ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
Joni63 replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Donna, I so agree about the not breaking out! I never had a clue it was the makeup that was bothering my face. I tried so many brands that were hypoallergenica and fragrance free thinking it had to be something else causing the breakouts. I've also worn mine several days in a row and am thrilled at the results and the greatl condition of my skin. It's wonderful... -
I'm not really sure what advice to give you. I think it is probably best not to try to convince her that she does have celiac at this point, especially since she is so resistant to hearing anything about it. Sometimes the harder you try to make a point, the more determined a young adult will become. Since she is in the medical field, is there some way...

ARCHIVED Rice Dream
Joni63 replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I guess the response confused me. So...what they are saying is if it tests .002 percent barley, it will be labeled as gluten free because that is what the law allows? How are we ever going to figure out which products to trust from here on out? I bet there will be so many new products labeled gluten free that won't actually be 0% gluten. -
ARCHIVED Rice Dream
Joni63 replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I want to change from soy milk to rice or almond. My mom was in the grocery store today and told me she saw Rice Dream. So if I read the package carefully and there is no statement about barley, it should be safe to drink? Where is this label on the carton? -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
Joni63 replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My first foundations were too dark and they made every pore show. I also think I was putting too much on in one spot, partly because it was new to me and partly because I was using the Eve Dual Fiber brush that seems to clump the makeup on in spots. It's good for under eye concealers though. The intensive seemed to bring out more lines than the other... -

Glad to hear your makeup worked out for you! I decided to order some finishing dust. I figured I liked everything else so far... I think they are the same brush - the description fits. The right brush really makes a big difference. LOL! I am so with you on this! Doesn't it really look so nice and natural? You'll be stopping in... -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!

Hi Laura - I usually apply it mixed with moisturizer, but tonight I was in a hurry and used it dry. It worked ok, but definately better when mixed. The brush is supposed to be a foundation brush but I think it's a little too small and the foundation seems to get concentrated in one spot. For concealers it does a nice job. I want to order either the... -

Apple does sound nice. I keep going back to the website and checking colors. I'm definately hooked! I really like the Sunlight Concealer. It really helps my dark circles a lot. And the Premium Foundation brush is what I put it on with. The brush seems to put the concealer in all the right spots. Does anyone know about the finishing powders. What do... -
ARCHIVED I Don't Like The Breads Yet
Joni63 replied to bakingbarb's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I also love the ground flax seed in recipes. Haven't tried the flax bread recipe yet either, but it's on my list. I'm finding I like the more textured gluten free stuff. I never ate white bread before and loved the whole wheat in foods and that seems to be carrying over to my gluten free baked goods. I made pancakes this morning and they had corn meal... -
I just wanted to tell you that my thoughts and prayers are with your sister. I hope she gets some answers very soon.

I think this stuff is awesome! I love the fact that you can mix makeups. Anything you order can be made into a decent color by mixing. You can't go wrong. Plus, it's fun to be abel to "play" with makeup, lol! -
I can understand how you feel. My children have yet to be tested, but it's on the horizon for their annual checkups in February. I have talked with both of them (7 and 9) about it and I'm including them in my cooking and experimenting with gluten free foods just in case...they both are mature enough to realize it is a possibility even though neither of them...

ARCHIVED Do You Have Your Blood Drawn The Day Of Your Gi Dr. Appointment?
Joni63 replied to Joyous's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was amazed when I went to see my GI doc and he said I needed bloodwork done. He turned around and came back sporting a needle. Talk about a shocker, I never expected him to do it right then! The funny part is I had both kids with me (ages 7 and 9) so I didn't want to look nervous or anything and had to be very cool abou the whole thing. I never had time... -
ARCHIVED Flattened Villi Visible, Still No Diagnosis
Joni63 replied to mrskchart's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's good to know your feeling better on the diet already. I just wanted to say that if I were in your situation, I think I'd be looking around for another GI doctor. Your naturalist doctor sounds really good, but if your GI doctor can't diagnose you with celiac I doubt he'll be very adept at treating you and your symptoms. This is a great forum with... -
ARCHIVED So I Glutened Myself...
Joni63 replied to An-Onion's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's so hard not to get glutened, especially in the beginning. One month I glutened myself every week for 4 weeks in a row. It was like every time I relaxed about eating I would get something with gluten in it. For me, not being able to concentrate is a huge problem when glutened. Also my vision gets really wierd too. I can't believe how much better my... -
ARCHIVED Christmas Eve/christmas Menus
Joni63 replied to Green12's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This thread is making me hungry! Traditionally, we used to have turkey and stuffing and the works. But it became too much work to do that meal on Christmas so we usually have: Ham Scalloped Potatoes Green Bean Casserole Candied Yams Usually Pumpkin Pie, but I might try a Banana Cream pie or Apple Pie this year Cookies - Chocolate chip, rolled... -

I ordered their eyeliner brush. It works very nice. It has a thin tip, but yoi can always make the line bigger by going over it again. It's good to know the written descriptions might give a better indicatin of the colors. Even the color chart they sent in my sample pack is hard to decipher. Thanks for the tip. Yes, the samples are very... -
ARCHIVED I Don't Like The Breads Yet
Joni63 replied to bakingbarb's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Has anyone ever tried adding soda/cola to their bread/muffin recipes? It was a tip in one of my books that is supposed to help make the recipe turn out lighter? I made dumplings the other night and they were like raw thick dough balls in the middle, ick! But I didn't use the exact flour mix that was stated in the recipe. I'm beginning to think that does... -
ARCHIVED A New Weight Loss Support/accountability Thread

Hi everyone, I've been doing good on and off. Trying to get back into is so hard once I'm off track. It's my biggest downfall in dieting/exercise. If anything throws me off track, I struggle like crazy to get my workout/eating habits back. Still struggling, but...Luckily I only gained a few pounds through it all. I went back to the mypyramid.gov diet... -

I am really pleased with this makeup. I love the eyeliner, Smokey. It looks so natural and you can make it as light or dark as you want. Very nice and it will last a very long time. Luckily my foundation colors were pretty close. I'm not sure which type I like though, I tried intensive, original, and matte. I need to order another sample kit so I can try... -
ARCHIVED Diets For Celiacs (discussion Thread)
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you hathor, you are very knowledgable about diets I've never even heard of. Wow metraezme, your diet is working so well for you. Congrats on loosing 100* lbs and reaching that terrific weight of 124. You must be very proud of that accomplishment. I think it's great that you eat so much raw food. I've read a lot about the importance of the... -
ARCHIVED Diets For Celiacs (discussion Thread)
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi hathor, Thank you for your reply! I am open to any and all diets. I'm sure there are different diets that are best for different individuals and I respect that. I was hoping that people could just post their experiences with different plans and what has helped them. I have never heard of the McDougall diet, but I'm interested in learning and reading... -
Hello, I've been researching different diets and am trying to come up with a really good eating plan for life. Not fad, not something that doesn't give me all the nutrients I need, but a real way of eating that is healthy. I'm hoping others who have tried some of these diets can give their opinions and experiences about them. Thank you! Some...

I think it's probably due to the holidays and all the additional orders they're getting. They could have been short on some items and had to wait to get them in. Hope you get them soon juliem. It's hard to wait over a week (10 whole days for me) when some people were getting them in just a few. On a good note, they are here and the packing slip...
