ARCHIVED Do You Know If You Had Colic When You Were A Baby?
wheeleezdryver replied to SaraKat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
As far as I know, I wasn't a colicy baby, but i've been told that I got chicken pox at 6 months old (thanks to my older brothers bringing it home from school with them...). i didn't start having any health issues until i was about 26 yo- about 8 years ago. -
ARCHIVED Thanksgiving... Yup Another Tg Thread...

glad to hear your cold is getting better! i made chili & cornbread tonight, too!! (good for local college football game watching . you're dairy- free, right? how do you make your cornbread? I used Gluten- Free Pantry Yankee Cornbread & muffin mix, & subbed homemade brown rice milk for the buttermilk it called for. DH liked it (&... -
ARCHIVED Eye Doctor Says It's Not Night Blindness
wheeleezdryver replied to brendygirl's topic in Doctors
my eyes are hazel, and i've had light sensitivity (but no nightblindness) since i was a teenager (if not longer). Sunglasses never worked well for me... yes, they protected my eyes from the sun, but could still feel the sharp glare of bright things. i hate driving at night when it's raining... everything reflects off the wet pavement & it makes it hard... -

ARCHIVED Poll: How Were You Diagnosed? (Or Were You?)
wheeleezdryver replied to flutterby's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i am self- diagnosed. i didn't know how to answer the 2nd question. i don't know if i have gluten intolerances or celiac (if i have celiac, it's not the classic sypmtoms, and probably not to the point it would show up on tests... that is to say, even if I wanted to try attempting to convince my dr to do the tests). i put that i'm a medical mystery... mainly... -
A couple days ago, I happened to catch part of Dr Oz while flipping thru channels, and they shared this recipe: Open Original Shared Link I thought, 'ohhh that sounds good, I can probably adjust it to gluten-free'-- i mean, it's *only* the crust that needs to be changed (never having made pot pie before, didn't realize they use broth & worstershire...

I've seen it in Kroger or Walmart stores that have a gluten- free section. Was just looking through my stash of stuff to see what color the packaging is, but i don't seem to have the brown rice macaroni right now... their other pasta varieties, each variety is a different dark color back ground, w/ some gold coloring.

Hi rowena!! I know you had a cold... how are you feeling today? Great suggestions given already! just wanted to add one more...if you're not able to do everything this weekend, you can maybe do one or two things each weeknight, or at least any pie you want to make . And of course, maybe your husband could help w/ some of the prep as well. (notice i... -

ARCHIVED Are These Symptoms Gluten Sensitivity?
wheeleezdryver replied to bellysbetter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i have every one of those symptoms, except the problem getting to sleep. i am also self- dx'd gluten (if not celiac)& dairy intolerant, and am currently trying to figure out other intolerances (including corn & fructans). Most of my symptoms only started in the last couple of years, and I'm 34. so you're not alone in this! -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease & Lactose Intolerance
wheeleezdryver replied to Mama Melissa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm fairly newly self- dx'd w/ both gluten (if not celiac)& dairy intolerances. A few hours after eating dairy, I get gas, burping, intestinal irritation. i really need to tyr Lactaid, but living on a tight income, that's yet another thing I can't afford . I am hoping that, since the dairy intolerance is something that come up in the last year or two... -

I drive for a friend who is visually impaired. Today, on the way to her work, she needed to go to the bank. After the bank, she wanted to walk across to the doughnut shop next door & pick up a couple doughnuts... can you where this is going??... She can walk from the bank to the doughnut shop okay...normally when she needs to go to the bank, I don...

Hi, I'm Becky, I'm 34 years old. I live in Western Idaho. The main parts of my story are in my siggy, but thought i'd share here, too . Spring 2004 i was dx'd w/ hypothyroidism (at age 27. wheeleezdryver replied to mainsail1974's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Splenda/ as[artame causes me abdominal pain (figured that one out a year or so ago...it only took me 3 years of using it before figuring it out! Duh). i don't have any problems with Truvia or other sweeteners. I don't know if i have problems w/ fructose, i'll have to look into it... -
ARCHIVED Any Reality Tv Fans Out There?
wheeleezdryver replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I like to watch Biggest Looser... it's pretty much the only reality TV show I really watch (aside from Extreme Makeover, Home Edition), and I do wonder about how they would handle having a person with food allergies/ intolerances on that show... being gluten-free would certainly make it easy for me to abstian from most of their food challenges if i were on... -
man, that sucks that the JSM restraunt wasn't as gluten- free friendly as was advertised! But that's awesome that things turned out so well at Mazza!! (I've never been to either restaurant) yeah, that is kinda crazy that your dad asked the secretary to look up info on gluten-free restraunts, by hey, now the sec'y knows a little bit about gluten-free...

I've only been to Starbucks a handful fo times, as I don't drink coffee or tea, but yesterday i was there w/ a friend (got done helping her with errands an hour before she needed to go to work, so she wanted to go there), and while there I noticed that they (at least the store I was in) had 2 varieties ofKind Bars (fruit & nuts, gluten-free , don't know...

ARCHIVED What's The Bread That's Inedible But Makes Good Stuffing?
wheeleezdryver replied to luvs2eat's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Both i and my husband don't like stuffing... so glad to know we're not the only ones . i'm not much of one for savory foods. in the years I've done the holiday cooking, i only made cornbread once... and that was last year, i was attempting a gluten-free holiday meal (I knew i had at least some problem w/ gluten, but hadn't gotten completely serious yet... -
