Hello, I have a Girl Scout Troop that has made about 100 cards and is now collecting unwanted or extra Halloween Candy in order to make Christmas-y bundles to send to our troops, along with the cards. I've started looking around online and found Fisher Houses in the U.S. where wounded soldiers families stay near medical centers. Anyway I emailed one about...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Lasagna
Joni63 replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I edited my recipe because I use 1/2 cup water in addition to some sauce on the bottom. The water is really needed for the noodles since they are not boiled. I think it would come out dry without it. It is fast that way. Hope you enjoy it! -

ARCHIVED Help! Need Bread Crumbs
Joni63 replied to Tephie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I found some made by Southern Homestyle called Corn Flake Crumbs. they are distributed by the SoyNut Butter Company in IL. They work pretty well for me. They come in a round red cardboard container just like regular bread crumbs. -

Wow. I can see where you would be surprised. Did you have any symptoms prior to testing or just get tested because your DD has it? I have heard there is a high rate of false negatives with the blood test results. I'm sure you will be fine. You just need time to let it sink in. At least your already past the hardest part with knowing more about gluten... -

Thank you, I do feel a little better. I never heard of the Activate Immune Complex, but I'll see if my health food store carries it. So far the Airborne seems to be doing something and I'm only taking the child's dose. Wow Liz - that's great about the 8 year old. Unbelievable that he's doing so well on the gluten free diet. It's strange how many things... -
ARCHIVED Lactose Intolerance And Protein

Can you do soy? I drink Silk Soymilk plus omega-3 DHA and it has 7 grams of protein per cup. Brown rice has 3 grams of protein per 1/4 cup. Can you eat chick peas? My mom makes a great hummus (sp?) that I spread on crackers. I can get you the recipe if your interested. I have a can and need to learn how to make it myself. They have 6 grams of protein... -
ARCHIVED How Many Of You Eat gluten-free Food...even Though It's Processed In A Plant
Joni63 replied to Kara'sMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just a quick FYI on Walmarts Great Value Brand products. If they are labeled 'gluten free' they are not produced in a facility or on lines with products containing gluten. I called recently about their mixed nuts and they told me they don't consider them gluten free because they are produced in a facility with wheat products, but not on the same lines. I... -

Good morning everyone, Rebecca47, sounds like your off to a good start. Isn't it nice to be able to go out to a restaurant and eat safely? I've been lucky so far and really enjoy the chance to get out once in a while. Hey Liz, glad to see you back. I think most of us have really been struggling with food lately. I don't post what I eat most of the... -

I will usually eat products made in the same facility, but try not to eat the products made on the same lines. I just don't trust that the lines get clean enough. -
ARCHIVED Tostitos Salsa Con Queso
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Glad to know you don't get any reaction from there Salsa Con Queso. I was concerned because at the bottom of the list it says all there gluten free products are produced on the same lines as their gluteny products. I usually don't eat products from the same lines and still new and trying to figure out my reactions. Their Salsa Con Queso is the best! -

Yes, I'm feeling really tired and crappy. I'm getting ready to take some Airborne. I've taken it twice in the past week to try and nip this cold in the bud, and it did seem to work both times. It just seems to be persistant so I'm ready to chug some more. Did you ever try it, it's an herbal supplement made by a school teacher to help prevent colds? Cheese... -
Hi, I just wanted to say that I've only been gluten free for 3+ months and the whole first month dealt with left side pain. It felt like it started up under my rib cage and would work it's way down from there. It was not constant, and finally has gone away. I think it was just my body's way of reacting to the gluten free diet. I had a lot of strange...

Hello, I know that the Fritos website says that their gluten free products are produced on the same lines....but does that also apply to their salsa's? I switched to Utz Restaurant Style Corn Chips, but still use the salsa. Have any of you ever had a problem with any of the salsa's? Thank You! -

littled, it sounds like you have a lot going on right now. Of course I remember when I wanted our first child and I kept thinking I wanted to wait until the "right" time. Believe me, that time would have never come for us. Luckily we just decided to go for it, and it was the best decision we ever made. Sounds like you'll be able to sell your house pretty... -

Yes it is Joni! Oh my, he is certainly being tough trainer. When he said take it up a notch did he mean the pain level? Calf muscle pulls are horrible. Mine is only in one calf and I know how hard it was getting around for a week, I can't imagine having both pulled at the same time. I think I'm going to try to get back into jogging tomorrow. I still have... -

Hello, I've had problems with caffeine or regular coffee for quite some time and even read up on caffeine allergy. Seems I have so many of the symptoms. ARCHIVED Horrible Reaction & Thanksgiving Is Coming
Joni63 replied to seaking's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm sorry your having problems with your mother. I don't think some people can understand how serious the reactions can be. I also think you should find another place to go on Thanksgiving under the circumstances. It's not worth getting sick for days for one holiday. I hope you find a solution to your situation that makes you happy. Maybe in time your... -
