE: This is a list of all their brand names, all labels need to be checked but gluten will be clearly stated. I took out their bread and pasta brands. Baking Betty Crocker, Bisquick, Gold Medal, Pillsbury...
  3. Hi amberleigh, I kind of feel the same way you do about celiac. I was just dx'd a month ago and keep looking back trying to piece it all together. At first I didn't really think I had any symptoms, but then I find that I did have some different things going on a different times in my life. I'll give you a little of my background. I've only started...
  4. Oh darn! I just came from shopping and think I saw the Namaste products in the store. I'll probably go back in a month to get more supplies and I'll check it out if it's not real expensive. So many things are so overpriced. My mom bought me a Tastefully Gluten Free Baking mix and it has a recipe for pizza crust. I also bought a Brown Rice Baking mix from...
  5. It is a great source. It was a pricey $25.00, but it has detailed information on every ingredient a celiac should question and which ones are safe, and it has all the current FDA regulations. Theres a section about vitamins in foods and vitamin deficiencies of the celiac, some general baking hints and a few recipes, and a list of gluten free products and...
  6. Hello! Sounds like your doing really well. The challenge sounds like a great plan to lose weight! Good luck to you and your duaghers. I finally wrote down what I ate today starting this morning. Breakfast: 1/2 cup soy milk 3/4 cup Perky's and Gorilla Munch Cerials 1 Tablespoon Flax Seed ...
  7. I wonder if it is in the flavorings. I had a reaction to cheddar flavored Blue Diamond rice crackers or it could have been a mini almond joy that day. Something made my head way off.
  8. I hope the Doctor figures this out for you blueeyedamanda. At least it hasn't been going on too long for you. Every time I bring it up, I'm told that it's probably hormone related since I'm 43. I do have a prescription for Ambien, but am trying all the natural remedies first. I think your working on changing it before it turns into a real pattern. Tonight...
  9. Hey jaten, I have a book titled "Gluten Free Diet" by Shelley Case and in it it says this about caramel color: * Although gluten-containing ingredients (barley malt syrup and starch hydrolsates) can be used in the production of caramel color, North American companies use corn as it has a longer shelf life and makes a superior product. European companies...
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome all! Hey Beth, it does sound like we're on the same track. Good for you going to nursing school. You have plenty of time for children after that. They are a lot of fun! My life totally revolves around them now. I'm a soccer coach, girl scout leader, go to all school trips and parties, etc. Sounds like you have a ton...
  11. I also have the neurological symptoms more than the intestinal problems. I never had D, but get constipation from gluten. It has been so much better on the gluten free diet, but it's also hard to pinpoint an accidental glutening. My vision was great and I felt wonderful the first week and 1/2 off gluten, but have felt lousy ever since. My vision has been...
  12. I don't know if it's normal or not, but I know my eyes ache when they shine the light in them. My eyes are pretty sensitive to the sun and even when it's overcast out, I wear my sunglasses. I'm sure ladybugpumpkin will know that answer! My appointment with the eye Doctor is Sept. 12th.
  13. FInally got hold of the OBGYN office today! I am sooooooooo mad at them. I left 2 messages last week, one on Monday morning and one Tuesday evening. No one called me back so this mornig I called and the receptionist said she left them the messages, but they could be busy. Uh, sorry that's not a good answer. I went off telling her that I NEED to talk to the...
  14. Hello Everyone, I think this thread is a great idea! It's nice to have a support group. I'll tell you a little about me and some of my goals and then go back and read more of this thread (I only got to page 7 so far). I'm 43, have 2 children a boy age 7 and a girl age 9. I was diagnosed with celiac August 1st and went gluten free the same day since...
  15. Yes, I really should make an appointment for the eye Dr. It's over due. I'll have to check around locally and see who has this. I wasn't really happy with the other eye Dr. anyway and that's why I didn't go back to get the prescription corrected. missy's mom, if you have a scar are your symptoms constant, mine change from slightly blurred in one eye which...
  16. Since I had my daughter 9 years ago, I've noticed the vision in my right eye would sometimes be blurred or doubled. It's like I see ghost images and it's accompanied by slight pain over my right eye and on the side of my head. I can't judge distance as well and and seem to drop things a lot while this is going on. It comes and goes and sometimes I can see...
  17. hathor, that's exactly what happens to me. Once it was really hard in the middle and very soft on the edges. I haven't seen Bionaturae anywhere yet, do you buy that at a regular grocery store? I don't want to do mail order either. missy's mom, I haven't stocked with any flours or gluten free items for 'from scratch' cooking yet. Can the powder milk be...
  18. I change different types of Crest's all the time. Unfortunately the box is gone, but it was Whitening with Tarter Control Mint. Is Tom's of Maine safe? I used to use it, not too tasty but all natural.
  19. Thank you both. I will try a different pizza crust or (cough, cough) attempt to make one myself. I will time the pasta a couple minutes earlier next time. I don't like it mushy.
  20. I've tried Glutino Pizza Crusts twice and didn't like the way they came out either time. The first time I 'toasted' the crust in the oven before adding toppings and it came out too hard and crispy. The second time I added the toppings first and then put it in the oven and it was too doughy. Is it that hard to get this right or am I just being too picky...
  21. I'll have to check into those 2 things. I just had a colonoscopy, would Crohn's and Ulcer Colitis show up on that? I don't really have any other symptoms and never really had a lot of cankersores before going gluten free. I'm leaning toward a glutening or two. I have tried really hard to be safe, but I have also tried a lot of different foods in a short...
  22. Yes, it was great news - thank you! I tried the mask and earplugs last night. I ended up taking out the earplugs very early in the morning. I will keep trying, maybe give it a month or so. I also bought an Inspiration Light Therapy LED Lamp that I'll also try. Maybe that will help. Has anyone ever used one for sleep problems or depression? DId it work...
  23. I'm wondering about that now that you mentioned it lorka150. I never had the D, but always C and I have also had a bit of that. I also had a wierd vision problem for 3 to 4 days. It is possible I got glutened at several different places. I'll have to retrace my tracks. I did eat out at Red Lobster and had shrimp, scallops and lobster with no sauces except...
  24. I just went gluten free August 1st. About a week ago I had a cankersore show up right inside my bottom lip, but lower. That started to heal and now I have one on the side of my tongue. I've only had them very rarely in the past, but never on the tongue! It's under the right side and hurts like $#&*! My tongue also feels kind of numb on the tip...
  25. My eyes get twitchy. I guess that's what to call it. When I try to read, my eyes seem to jump from word to word instead of go smoothly. I lose my place a lot. Sometimes my vision gets blurry in my right eye.
