  1. do you eat the Chex plain, or with some type of milk? (I myself do both.... eating it with some type of milk, or nibbling on it by itself throughout the day ). most chocolate has at least a small amount of milk in it. i agree that it could be the soy, but for me, i get pretty much the same sypmtoms if I eat dairy... and sometimes it takes up to...
  2. That is cool, Rowena!!! a couple months ago, I posted on my blog here about what my Bishop told me. But I can share a synopsis here he had to ask other Bishop's then get back to me. Come to find out one of the other Bishops' also can't have gluten . that was cool to know. I had said I'm gluten intolerant... so my bishop suggested, if i can manage it...
  3. I was diagnosed w/ hypothyroidism in spring of 2004. When I was told i had this condition, i remember going to do research, and seeing a lot of info saying that some dr's wouldn't test anyone ounger than 30 because 'they were too young to have thyroid problems. *I* was almost 27 at the time, and had been having symptoms for a year before i went to the dr...
  4. I live in Boise, idaho. It's not too bad. Of course, part of what makes me say that it's not too bad, is that I don't live very far from Jake's Gluten-free store! Yes, it's expensive, but...sometimes, ya gotta do what ya gotta do (I do try to get items that are available cheaper other places at said other places). The gluten-free sections at both Walmart...
  5. see if there's not a Terry Reilly clinic in your area. Hope you can figure out what's going on!!
  6. hey, girl.... i'd been wondering how you've been doing!! So sorry to hear about the problems today... live & learn!! Hope you get fellin better soon, and have a merry christmas. ps... i understand about not being able to go to church due to health issues. For most of the last 3 years, every sunday it's a guessing game...
  7. I bought the Cherry Cordial ones (figuring if I couldn't have them, my DH could eat them)... couldn't find any alleregen info on the bag, nor on their the regular or holiday website listed on the bag... which, IMO was kind of pathetic-- they could put up all sorts of recipes & other stuff, but no allergen info. I was going to try to call their Customer...
  8. I believe all of the salad dressings by Maple Grove Farms of Vermont are labeled gluten free. I find them at my Walmart here in Idaho.
  9. I try to avoid soy when I can, but can eat it (at least in small doses) with no apparent issues. Yes, I have thyroid problems, but none of the 'bad' thyroid foods ever seem to bother me.
  10. that is sooo cool!!!

  12. Congrats! Awesome! Excellent! way to go!!
  13. That IS a glorious moment!! YAY!! hopefully things will continue in such a positive manner!
  14. for me, going gluten free hasn't been easy, but it's easy compared to the other things I have to deal with in my life! As my siggy basically says, I'm a spousal caregiver to my DH.... and I myself have multiple autoimmune issues (and I'm 'only 34) And, right now, I'm trying to figure out fructose intolerance (ever try to figure out how much gluten-free stuff...
  15. So good to hear stories like this! A couple days ago, i commented in another thread about something similar w/ 2 of our local walmarts... *hopefully* the one i go to most will be able to do something about my comment (I was told it's the corporate office that decides what stores sell what, but they'd look into it) and add cold cereals to their gluten-free...
  16. there are recipes online for homemade rice milk.
  17. I'm In Boise, Idaho, and at two of the Walmarts here, the gluten0free section is on the end of the baking isle. One thing I've noticed, though-- they sell a variety of Bob's Red Mill Products, including a few that are NOT gluten free...muesli being the one i remember seeing. It's not labeled gluten-free, of course, but I think it's put there 'cuase that's...
  18. Sorry i didn't get to finish my intro blog until now. Something happened when i tried to post all of it. anywho, dealing with the limited diet due to Ic has been fun! adding even more intolerances to it has been more fun!! In May i was dx'd w/ Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (PFD, problems w/ the pelvic floor muscles, due at least in...
  19. I heard back from my bishop. here's a link to the blog I posted about when I first talked to him. https://www.celiac.com/blogs/entry/1461-a-few-good-phone-calls/ He said he did talk to his DIL, she says she takes the smallest peice of bread on the plate. Apparently she supposedly can also manage one oreo once in a while... she is trying to figure...
  20. You know how the grocery stores/ bakeries donate any unsold bakery items to charity?? (trust me, years ago, I benefitted from this a few times). My neighbor (who doesn't know I have a gluten/ dairy intolerance... I haven't told very many people). Anywho, i guess she was at a church today, and they had some of these items. (why she was doing something...
  21. I love this... for more reasons than one ...Pres. Utchdorf is an amazing man:)... I have had to slow down quite a bit in my life over the last five years, due to my DH's as well as my own health issues. Slowing down has been a godsend for me. There is no way I could go as fast at everything i used to. Now i get to take time to care for myself, as well...
  22. i just now came across this thread I have lived in Utah or Idaho my whole life, and have NEVER gone skiing...lol (grew up in Utah, have lived in Idaho 10 years now). could never afford to. Eden is a beautiful area (so is Park City...) but i don't think I've ever been to Eden in the winter... i can only imagine how pretty it is this time of year...
  23. I have seen them in the gluten free sections at both Walmart & Fred Meyer (crap, you guys dont have FM in SLC any more, i forgot!). i just bought some for the 1st time last week, to have on hand if i am tempted by the oodles of chocolate chip goodies that always magicly appear at our house during the holiday season... if i have my own chocolate chips...
  24. i haven't figured out all my intolerances and all that jazz yet, and i know this might sound weird, but it seems to me that whenever i eat brown rice (from what i understand based on a very little bit of research, brown rice has fructose in it), i get Post Nasal Drip a few hours later.... and the days i don't eat any brown rice, i'm fine. (will be eliminating...
  25. That's pretty much how i made my cornbread a couple days ago, too . I have a funny feeling i might be making some more before T-day... my husband keeps asking for 2 pieces of it each night at dinner! Glad to hear the meal went well!! That's awesome that your parents liked all the stuff
