notme replied to Missmtl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
yes, you will get very good at 'package flipping' - remove package from shelf, flip package over, read package (til you see gluten), flip package back over, put package back on shelf. it's a little easier now with the allergy warning following ingredients if it's not clearly listed in the ingredients. -

just something interesting: it now says on my pill bottle "may sprinkle capsule contents on applesauce. swallow. do not chew" i guess i wasn't the only one who called the manufacturer about what their capsules are made of, even though the medicine itself is gluten free. (and applesauce is for sissies lolz although it does taste *blech* awful)

notme replied to SasaMinks's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
for 25 years they muttered IBS< IBS< IBS to me - i have come to the conclusion that is what they tell you when they have no clue what is wrong with you. my symptoms were also triggered by pregnancy, so that is suspicious right there, also very common with celiac. get yourself tested and good luck (congratulations on your baby!!!) everything you have... -

ARCHIVED Got Glutened. Hoping For Some Insight.
notme replied to ButtercupSarah's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i got glutened at a bar one time and it was because the bartenders were washing glasses at the bar in water that had (everything, i'm sure!) in it. like using the same water for beer glasses, etc. i always ask for a glass from the dishwasher if i can get one. -

				ARCHIVED Pre Blood Test Questions
notme replied to jwblue's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
i had to fast before mine, but they were also doing other tests and drawing all the blood at the same time. no idea if you should eat more gluten or not since you haven't gone gluten free already. i'm thinking the extra bread was only if you had been gluten free and re-introducing it for testing purposes. i went gluten free before my celiac testing and... -
