  6. positive biopsy is the 'golden standard' for diagnosis - so 'what?' are you going to a GI or general practitioner? alot of docs are clueless.
  7. good point and it's that simple. when i quit eating gluten, i got better. $$ is so tight for nearly everyone these days. if eating gluten free is making you feel better and your folks can do it, what if you just wait - you should be able to tell ps - nobody makes me whip out my diagnosis. alot of times i don't even mention celiac. i just...

  9. lolz david, she was nice enough to marry you, right? have you ever been tested? some people don't have the Big Noticable Symptoms (silent celiac) - i have noticed a huge change in my attitude and ambition being off gluten. gluten always made me physically sick, but if i get zapped accidentally, i turn into the biggest JERK almost immediately. it...

  11. the profile lolz - you're not a serial killer! (cereal killer? killed by cereal? lolz..) more like caused by celiac than a co-existence. many things i did not realize (because they had come on so gradually and over a long period of time) that i was suffering from... ie: i had a 'dull' headache all the time. i only noticed the extremely painful migraines...
  12. not all of them!
  13. good for you, honey! it *is* hard so the sweeter the accomplishment and very encouraging to those who are struggling - it pays to hang in there. it really does get better (and easier) great news!
  14. my blood test was negative, too. my GI already knew that i had been eating gluten-free but she had me tested anyway - BUT - she also tested me for many other things, to rule them out. (like crohn's, thyroid, etc) i got my dx when i had the endoscopy. in fact, she could actually see the damage. after i got rid of the wheat, and i mean for quite a while...
  15. as i am smugly thinking: *i* don't have gluten-head anymore... i read my shopping list and it says: bandaids bandaids lolz i think that's just natural, no gluten involved. i do keep in shape by regularly running up the stairs to forget what i went up there for. i remember when i get back down, so there's always 2 trips involved who needs...
  16. yay, addy!!!! hope you get it!
  17. take them with you! once i admired a plant in my brother's neighbor's garden and she dug it up for me. i put it in a wine box and it flew home with me in my suitcase (we drank the wine first - that woulda been one drunk a$$ plant lolz) my daughter is majoring in english lit, minoring in psych. kind of cancels each other out lolz JUST KIDDING! ...
  18. we *do* play with our food, don't we?!! i'm now thinking i could probably use kind of the same technique, except with lasagne noodles, cut them into rectangles and fill with egg roll filling. they would be still sticky enough to hold together, i think, and then fry the whole mess in olive canola oil. (one of these days ima get another deep fryer) ...
  19. shadow: you sound like my daughter right now. i had never heard of "dead week" lolz - she will be done with this semester (for the summer, i think!) on friday. in the meantime, i am trying not to distract her. feel better!! you will do great
  20. for the crispy 'tink' noodles: i use the tinkyada fettucini noodles, but you could use any that you like. make noodles as package directs, then lay them out in a single layer on a rack for like, 2-3 hours. then i toss them in cornstarch and fry them in canola oil. sprinkle with salt after you fry them. husband likes them better than the 'real' thing
  21. here you go! i stole it off a chat room, so i have no idea who to give credit to. it is pretty much dead on. (but i make it with chicken and not cat...)(LOLZ) chicken chow mein (NNJ style) Growing up, my best friend's family owned the most popular Chinese restaurant in the area (Northern New Jersey). 24. that sounds yummy - my mom used to put mozzarella cheese on the bread and then bake it - of course, i think she just made the lipton packet soup back in the day.... definitely going to try this!
  25. hey! that's a great idea! how did it turn out? how was the crust - what would you compare it to? thin crust? squishy? fluffy? my daughter's friend used to be the manager of our local domino's - i bet she could get them to sell to me...
